How do I get MLB games on Android TV?

After an extended time in sleep mode, my Shield (2017) isn't waking up. When I push a button on the remote the green light on the box lights up, but nothing shows on my TV. Pulling the power cord fixes it. I've replaced my HDMI cable to no avail.

My Shield is plugged into an Onkyo AV receiver. It works great once the picture shows up. I've taken to just not letting the box sleep.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm a big raspberry pi user but am wondering if an Android TV box would be better suited.

I have a pi VPN server (OpenVPN) that I use to connect to and watch my TWC Spectrum subscription on the go. However, I'd like to be able to be able to cast to my TV. On my phone (Nexus) I connect to the VPN and view using the TWC Spectrum app. The app doesn't have casting ability, and using Google cast doesn't work when connected to the VPN.

I'm hoping an Android TV box would allow me to VPN in and watch my TWC Spectrum. Thoughts on this?

Have a Shield TV for the last year or so... love it in general other than the random general Android bugginess that has been there on every phone I ever had before switching to an iPhone.

The other day I went into YouTube and I was randomly not logged into my account. When I try to hit the sign in button in YouTube settings it says there was a problem signing into my account and the button disappears completely for a while. Eventually the button shows up again but still is broken when I try to sign in.

My google account is handled by Android TV settings and is working fine there. Everything else using that account (movies, music, etc) works fine.

Restarts don't help. Tried uninstalling the app but it won't allow me.

Any other advice?

I have the World TiVi+ quad core box. I bought it in Canada and have moved overseas. I forgot my remote!! There are sites that sell remotes and keyboards. Would any of them work for me? or does it have to be that specific one? Help is much appreciated.

I have two different Nexus Players, both running 7.1.1. I am trying to get the DVR function working with the new Live Channels DVR over Network Tuner. Watching live works great, sound and all. I can also pause live TV fine, but the DVR will not record. It will let me schedule recordings in the future, but when it comes time to record I get a "recording failed" message in the guide and an "insufficient storage" message on the screen.

Setup:

Nexus Player 7.1.1 on Wifi AC 1TB USB HDD configured as device storage

Nexus Player 7.1.1 on LAN via USB adapter 265GB Flash drive configured as device storage

Neither setup works, but they provide the same error. I am guessing it is something with my overall setup.

I will try a firmware update on the HDHR Connect, and I am updating one of the Players to 7.1.2 beta, but I don't know what else to try. Seems like a storage issue, but I can't think of anything else.

Ideas?

[UPDATE: 7.1.2 Beta seems to allow recording now on both devices, but maybe it was something else that I did instead. I am trying some different things, and I will report back with more results from my testing.]

So lot of people complaining about DirecTV Now stream resolution being sub par and I was wondering if there was a way to check what resolution you're getting. It's possible on FireTV from what I know so was wondering if anyone knew how to check.

Sideloaded APK is working fine but I do notice the stream isn't as good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anytime I attempt to download from google play I'm prompted with insufficient data on the Mi Box. So I view my storage.

I can see my full, internal storage and my usb drive (also an option to reset data). I choose my usb drive and have options to migrate data, eject, erase/format, and a listing of my storage folders (apps, photos & vids, etc). I choose migrate data>move now. Error: "Unfortunatly, Settings has stopped."

I only have one app on the usb drive (466 MB) and I'm not even certain how I was able to get that app on there. My usb drive has 7.2 gb available. Any thoughts on how to connect my downloads to my usb drive or move some of the full, Mi Box app data to the usb drive?

I bought a MiBox intended for relatives, the intention is to use it mostly for streaming and Kodi with an eye towards the future if they upgrade the TV like they've been talking about. Kodi seems to be working fine but I'm having YouTube stop some streams labeled 4K abruptly. Others run fine. Since I don't have a 4K TV myself or 4K on my Netflix account (which seems fine) how can I best test for the flaws in video playback?

I want to be able to return it quickly and exchange for another if need be so time is of the essence here. Thanks!

I know there are a few submissions on here asking whether one should get a Sony Android TV or an Nvidia Shield etc. The replies are always "get a dumb tv, buy for picture quality". I'd like to get some varied responses.

I want to know how the Android TV experience benefits degrade when you choose one vs the other. I'm talking about stuff like included Chromecast functionality, launching content search via voice (do you need to press a remote button first for both?), can devices like Google Home wake up either one for you or do you have to turn on your TV and switch to the Shield input. What's it like having the OS contained only to an input vs controlling your TV? Are there key applications exclusive to each (any Kodi difference?)

I'm not talking about future-proofing. Let's assume for the purpose of this that TVs will get Android updates too. I'm not talking about picture quality because real world tests have shown me I couldn't see the difference or care much when I compare TVs side by side.

I'll get a 4K TV so it's going to be smart. The question is more do I want WebOS as the soul of my TV for day to day operations since Android is available separately? Or should I just go right to Android?

I have a Nexbox A95X and I use MX Player with AC3 and DTS codec imported, but sometimes I notice that some movies (.mkv format 720p or 1080p) seem to play with a very slight delay. The bitrate doesn't seem to be the correct one, and it's not the release, because it happens on different movies from different groups. I was wondering is there is a better app to play videos aside from MX Player? Thank you!

I've got a Sony 49x8305c TV and just updated to Android TV 6. I know you can hide the whole row of featured apps, but if I do that then certain ones like Amazon TV and iPlayer disappear which I want to keep.

Is there a way of just hiding certain apps from the featured apps row? And also some of the stock apps from the apps row that I don't use?

I recently turned on my old Fire TV and was surprised at the available apps though it was unbearable to navigate cause of its age I guess. They have every network from A&E to Showtime in their ecosystem and they work great unlike sideloaded apps on ATV. I feel that Google needs to step it up if they want to make ATV a real thing. I love my Shield TV, just wish ATV had the same amount of support that the Fire TV has.

Basically, I've loaded the dish anywhere app on my android tv box. I can watch live TV and on demand fine, but when I click to watch DVR content there is a popup where you click either "watch on tv" or "watch on device". Neither of these buttons work...

I've tried two different air mouses without success, and the thought online is that only a touchscreen press will work.

Is there way way for me to get a touchscreen press to register on the Android tv? One of my air mouses has programmable buttons though I doubt that helps here...

Marshmallow software update for BRAVIA TVs in Australia and New Zealand will be release on the 2nd week of March 2017. You will get a notification in your BRAVIA if marshmallow software is already available and ready for download specially if your tv is set to "automatic software update".

How do I solve this? Resetting the Mibox does nothing...tried it already.

I'm trying to sideload an app and it requires the permission to draw over other apps, however I can't find the menu on ATV where to give this permission, is it possible? Thx.

Like the title says, I've noticed this happening most mornings, but it just happened this evening on me. I press power on for a device which would normally wake my TV at the same time. However the TV just won't wake. I can press the power button on the remote, the TV and even unplug the power cable and the TV refuses to wake/boot for a few minutes. When it does wake it will play the android boot animation (even if I didn't unplug the power).

Any thoughts?
