Sorry if this has already been discussed but I am just joining and havent seen anything about this.

I am really thinking about grabbing an Amazon Echo, but before this, I want to know if anyone has been able to make Alexa control your TV to make this worth it. I'd love to be able to tell it her to turn on the TV, launch Netflix, Searxh YouTube, ETC.

Please let me know what you guys have found out.

Hey all. I'm in the process of reducing remotes in my living room as the current situation is confusing for my other half.

I have a Sony KD-55S8005C Android TV. The Sony remote doesn't have a qwerty keyboard but does have loads of useless buttons for Netflix, Football and all kinds of pointless settings shortcuts. I also have a second qwerty remote for the TV, and a keyboard for my media server. It's confusing and annoying.

What I want is a single remote for the TV side that has:

Media: Play, pause, stop, rewind, forward

Android: Home, Back, Search, Up, Down, Left, Right, OK

Keyboard: QWERTY

I already have something similar, but half the buttons don't work. Most notably, the play/pause combo button doesn't work, so I presume they need to be separate buttons. Also, the Power button doesn't turn the TV on. It only turns it off, and I have to press 'OK' to turn the the TV back on.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, all-in-one remote?

EDIT: I went with the Mele F10 Deluxe and it works great. I taught it a mixture of media keys from my Sony TV and LG sound system remotes. You can even learn the back and play buttons which is handy as I believe many 'android TV remotes' use the wrong key code for back so won't work with an actual Android TV. This works great.

QWERTY on the back is responsive too.

It was £23 from Amazon.

Is there anyway i could use my shield tv controller on my sony android tv to play games? is the dual shock 4 really the only controller you can use on sony android tv's?

Hello, so i am looking to purchase a android tv box, but a must have for me is that it needs to play emulators like GBA, n64 and NDS. Also must have kodi and such. I was looking at the nVidia shield, but its too expensive. I know u guys will say it's worth the extra $, but i can't. So any recommendation of android tv box's out there? Thanks! c:

Specifically, compatible with the Nvidia Shield Console. I've looked on the play store but I couldn't find anything.

Not sure if this was a feature in previous beta versions of Nougat (or even in Marshmallow), but just noticed today that long-pressing the home button (at least on the Nexus Player) will open Recent Apps, similar to pressing the right nav bar icon (the square) on phones/tablets. Also like on phones/tablets, the initial app selected is the one previous to the one you're using now (for quicker switching I suppose).

Hi, has anyone had any issues with casting to shield? Sometimes it workd flawlessly, but most of the times I am not able to cast. I can see Shield as a casting destination on my phone but I cannot connect to it. I have tried two separate phones and two separate apps (Youtube and Google photos).

Since a few days I have the problem that my remote control of the Shield TV is disconnecting after every reboot. When I connect it again it works but after the reboot it does nothing until I connect it all over again.

Has anybody a solution for this? I would be happy if you were able to help me! :)

I currently have a Sony TV which was manufactured in 2010. I'm soon wanting to upgrade to something that primarily has 4k support. What are everyone's thoughts around the new Sony Android TV's that are currently on the market? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews.

Also if the Sony Android TV can be rooted and have a custom recovery, like TWRP, then this would be a big selling point for me. There is nothing worse than having unnecessary apps that will never get used. :-)

Has anyone figured out how to control their Nexus Player (or other) from a laptop? I thought someone would have built an extension for that!

Hey there guys New owner of the Shield TV here. I've read everywhere that Netflix added support for the Universal Search back in June, however it still doesn't appear for me. Even on the "searchable apps" in settings it's nowhere to be found. Any help?

What could this mean for Android Tv? I don't think the current chip on the Shield has been fully utilized yet.
