I am currently using Sling TV but have been looking to switch. Was thinking Youtube TV. So I wanted to see what everyone else is using?

I am currently looking to upgrade from a Mibox 4K to the Shield TV. But it is quite an investment ($250 in my country) so I have some questions. I mostly use the Mibox for gamestream to my TV in the living room with moonlight from my PC. The Mibox do alright with about 40ms delay. However, it cannot process mouse input due to no root, which I have to connect the mouse through VirtualHere and it has intense lag. So my questions are:

• Will Gamestream with the Shield through wired gigabit network on both end has low mouse input lag? For mouse games like Dota 2, CS:GO, Diablo 3, etc.?

• What are the disadvantages of the LOS rom on the Shield compare to the to native Android TV?

Edit: I also have an Xbox One S controller, can I connect it along with the Shield controller to the Shield TV and have 2 players game set up?

I set my olds up with a android tv box i got from china a few years ago when I moved out and now its time for an upgrade and they also have fiber now :).

I set them up with a plex server before I left and they watch movies off that and they use Netflix. there tv was a good LG tv at the time 4 years ago or so but its only 1080P thus they dont need 4k.

what tv box / chrome cast etc do you think they will need ? :)

Hi, could someone help me understand my options here. I intend to buy a mi box and already have a hdhomerun.

1. Using the native live app option though Android TV seems to be the cheapest option if it'll work for me. The issue I have here is, can you watch dvr recordings on sources other than that particular mi box? I'd like to buy a second mi box for another room to watch the recordings.

2. If that's not possible I'd like to use the hdhomerun service and use my mi box as a DVR. But, I don't know if this is possible. I only see posts saying that the nvida shleid can do this. Can the mi box be used as a DVR through the hdhomeruns own service?

I basically want to use the mi box as a DVR in all possible scenarios and don't want to use my computer as one.

I have an Nvidia Shield running V6.3 and Live Channels V1.17.0. I have a Live Channels playlist defined from Xtream-editor. All of this was working just fine until this morning. I watched it for about an hour, went away for a bit and when I came back, when I choose a channel to watch, I get the spinning circle for a bit and then get an internal runtime error, connect timed out. This happens for every channel I try.

I use TVIRL to define the playlist for Live Channels. I have gone back thru the TVIRL playlist setup and it does find channels and the EPG and gives me a playlist successfully installed result.

I'm able to see my channels in the Live Channels EPG but when I choose one, I get the runtime error after about 5 seconds of spinning circle.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting advice? Pulling my hair out here...

Launch cbsnews and it shows only a black screen with the audio playing. Its the only app that does this and I've had it before and it went away by itself. This is affecting two nexus players.

1. Tried restarting the device
2. Reinstalled app / cleared cache

It has been two days like this so perhaps I have to wait it out??

I am looking for a media center/app which can access a samba drive from a network? I have a my own root server and sometimes upload family videos there.

I want my family to open their Android TV and see all the videos I uploaded and then play it.

As I understand, you have to know the MRL within VLC. I am looking for a solution where I can give access to a certain network drive which is not in the local network.

I am in a situation where I need to temporary change the MAC address for an app usage. I am currently setting up a personal server for plex, and it is not ready to use for my parents. The old app works on the old device but the device is dying and is not strong enough to watch stream content through plex.

The old app they use is compatible with the shield tv but has locked network connection by device MAC address. So my plan is to temporary spoof MAC address to use the app until my plex server is setup then cancel the subscription for the old app.

Is there any good ways to allow me to spoof MAC address? I've tried some ways but they don’t seem to actually work. For example side loading some mobile android app and etc.

Hey guys So I converted my External HD to internal storage on the Mi Box, I was just wondering if you can read the External HD new file format on Windows? Anyone know what type of format it becomes after conversion?

I recently bought a Mi Box for a mate and set it up for him. He's lives quite far away and I now need to update some settings for the IPTV app he's using. It would be a nightmare to explain it to him over the phone. Are there any Remote Access apps that I could use on android TV, similar to Teamviewer for Windows that would let me log in to his Mi Box and quickly make the necessary changes?

The dpad on my controller broke and it's a fairly simple replacement, but I can't seem to find the parts anywhere. Has anyone had any luck finding replacements?

Anyone has encounter the problem of not being able to hotspot the mi box. Im using my google pixel with t mobile to do a hostpot to the box but when i click connect to the hotspot network it always tells me couldnt find [my newtwork]
