I need to install android tv apps on a device that does not have access to the android tv app store. I know there are lots of 3rd party "mirror" sites where one can download regular apk'sfor android, but is there a 3rd party site where i can download apk's sepcifically for android tv so i can then sideload them? thanks

Picked one of these up for 20$ off amazon. So far its been great to use with anything I have side loaded. My only complaint is I havent found a way to close an app. If I alt+tab it will bring up my usual place to close apps but i cant hit down to close them. Is there a keyboard shortcut or anything like that to close an app when I'm done?

Every few days I am having an issue with my Shield. It will turn on and everything appears to be working correctly. I am getting no sound, however. I have to either restart the shield through the settings menu, or just pull the plug. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

It's a 2017 16GB Shield model that I just purchased a couple of weeks ago.

Hello Reddit! Long story short my dad gave me an Android TV box, it's an MXQ box, however it doesn't allow me to use TV apps without crashing. I went ahead and found out its an MXQ m201_n model by downloading a CPU app.

Would anyone know if this box supports any upgraded or custom firmware I could try? I went ahead and scoured through the interwebs, but as far as I can see, the only custom firmware I can find is for the S805 model.

I want to get a media player I can plug into my TV then plug a USB drive into.

Then play high quality video files from that media player on the TV.

The catch is I need to be able to fast forward and rewind through the video files without the device crashing.

I also want to be able to play those h.265 you see now a days.

My Sony TV lets me plug in a USB drive but it won't play h.265 files and for other files, if I try to skip forward or backwards, it crashes.

Can a cheap 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, Amlogic Quad Core Android TV box do this? I'm in the UK.

I won't be streaming, just playing off a USB thumb drive.

I have a Shield TV that I used very gently for about 3 weeks. I'm looking to sell it.

It comes with the controller and remote. I have all of the cables and packaging. It's currently rooted and on Experience version 6.3. It's packed up in the box and no longer plugged into my TV (as of ~ 4 weeks ago)

I'm looking for $170 for it.

Is anyone interested? If so, I'll probably create a buy-it-now Ebay listing for it or something to make the transaction more official. PM me for pictures and more info.

Edit: Actually rebooting the TV and not just turning it off and on did the trick. Hold down the power button on the remote for about 5 seconds then start it back up.

I'm hoping someone can help me out with my new Sony TV.

I want to get rid of the "Featured Apps" bar, but keep some of the apps I've downloaded. I go into settings and "force close"/"hide notifications" on the Sony Shelf, so no issues there. Problem is when I go back to the home screen, the bar is gone and the apps are gone with it.

I see the installed apps in the Google Play Store, but there is no way to add them to the My Apps bar.

Any solutions to this, or is it just a forcing function to keep the Sony Shelf?

Video, music... Casting, USB... It don't matter the format or source.

If I'm watching a movie or series, I have to rewind all the time to sync the audio because it keeps playing normally even if the video stutters.

The stuttering does dissappear after I swear I'm going to throw this fucking box out of my window one of these days.

Hi, has anybody had problems with Google cast on their mi box? I have tried factory reset and and updating the apps but my phone still will not cast. Any ideas?

i am looking for an android box but with different intentions

what i am looking for is a box that either can startup really fast (within 10 seconds max) or one that has a very low power consumption or can be put in sleep mode

i thought to ymself why not add an android box to my car and a small display panel ... ultimately it should replace my car radio, as i use my current radio only in bluetooth mode for my phone as an amplifier and everythign else runs on my phone, like music player, radio and navigation but i want to have it wired into my car.

most of the android car PC solutions available are oriented more to a high tech multimedia use, what i want is a simple android phone mounted into my console more or less :P

i tested raspberry pi but was underwhelmed by the boot time and overwhelmed on the power consumption even in lowest power state ... or i did miss out on how to setup hibernate or sth

tl;dr; requirements:

• low power with standby or fast startup not more than 10 seconds (at least shorter than 20 seconds)
• HDMI and touch capabilities (i have a couple of touch displays in mind to use) or recommend a fitting touch display (capa touch not resistive film) that fits a radio car double slot or single slot as retractable display

Just realizing both versions are in the Play Store (when accessed through a desktop web browser, for the purpose of pushing to a connected Android device - just clarifying that - Chrome does not show up on an Android TV device's Play Store) and both can be pushed out to my Shields and MiBoxes - but I'm not sure which is most appropriate. Any insights?

Recently bought a MiBox and some sideloaded apps are showing in landscape mode which is obviously not ideal.

Ive noticed apps mentioned on previous posts but could not find those on the Play store or the usual APK sites.

I've been happily using my MiBox (Walmart purchased one) for a few years now, but all of a sudden this morning, when my kids try to watch Amazon Video, the app shows an overlay displaying "This app needs to be update" or something like that. Of course, that doesn't work as the Amazon Video app isn't install-able from the play store. I side loaded the Amazon Launcher/Video app shortly after buying it, and it had been working as well as could be until now.

I can't seem to find any workarounds as the old method has been scrubbed from XDA by Amazon. Doesn't anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Or am I going to go buy a Nvidia Shield finally?

Update: Tried a bunch of the APKs linked here, none work great, so I just bought a Shield instead. Should have done that to begin with.

I use 49x800d ATV 7.0. i installed Live channels app. when in Livechannels app, i press number button to switch channel, it automatic switch to built in sony TV app (on-air). how to stop auto switch to on-air app? I only want to use Live channels

Right now I'm using Flud and to be honest it has this function, but it doesn't work with remote, but only with mouse, which is extremely annoying.

Hello, I have problem to play all 4K movies on AndroidTV (Sharp UE630x). No issue on other device. I have consult with Netflix support still not solve. They mixed up 4k title with 4k quality.
