I've just set up my miboxS in the other room and noticed that there was an ABC iView app, I thought there just wasn't one but it turns out they haven't flagged it as compatible.

Has anyone sideloaded this? Does it work ok on the mibox 3?
Edit: just noticed it's listed as compatible with my shitty rockchip box that doesn't even have widevine L3
Evening ladies and gentlemen! Just in case you didn't know, Sony has released the Oreo firmware on their website. It has to be installed via usb for now. I just did it to my Sony 900e and installation was a breeze.

Hi all,
I usually don't post things like this but this is something I want to share ...
First of all, I have a Mi Box 3 for over a year now and recently I purchases the dream machine of this sub, the Nvidia Shield. I moved the Mi box to the bedroom and Shield on living room. I always liked the idea of watching live channels on android tv but I was a little disappointed reading here and on other forums that Google live channels app works only in US. It was hard for me to believe it though, so I decided to test some things.
I have an old USB DVB-T tuner, that I used in the past connected to an Enigma 2 Satellite STB for local channels without changing inputs on my tv. The tuner's name is "Crypto Redi PC 100". Crypto is a brand wide available here in Greece and as far as I know the tuner is same as the Geniatech T230. The tuner of course is not compatible with Shield and MI Box directly connected to the USB port, so I had to try something else.
I have a HP Proliant server under my TV that runs Ubuntu and I use it as a file server for all the devices in the house. Used to be my media player too, but I stopped use it that way after my first android tv box arrived. I had already try to install the tuner on ubuntu with no success in the past. Yesterday I decided to search a little bit more and I finally made it work with Ubuntu. I had read here about the tvheadend software and that there is an app for android tv that it works with live channels app. A little bit more reading and managed to install the tvheadend server on my ubuntu server. The hard part was the scan of the frequencies. Nothing worked in auto scan, so I had to find all frequencies details and add them manually on tvheadend. I am not sure if this a problem of the tuner or the tvheadend server. The easy part of course was the installation and configuration of tv head end app with live channels on both Shield and Mi box.
Shield is next to the server and the router and is connected with Ethernet. Changing channels is fast enough and the picture quality is acceptable. Greek FTA channels are not famous for their picture quality so it's fine. On the other hand, the Mi box is away from the router (I have a wifi repeater) and changing channels is slower of course and the picture quality is really bad. It's my first day with thetvheadend and I have to search if there are streaming options to improve the picture quality.
This is not going to change my life, because I rarely watch FTA channels. I have a paid sat subscription that only works with providers's STB. It was something that I always wanted to try and I am glad that it worked.
