I've ordered the mi box, and my wife first got excited when I told her about the possibilities to play the good old ones on it. Which emulators do you recommend and which gamepad? I've noticed the 8bitdo with Bluetooth on aliexpress, which looks interesting.

Looking for something I can keep on the table and type on instead of using the remote. I made a post a day or two ago about an Anker keyboard I tried but it won't connect even though it shows up in BT.

I am running a fairly simple setup - An OTA antenna connected to a USB tuner which is then connected to my Shield Pro (500 GB). The Live Channels app DVRs a few shows every week. Is there a way to export those recordings to a standard MP4, etc? I'd love to be able to place some of those recordings on my Plex server for archival or streaming to another playback device.

This is mostly for when my nieces come visit, and their mother doesn't like violent games. Any suggestions? This is for a SHIELD if it helps.

So I currently have a Brinonac BN8 that I’ve been using. However my connection to my basic network isn’t the strongest when people are home which causes constant buffering. I have a range extender now next to my room (where the BN8 lives) and apparently the 5G network won’t even show up on there. Is there another android tv box/player that the 5G will actually show Up? Considering just pulling the trigger on the Nvdia Shield.

I just updated my grandma's Mi Box to Oreo, and I just noticed this. Kodi says deinterlacing is off and I can't turn it on, and the HDHomerun app and the Live Channels app both say the same thing. It's really frustrating since the sports channels we have here are output at 1080i and they look choppy without the deinterlacing. Is there a fix, or am I going to need to get a new one?

Since coming back from holidays where tv was unplugged for a few weeks, all my channels are down twice in the guide. I can't use remote down button to go through it. I've tried installing all channels again to no avail. Anybody know about this error before I reset the TV. It's a Sony KD-65x8509c with latest update

I have managed to use the learn function to copy the basic remote but would like to implement some of the other functions like the RGYB buttons on the oneforall remote. Unfortunately I can’t learn these from the t95z remote as they are not there

I would like to get a xbr49x900f for my bedroom. I can only fit a 49-50" there. I am running shield boxes throughout my house. I have an LG OLED as my main TV with shield and smaller TVs in several other rooms also on shields. Would there be any benefits/drawbacks to put a shield on a TV that already has android tv out of the box?

I have a Kingston DataTraveler 50 (3.1 | 64GB) that I wish to use as extended storage for applications.

When I first put the usb stick (formatted as it was by the manufacturer, Kingston), the TV and ES Explorer recognized the device normally and I was able to browse the preinstalled files.

It gave me the option to keep it as a regular media disk, or format it for either use as recording device or extended storage. Extended storage was what I wanted. However, after trying to format the stick, it exits with an error "Format failed" (or something very similar). After that the USB stick becomes unusable, and Windows cannot format it with the built in format tool.

Partition Manager does work, and is able to see what seems to be going wrong:

The TV formats the stick to GPT (from MBR) and then attempts to create two partitions, one 16 MB (FAT32) and another for the remainder ("Other" - not EXT3/4, NTFS, etc.). The 16 MB FAT32 partition appears corrupted every time. The only option is to delete both partitions and revert back to FAT32 or NTFS, upon which point the stick becomes again recognized in both Windows 10 and the Bravia, but the TV keeps doing the same thing every time I retry to format the stick as extended storage.

I even tried a couple of impromptu hacks, such as reformatting only the first 16MB FAT32 partition in to FAT16 (because, AFAIK FAT32 isn't useable for such small partition sizes). I also tried deleting it and only keeping the "Other" partition. Nothing however.

Any known solutions? Has anyone been experiencing this? I cannot be the only one!

It happens quite often, 3 times a day at least. Whenever it does i can see that my local wifi appears saved & ready but it won't reconnect until i restart my TV.

The tv like every device in our house (PCs, Console, Printer..) set with static IP.

I've seen similar posts with no actual solution.

Just got this TV last week. Super bummed to hear my Google Home say that it can't turn on/off the Living Room TV, consult user manual. However asking it to play a nest cam or YouTube does turn the TV on.

Also, I can't seem to get the standard Chromecast home screen to respond to my album and temp settings in the Google home app.

Seems to me Chromecast Built-in is half baked and nowhere close to being as functional as a Chromecast ultra.

Hi all! I'm really struggling here with something that I feel Should be possible. I have a reliable VPN in UK, I am in US, and I like to watch channel4.com. I would like to watch this content on my Shield TV.

here is all the information I can think to give:

• The VPN provider I use has an Android TV app
• Channel 4 has an android app; it does not work on AndroidTV (in my experience)
• Channel4.com streams using Flash, so most (all?) browsers on AndroidTV won't work.
• My windows PC can play videos from Channel4.com but if I try to cast my tab to my Shield it does not cast the tab, it casts the content and re-streams from Shield so VPN no longer is active and content says I can't play in my region.
• My Chromebook can cast tabs and specifically NOT re-stream to Shield (has an option when sending fullscreen videos to play on both devices), but when connected to VPN on chromebook it does not use my local network at all for some reason, so it can't find my Shield as a cast target. If I am casting and then connect the VPN, the cast disconnects.
• I haven't tried my phone yet; my VPN app doesn't seem to be compatible with Android 9.0. I'm guessing it wouldn't work anyway because the phone app likely uses phone's GPS for location rather than IP.

so, any suggestions? It seems like this should be possible. I can watch the content on my computer and on my chromebook, but cant seem to get either going on the Shield or get a direct source on the Shield to remove that need to go through the PC/Chromebook.

Is it because most people don't type to the TV so who need to do it frequently have to buy a separate keyboard? But if they have an Android box, then they will search YouTube frequently, don't they?

I've had mine for a few months and it has been crashing constantly. This persisted after factory resetting it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

After I updated my Mi box to 8.0 my controller volume buttons are also acting as back buttons. So anytime someone trys to change the volume, they get taken back a page. Very annoying, I've done a full factory reset, unpaired controller, still having same issue .

Is there any advantages/disadvantages of owning a Mi Box 3 compared to just buying an Android OS TV?

I'm looking for a TV to buy, which I can use to cast my stuff and won't have a problem with playing all kinds of media. Therefore I'm looking for an Android TV as I have no idea how other operating systems are.

Do you think I should buy a TV without Android and use Mi Box or just buy a 4K TV with Android OS? Does it matter?

A friend of mine owns a Philips Android TV, 75XX series I think and it works perfectly with Kodi. It also receives frequent updates from Philips, so far. Yet, the only thing I'm reading about Philips TVs are bad stuff. I'm a bit confused.
