I'm rocking a Sony Bravia KDL-50W809C (Late-2015 Model) which didn't receive the latest Android Oreo update.

I was wondering, is there a way to install it on my TV?

Justed connected my new box and so far a big disaapointment. With all of the preinstalled TV apps that I don't use and can't uninstall. Sling TV is preinstalled but it needs an update and it will not update. Apps that I want to install from tne play store will not download either. What the hell is going on? This should have been pretty straignt forward but look like I have a useless brick.

Desktop looking web browser on android TV?

Can you make Chrome (any browser) look like its running on a normal desktop pc?

I have the Xiaomi mi box s and have sideloaded chrome apk on it, but it looks as how it would on a normal Android phone or tablet. Which looks pretty crap on a 4k tv.

So I was wondering if anyone knows how to make this work? Ive tried searching but cant find anything of use?

Along this I would like to have adblocking so a browser like chrome on windows with ublock origin extention installed.

I have a TCL 65X4US and it has been working great until yesterday it wouldn't connect to wifi. I tried to turn wifi off and on, but after turning it off the wifi setting would not go back to on. I am now also unable to pair my air remote to the tv, which it could do before. I have tried rebooting the TV, turning off the power point for 1min and then back on but still can't turn wifi on. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a mi box and recently the Netflix integration with Google home and Android TV has stopped working. It's reverted to saying "I'm sorry I can't play Netflix on Android TV yet". Any ideas of what I can do? I've already tried clearing my data and uninstalling and reinstalling Chromecast builtin. And even factory resetting the device.

I just bought a Mi Box S. I'm looking for an app, or some kind of workaround, that plays YouTube live videos, and then by pressing a direction button on the remote, it goes to the next live video in the playlist. In a sense, I'm hoping to make YouTube work like cable TV where each live video would be a "channel".

Is this possible?

I'm setting up the box to be used by seniors, so I'm hoping for this to not have any learning curve for them.

Does anyone have this working on their Shield? If so what version?

So it seems in the UK I don't have alot of choice for a true google certified android box. From my findings there are two choices.... The shield (out of my budget by £100) or the Xiaomi Mi Box S. So if anyone has any other recommendations that i am not aware of that would be much appreciated, also I'd like to know what peoples thoughts are on the Xiaomi.

Hi everyone, first post on reddit. I play high bitrate 4K HEVC HDR files "flawlessly" through Plex, however, 10-bit files look good but not great, I notice colour banding in certain scenes. I went into my projector settings' info menu and it shows that the signal from the Shield TV is only 8-bit HDR. I assume this is the problem. I have automatic colometrity setting in developer options enabled, on the latest software update. Any advice to get the Shield TV to output in 10-bit will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Seems the issue resides with Plex. Edit2: Issue appears when Shield TV and/or media player reverts to the actual video file refresh rate of 23.98Hz, like what the hell!!

I'm still looking to find a decent IPTV app for my mi box S.

The main feature lacking in all the app I've tried is some proper channel management . It's an amazing thing to have access to 2300 channels with an IPTV provider , but let's be honest we only use a maximum of 50.

Anybody found a good app that easily allows to only show some channels ? Especially hide adult content !

possible to downgrade to android 7 on sony tv's? i've had nothing but issues with Oreo.

I'm interested in potentially getting a Jetstream box to replace my Mibox for my bedroom, since I'm sick of the constant issues with the Mibox - particularly the wake bug. Before anyone asks, I already have a Shield, but I don't really want to invest in two - I just want a decent mid-range box and have not been happy with my Mibox for a while now.

That said, can anyone recommend the Jetstream, particularly compared to Mibox? Anybody here have one?

1. My wife and I are looking to cut the cable and phone from our ISP.
2. We already have Fire Sticks on the two main TVs in the house.

The question: Does an Android TV box do significantly more in the way of content delivery than the Fire Stick?

Hi.

I am having a very strange problem with my philips 55pus6501/12.

The internet lately is acting strange. I have called my ISP provider who says that of the 1000mbps the cable can handle the tv is showing as only capable of receiving 100mbps.

I have tried everything regarding router, fiber box and have a cat6 cable. Whatever I try to stream lags and my download speed shows between 30 - 60 mbps and upload speed is around 550 mbps. They should be showing equal.

Does anyone know how to help?

I am trying to make my shield tv easy to use for the family with a basic clean interface, i have disable all other channels and only have apps showing.

1. We have about 8 apps which i would like to have in a grid format so you can see all the apps without the need to scroll .

2. remove customize channel button.

3. remove search bar at top.

4. if poss turn the setting button into an app icon .
