My WD hard drive was working just fine for a week or so, now it won’t show up anymore. Under ‘storage’ it says it’s ejected safely. The drive is formatted as exfat, tv is android. Is there a known fix?

Having a hard time finding whether certain apps are available with the Shield TV. I guess I'd like to use the Shield for its Plex server, Google Assistant, Android TV Web browser, and the following apps if the apps are availabe in Android TV:

Free Speech TV (their web site says it will work on Android TV but their wording seemed kinda iffy to me -- just wanna double-check)

RT America (availabe for Android phones, but not sure if this same app will work on Android TV? I think I read a lot of Android apps from the Google Play Store will work on Android TV, but not all.)

Channel Pear (web site says will work on Android devices, but doesn't mention Android TV specifically)

How good is Sony's PS Vue app for Android TV -- as good as it is on the Amazon Fire TV?

Is the Shield's remote control as useful with the "Web Browser for Android TV" as the Amazon Fire TV's remote control is for using the "Downloader" web browser?

Does "Web Browser for Android TV" have as robust an implementation of javascript as the "Downloader" app on Fire TV? Never seen javascript work so well on a TV box.

Im a bit of a visual guy, I notice when the quality in a stream is pretty bad. I often get a freebie to rent a movie and am starting to notice that the SD quality is not that noticeably different from the HD streams. There are some movies Id rather rent on bluray at a redbox just because the quality isnt top notch. What service do you guys think has the best quality stream?

Is there any way to delete files on external drives using the VLC app? When I’ve watched an episode from a series, I’d like to remove it immediately from the hard drive.

Hi I recently bought a mibox 4k For the past month everything was working perfectly , mainly using Kodi and YouTube apps

Two days ago I started having internet issues , the device is connected through Wifi to a router (currently I don't have long Ethernet cable- to hard wire it)

I noticed it first in Kodi , when trying to stream through different Kodi adding was not working

Then I noticed that the native YouTube app was taking a lot of time to load , while many times displaying a connection error message and not loading at all, when it does load, it takes lot of time to come up, and when trying to play any YouTube video , it buffers for more than a minute then plays it in very low quality

The next day the device worked like a charm but now it is back to the same issue

The device connects to the wifi without a problem , it shows that it has good connection. Moreover , all other devices at home (iPhones, iPad, laptops) work as usual without any slow down in net speeds

What is weird is that nothing was changed prior to this problem , so same router , same settings on router and MiBox, same position of router for past month .

Tried:- Disconnecting from wifi and reconnecting Forgetting the network and reconnecting Rebooting and reconnecting Rebooting the router and reconnecting Checking the date in the MiBox settings to make sure it did not "jump to a past date" Tried using static ip in MiBox settings

Has anyone encountered such problem ? I am starting to suspect that it could be some hardware issue

After completing initial setup and adjusting resolution settings, I went to my computer to get some things done and was surprised to see that my Mi Box was displaying an android update screen with the lable "installing updates". The status bar showed 3/4 when suddenly the screen went black. Usually when my TV looses input, it tells you with a text on one corner of the screen, but that didn't seem to be the case. Impatiently I waited for a signal, an image, anything at all but the minutes passed and still nothing. So; what do I do? I press the power button on the remote. Nothing. Again. Still nothing. A bit frustrated I reach out to my TV's remote and change the input to HDMI2 and then to back to HDMI1 (the port the Mi Box is connected to) only to see the "loading apps" screen. Sure enough the screen went black again a couple of seconds later. It continues doing this, usually whith a white frame one or two seconds prior to the black. I've tried different HDMI cables, hard resetting it, the only thing that worked was connecting it to my PC monitor (AOC G2460PF). Here it works just fine. I did not have this issue prior to the update. Any help is appreciated.

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone knows how to remove apps such as ‘Opera’ from the apps menu of the home screen. I have tried selecting the app by long pressing the middle button, this allows you to move apps and delete ones that you have installed, but not the ones which come pre-installed.

Yesterday, I began my free trials of Sling and Directv Now. Both worked well on my Roku. I also installed both from the play store on an old rk3188 android stick to use in another room. Directv Now doesn't work with rooted devices.

Does anyone use the Directv Now app currently on their Mi box? If so, how is it? I had planned on using android boxes for all the tvs for more flexibility than Roku provides and last night was a huge wrench in my cord cutting plans.

I've already looked and concluded that there is very little official support amongst torrent apps for Android TV - so I'll need to side-load.

I looked at the 3 best known - uTorrent, bitTorrent, and Vuz - and they all have remote control ability, but only for controlling desktop computer from Android. No support for controlling Android from Android, or Android from browser.

I would add that I tried uTorrent and the ads were totally over the top. I don't mind paying, but seeing such obnoxious behavior in the free version makes me inclined to look elsewhere.

Flud doesn't appear to support remote control.
Transmission has a remote app for Android, but no server.

Is there anything that satisfies my requirements?

Is it difficult to root the cheap android TV boxes I see all over amazon? I need it rooted, because I need to modify the host file for one of my Kodi addons to work.

Also, other than the Shield what device has the best support?

I just unlocked the Join by Joapps app on my Android phone and it wants me to pay again for the Android TV app? What?

Just updated, and it looks like Twitch is crashing. The screen goes black for a sec like its going to launch then back to the main screen. Anyone else experiencing this? Fixes? Pretty much the only reason I still use this Nexus Player is for Twitch. :\

I have a Sony W850C ATV and im looking for a USB3 nic for it. I do have it hard wired, and im looking to stream higher quality movies to it from my NAS. Im running into data rate limitation due to the built in port being 10/100... Are there any out of the box supported USB3 nics on the market that run at gig-e speeds on this particular TV? Im not sure if Sony cripples its ATV by distributing a limited number of drivers (built in), so hopefully someone has direct experiance.

I own a Mi Box 3 and tried too configure Syncthing and Resilio, but they seem to have problems accessing external storages due to permission limitations. Has anyone found another way to sync files?

I bought a Mi Box for my in-laws for their Netflix stuff, but also gave them a hard drive with content preloaded for other stuff too. I use PLEX at home with a Shield/Apple TV (sometimes Infuse) and have realized that it's quite different w/o a server. Mainly, it won't work well and most apps i've seen have no meta data or are poor GUI-wise.

Is there any alternative to setting up something that's almost as robust in GUI terms like PLEX? Currently i'm using SPMC and while it's sufficient, it's not very optimal and a lot less user friendly. Infuse for tvOS is pretty much the gold standard in usability and the fact that it does not require a server, something like that which can read off a USB attachment.

Anyone had experience getting a Logitech G27 wheel and pedals to work on Shield TV over gamestream?

I'm curious as i'd love to have a cockpit setup in living area via the Shield without having to relocate my PC. Could be the perfect setup.
