What do you guys recommend?

Updated both of my MiBoxes this afternoon, and both of them (connected to different monitors) have no audio at all. If I disconnect the HDMI cable with something playing, then reconnect it, I will have audio for about 5-10 seconds and then it shuts off again.

Anyone else seeing this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Cant tell you how happy I am finally getting digital 5.1 audio for most of my movies. However AAC 5.1 doesn't work. It could be that my receiver cant decode it but I thought AAC was more compatible than AC3 is. I can hear audio with AAC it just doesn't come in as digital. The movie direct plays so plex thinks I can do AAC.

Can anyone get 5.1 AAC working with plex? Just wondering if it's just me and my receiver.

With the latest OREO update (released this week) I was hoping on finally being able to connect my PS4 controller with the mi box. But I have the same problems I had during the previous version of Android. Anyone knows how to fix this?

Apparently after installing the new oreo update somehow my miBox unpaired my Logitech K830 keyboard. So I decided to pair it once more but I get no input from my keyboard (neither keystrokes or touch pad) after pairing it under oreo. Anyone found a similar issue with their keyboards?

I'm asking this because I already enjoy using my Chromecast for doing everything TV related, specially with Google Home commands, and was thinking about getting a Sony TV with Android embedded for even more possibilities.

Than I noticed that Xiaomi's MiBox actually runs Android TV (the good one, not tablet interface crap) and also have google Cast, making it an enhanced Chrome Cast. But still, it is an external device and cannot do anything outside of the HDMI it is plugged on. Or can it? (I know it can turn tv on and off, but what else?)

The question is: what type of Google Home commands you can perform with an Sony Android TV that you wouldn't be able to perform with a MiBox? Can someone give me some examples?

Further more, I like to keep my Chromecast plugged into a wall socket so its always ready to do it's thing, regardless of the TV being on or off. Can I do the same with a MiBox? how is the power consumption?

It asks me to use the android app to type but thy doesnt work either :(

Edit if this happens to anyone else, disable the android remote keyboard in settings

The animations are longer, the keyboard responds less well. Do you have the same symptoms?

I am currently on Nougat Beta Build 1028 and would like to update to Oreo but am afraid of loosing my root access. Is there any way I can update and still retain root?

I heard of Flashfire but not sure if it works for a major version upgrade and for android TV/Mi box.

I use Nougat beta at the moment, and that build is rooted, and I can access it via ADB. Is the Oreo update rooted?

I want to have a completely clean install of my box. Whats the best way? First reseting it, then installing the update with the firmware file?

Google assistant seems to online respond if I start to speak in the first second after pressing the key.

Also, voice typing seems to be completely broken in apps..

Before update, I had a 2TB USB hd through a usb hub and I used it for Kodi, Retroarch, and ArcBrowser.

After updated to Oreo, I can't use it anymore. The HD is fine, I can put it on my computer and all the videos and content are correct. But the MiBox aknowledges it when I connect it with a notification, but I can't use it. Now Kodi, Retroarch, Arc Browser, and even ES File Explorer don't see the disk, or see it but can't access it.

I checked the apps permissions, and everything is correct. I don't know what's happening. Anyone had the same problem?

Unfortunately my original MiBox remote is broken and I use a replacement Xiaomi remote. It worked OK under Marshmallow but turns out it's very buggy under Oreo. Can't reorder apps, can only launch apps from a popup menu and some apps stopped responding. Is there any way to roll back to the original OS?

I have tried with Netflix shows, Youtube videos using the native app and the Smart Youtube TV app, but the Mi Box does not work with HDR.

I have tried the same content with my Chromecast Ultra and it works. Anyone else with this issue ?

I still don't have a 4K/HDR TV but I's still like to know what did get updated or added (or removed) to our MiBox with this Oreo update other than the non-desired Launcher :P

So I've bought my Mi Box few months ago to watch 4K HDR10 .mkv rips, and was seriously disappointed. Kodi was unable to switch to HDR, system performance was mediocre, frame rate did not switch automatically, basically nothing worked as it should. I've sold it.

Now that the update is out, how much better it feels? What's fixed and what's not? Wondering if I need to get another one.

With the recent oreo update to the mibox, it seems that it is no longer possible to sideload apps via usb using es file explorer, is there another app that works with oreo?

Hi! I just updated to Oreo on the Mi Box, and although I'm happy it finally happened, now my external hard drive is not recognized anymore. If I plug in any random USB stick in FAT32 it works as intended, but my ExFat drive, which of course worked perfectly fine with Marshmallow, now in Kodi has the name truncated to the first letter and if I try to open it I get a "path not found or invalid" error. In the notification center if I try to browse the drive it still doesn't work. Do you have any idea on how to troubleshoot/fix this? The only thing I did was update to Oreo (the official OTA), and of course I can't use FAT32 on the hard drive because of the 4GB per file limit. I really need to play my files in Kodi from my external drive and this update killed it :/

It's at the bottom of the app/games menu when you long press Home.

Since due to physical constraints I can't get a ethernet cavle upto my room however prior to the oreo update I conencted my phone to the mi box and used USB tethering but I don't think it's working after the update.
