Want to buy a mi box and do some emulation. I have dual shock PS4 controllers I'd like to use. Would this work with the mi box? If not, what alternatives are out there?

MI box "no internet connection" when connected to wifi, nothing works but Netflix

Really weird thing is happening, I'm connected to wifi (tried 2 networks and a reboot) and the only app that is getting internet is netflix. Everything else tells me it's not connected to the internet. Spotify is just a blank screen. I can actually cast spotify, the music plays but I get a black screen.

Edit I think it had something to do with date /time, turned it on automatic and it seemed to fix things

Edit 2; nvm looks like it's still messed up?

Digital sounds auto detection is broken on Mi Box

I connected the Mi Box to two TVs, one LG and the other one a Sony TV, they both have Dolby Digital decoder built-in and it's active for HDMI input so when the Mi Box detects this it shows "SPDIF passthrough" below the auto detection option.

The issue is no sound was heard when I played back something, it doesn't matter what app is, no sound comes out of the TV's internal speakers, I had to switch it manually to "PCM" in order to get sound.

As far as I know, any audio should be heard, all the codecs should be reproduced except for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, which can be decoded so far ONLY by an AV receiver, other codecs like Dolby Digital Plus, Standard Dolby Digital, AAC and LPCM should be downmixed and played back with no problems.

Are you having the same issue?

Mi box software question - Patchwall

For the last week or so I have been looking at the vast number of options to make my old TV smarter. I understand the difference between Android boxes and Android TV devices. However, I live in Shanghai. The local Xiaomi (小米) products are the mi box 3c, 3s, and 3 (white). All of them are running an interface called "Patchwall". Other than that name I don't have any further information about the software. I think it may be a custom launcher over Android 6.0 but I would love some clarification if anyone knows. The only reason I ask is, the 3s locally is about 299¥, the US version with Android TV is imported from Hong Kong and costs about 600¥ for the same hardware. If the box is not running true android TV, is it possible to load the US / global SW on to it? Would it just be better to have the box imported from Hong Kong?

Thanks for any information and advice.

MiBox and HDMI CEC

Has anyone else had problems with MiBox using HDMI CEC? CEC seems to work for navigating and turning off the MiBox using my VIZIO TV remote but does not seem to turn on the MiBox when the TV is switch on. When I use the MiBox remote to turn on the TV (for which I had to hit the home button on the MiBox remote and not the power button for some reason) the TV just shows 'No Signal' and does not seem to get the HDMI output from the MiBox.

Mibox for Sony X900E - should I?

Hello all Bit of a pre-story: I live in China, so my situation might be a bit different from yours, but I hope you can still help me. I recently got a new Sony X900E tv, which comes with android tv. Everything works great, I can download some local streaming apps, the local equivalent of Netflix and what not. But I'm thinking if I should get a mibox. Will it give me anything that the tv itself can't? From what I see from description and comments it has a similar interface, can download the same apps, etc. So my question is, do I even need it? And another question: if I were to buy one, which one should I get? I'm looking at the available boxes and there are two different models both called Mibox 3. One is matte black, roundish, with a black remote (only available at resellers, not available on Xiaomi official account), the one that's also available on Amazon. Another one is what they call "Strong Edition" (pardon my loose translation) - a white roundish square one, doesn't look pretty at all, looks more like a router or something (this is the one available on the official account). Spec-wise they seem to be similar, except that the white one has two USB ports and the processor is [allegedly] six-core instead of quad-core.

MiBox issues

Got the ADTV Mibox and for 5-6 months it was working sweet, now it seems to crash on most apps, loose pairing with the remote and require manual resets.

I have factory reset twice now and it didnt exactly help, mainly we use netflix and it just freezes after playing a few seconds, other apps just crash to the launcher.

If anyone has suggestions to things i can do, my next plan was to find the nougat beta rom and see if that helps

Random Pop-up Ads Appearing at Random Times on Xiaomi Mi Box

Hey everyone,

I've been having a bit of an odd problem, which I think might have got fixed. However, I want to see what you redditors think could have caused it.

So I recently learned of the magic of APKs and how to install them onto my Xiaomi Mi Box and kinda went crazy. I found free versions of ES File Explorer Pro as well as MX Player Pro and I installed them with no problem through an APK I found online and Droid Buddy 2 respectivly. But when I went to play something for my daughter on the Disney Junior app, I all of a sudden got these random pop-up adds like you'd see in the free-to-play phone games and I knew that Disney Junior never did anything like that before. I figured it was nothing, figured they made some changes.

Things got really weird when I went into Netflix so that my wife and I could watch something. In the upper left-hand corner was a banner ad and I KNEW that nothing like that has EVER happened in Netflix before. So I figured it had to be some sort of app causing it. So I uninstalled Droid Buddy 2, ES File Explorer Pro, and MX Player Pro and put the free versions of the latter two apps back onto my Mi Box.

The ads seem to have gone away for the time being and I was wondering if anyone had this same problem before and could tell me what to lookout for. I figured that maybe it was since I pirated those two apps the random pop-ups were a way to tell me 'I dun goofed.' Also I was wondering for those who had Droid Buddy 2 if they had similar problems with these pop-ups. Any input and advice is welcome.

Mi Box remote not working.

New batteries in the remote, and mi box has the newest update. The remote lost connection one day (for no real reason) and now isn't recognized when trying to pair it. I can't unpair from the menu using the Android TV remote app. Has anyone had this issue?
