My in-laws have been cursed with slow Wi-Fi speeds since the Oreo update. In fact, it's so slow, that they can't even stream videos (YouTube, Netflix, etc). I opened "Stats for Nerds" on YouTube and they're not even getting 1 Mbps download, the buffer health is poor (obviously), and the framerate drops are obscene.
I considered downgrading to Marshmallow (6.0), but I read that the Mi Box will just force another Oreo upgrade. Also, I don't want to risk losing DRM for Netflix.
So I thought that an economical solution would be to buy a Wi-Fi USB adapter. There are a lot of people out there who have bought ethernet USB adapters, but has anyone bought a Wi-Fi adapter? Which ones work? I am considering this cheap one from Amazon (they only have 100 Mbps internet anyway).
Edit - Thanks koshergoy:
find and flash Oreo bugfix build 2179
I'm going to download and flash bugfix build 2179 manually (I'm not part of the beta program), and report whether it resolves my issues.
Xiaomi Launched its mi tv 4a 32 inch at Indonesia with its custom OS patchwall with Android 6.0 but with Google play services for Android TV, Android TV play store, chromecast inbuilt in,google voice search.
I think this is the first TV which has official Android TV services in a custom Android operating system.
https://www.mi.co.id/id/mi-tv-4a-32/
The price is 1999.000 RP which translates to $150 for 32 inch TV.
Coming to patchwall : Its a custom skin made by Xiaomi for TV's. It's a Content discovery engine which aggregates content from all the streaming apps which has tie up with xiaomi and gives search result in single place,. The patchwall scrolling is infinite. So, you get better content recommendations.
But, I like for $150 a 32 inch TV with Google Android TV play services, play store and chromecast built in, is a great value for money
Since the official Twitch.tv app hasn't been updated for 2 years (2016.06.27) and it's pretty broken now. I haven't found any alternative, so i looked around github. Found TwitchDroidTV project, i used this as a base, development build. The current one is completely new, based on the default Android TV preset project.

FAQ:
Where can i change the video quality?
Well, you can't. Right now it's hard coded to 'Auto' quality. In future release you will be able to change it, because it's a pretty basic feature. But during the development Auto quality did a pretty good job, so i never felt the need for other options, but this can be different if you share your bandwidth with a lot of people.
What's that 'Tree icon' do?
Bob Ross mode: if you are watching a standard definition footage, with black bars on the side, you can shift the view to the left/right side, depending on your chat position. So you can watch the video and the chat, without overlap. It is demonstrated here.. This is also the default mode on Bob's channel.
Do you have keyboard shortcuts?
Yes, on the main screen:
R - Refresh
S - Settings
In the Player:
C - Chat On/Off
S - Chat size
D or P - Chat position
V - "shrink video"
B - Bob Ross mode
M - Stats for nerds
O - Kill Feed (shrinks the chat a bit, so you can see the kill feed, exp in Overwatch you see 3 rows of the KF)
L - (fast forward button), jump to the end of the stream, basically reload the video and sync it up with the chat. Video buffering "desync" the video and the chat.
I will implement controller support, since we have lot of shield users.
