I am trying to find a way to remote control the MiBox3 that I got for my parents.

I just tried all the different variation of "host" and "quicksupport" apps that teamviewer has. None seem to provide an option for actual remote control.

All I get is screen sharing, file transfers, and ability to point at things with my cursor.....

Any other options? Every time I search, there are tons of threads/posts saying to use TeamViewer

Just got my Mi Box from Walmart. Everything on it works and works quite well... Except for Netflix. After starting a movie it will play for 2-20 seconds then error out with code tvq-pm-100. I've updated all apps, updated firmware, reinstalled Netflix, adjusted HD settings, etc, etc, etc.... Nothing makes it work. My network is not the problem and Netflix works well on every other device I own. I side loaded the Netflix Android app and it works but is not ideal. I talked to Netflix and they said their engineers are working on the problem. Has anyone found a solution yet?

I've just learned that for all time I have only been getting 720p on my pc media server in my living room. This simply will not do. I've been researching options and AndroidTV looks sweet, affordable, and small. But I cannot find an official list of which devices are supported by netflix? I ordered the Minix Neo U1 without doing much research. Even though it says it supports 4k, I guess netflix doesn't support it so i'll be limited to 720p on that. I'm gonna return it and get something else, but what?

I'm down to 49 channels here. It was 100+ at one point. Anyone else seeing this?

Looking at picking up a new TV... and have been tempted by the HDHomerun Prime.

Have a roku... but doesn't look like it supports viewing live HDHomerun Prime streams... the plex support is kind of "sketchy" as well.

Andriod TVs look to support the HDHomerun app... but looking at the play store I see one app not being available in the US... the other being a beta app.

Am I missing something... looking at the wrong app?

Also what is the general "android TV" experience like.

So, I have a homescreen shortcut to a search field. Can I also somehow add the proper hotkey command to that shortcut so that it opens the keyboard AND starts voice recognition? Just will shorten the process and make it more seamless on my MiBox.

Hi, I've recently got a Mi Box, and it's awesome with google cast and the Google backdrop feature. But, I'm having issues with setting my own pictures to be used in at the backdrop.

With a chromecast, the Google Home app lets me choose Google Photos albums to be used for the backdrop. I cannot find this option when using Google Home with my Mi Box. Why is this feature not included in Android TV? Is this something we can expect to be added? Is there a work around?

So my shield has been acting up... constantly Google Play Services or whatever crashes... dont even use that but the alert comes up like every 30 min. and some other issues. heard doing a full system reset is the fix but i dont want to lose my GTA saves.

How can I get these save data, reset and add the data back.

I'm trying to use flirt to control my android TV Nexus player. I'm able to program every key/button except for the directional pad and the enter button.

This is kinda odd that the directional button should just work out of the box but doesn't.

I don't know what else to do I can assign other keys to do the directional buttons and enter but I would like to use the buttons on the Harmony smart controller .

As you may know, the Sony TVs updated recently to work with Google Home. I'm running version 6.0.1 on my TV. I'm having trouble getting it to play Netflix though.

If I say, "Hey Google, watch Stranger Things on Netflix." It says "When you ask for a video, tell me which screen you wanna watch on." So when I say, "Hey Google, watch Stranger Things on Netflix on my TV." it says, "Sorry, something went wrong. When you're ready, give it another try."

Other apps like YouTube work perfectly fine. I was wondering if anyone has run into the same problems or has an answer.

Casting from my desktop (to my Shield) seems to work reasonably well, but casting from my phone to the Shield results in a loading screen, or maybe a frame of video, but it never loads. Doesn't seem to be a sideload for the Now app. Anyone found anything that works? I feel like Now could be the thing I've been looking for to satisfy my wife's live TV itch, but I need it to work vai cast or an app...

Back in the days of WDTV there would be a simple SMB share. Is there such a thing for AndroidTV?

When I initially tried researching this topic, the information I found was a couple of months old, and leaned towards the button mapping being messed up.

I finally got one of the controllers and tested it. It worked great with emulators, but that was kinda expected due to the ability to remap buttons. I also tested Doom (2016) and Titanfall 2 via gamestream, and both controlled as they should have.

You may have to update the firmware on the controller prior to using it on the shield TV. You can update it via an Xbox one or by the Xbox accessories app on Windows (10?).

I hope this helps some people trying to look for a definitive answer on compatibility.

Has anyone tried the Android TV ROM on other devices? For example I have heard projects on the raspberry pi, the pine64 an x86 version and even some ports to Chinese boxes like the ones made by week. Btw week seems interesting because the ROM made the tuner capable of connection to the live channels app and are seemingly working on DVR and ff/rw functionality.

I am those weird people who likes sleeping to tv. I normally just use sleep timer on my tv.

For mibox, I saw there's a daydream(?) Feature, But it says it sleeps on idle, doesn't say If it applies during active playing videos at well. I hope it's not what I think it only does. So is it possible to put a sleep timer while watching something on mibox?

Anyone know of any players that will get it to output 3D H.264 MVC to a display. Video could be in MKV, m2ts, mp4 anything really I'm willing to remux to make it work I just want FULL frame packed HD 3D

"3D H.264 MVC" is a totally different animal it's 'frame packed 3d' just like what you get out of a BluRay and when set up properly your display auto detects it so you dont have to switch to 3D H-SBS and get crappy low quality stretched out half res 3d.

Is anyone else having issues with the new Marshmellow update? Mine are mostly related to Apps showing multiple times in the Apps sections. Also, downloaded Apps are now showing in the Featured section that does not allow you to reorder it.
