What's the best android tv box for less than $100?

Want to cut the cord. Right now I just have a Netflix account. But I'd like a box that gives me access to Netflix, Kodi, and any and all other streaming services that are good that I might not know about. I would like for it to have audio out options to connect speakers in the future. I would like it to have Wifi, 4K, and internet browser capability (possibly with included qwerty keyboard). Bluetooth so I can stream music from my phone to the box I would like if that's a possibility. Those are the features I can think of off the top of my head that I'd like. Budget: $100 So cord cutters what's the best option for me?

SPMC for Mibox. Which version APK to sideload?

I'm not in the US, so I can't download directly from the Play Store (which is weird, because I can download Kodi and a very old version of SPMC). When I go directly to the github download page for SPMC I find 6 different APKs available to download. Anyone know which one is the correct one for my Mibox?

Thanks!

Remote with voice search

The official TCL remote with functioning voice search unfortunately does not have a keyboard, which is a deal breaker. It's also too expensive for what it is (although I'd pay that price if it had a keyboard).

So I'm looking at this kind of remote because it has a mic, but I'm confused. The seller is kind enough to state upfront that it doesn't work with voice search, and one of the reviewers elsewhere on Amazon also confirmed it.

So if I navigate to the search box, and activate the mic, nothing happens? The audio isn't passed to Android?

I don't understand what the mics purpose is, if it doesn't work for voice recognition?

If the 'universal remotes with mics' don't work with voice search, what am I supposed to be looking for? What will work?

Thanks.

Netflix not working on Mibox3

Recently, Netflix stopped working on my Mibox3. It will play about 20 seconds of video and then give me an error (5.2.5). I chatted at length with a Netflix tech (past the normal customer service) and after doing all the troubleshooting he could think of, he said it was probably just a network issue. All my other apps work and stream fine...and Netflix streams fine on my wifi connected PC's. Anyone have any answers?

Wireless bluetooth headphones will not REconnect

I bought a pair of Philips Ultrlite. Great sound. They work flawlessly with my phone, our BQ tablets, and my ancient Cowon J3 mp3 player. Once paired, I just need to turn the headphones on with the desired device nearby, and they reconnect.

The headphones also successfully paired with my new TV. They worked well for an hour - great sound and no lag (EDIT: Terrestrial Digital lags, but no delay when using Apps though). Then after turning them off for a few hours and going back later, they will now not reconnect to the TV, even though I can see the pairing is stored in the AndroidTV bluetooth settings.

In normal Android, you turn bluetooth on/off and it refreshes, looks for paired devices and connects automatically. There is no such toggle in AndroidTV. It appears that AndroidTV only seems to refresh and look for devices when you actually pair them in the settings menu. So to use my headphones, I have to delete and re-pair them each time (which is unworkable).

I'm going to keep the headphones to use with my phone/mp3player, because they're awesome for the price. But can someone tell me what I should be buying instead, if I want a pair of wireless phones for us to wear while watching our AndroidTV television? I'm guessing the answer will be to buy a much more expensive pair with a charging station base which plugs into the TV's analogue out?

So why do TVs have bluetooth, if not to connect to a pair of bluetooth headphones?

Thanks for any information or advice.

Mi Box getting hot.

As the title says,

My mi box is constantly considerably warm and on 2 occasions is locked up on a green screen.

I do run it at 4k60hz.

Tempted to stick a heatsink on it..

Does it just run hot or should i be concerned.

Kodi is reporting -50oc on the CPU so i guess it lacks sensors.

My only gripe with the new YouTube app is different than most. When I use my wireless keyboard with the new app, the backspace button doesn't work, so I have to use my remote and navigate over to the onscreen backspace button.

I doubt there's anything I can do about this, but just in case, anyone know how to fix this issue (besides rolling back the update to the YouTube app)?

Is this TX2 - R2 box a good deal in comparison with a Mi Box 3?

I've been considering buying a mi box 3 for IPTV streaming. It cost around 70 euros on aliexpress. However, this popped up on my emails and it doesn't seem that much worse for a fraction of the price. Seems like a good deal no?

Anything new on the video call/conference front?

I haven't been following the ATV news too closely lately.

Is it still only Tellybean doing video calls on ATV?

Are there any new apps or news about tellybean dropping the fb/google login requirement, so that it would be possible to place video calls inside mainland China?

Cheers, B

MI Box no video with HDMI receiver.

I have a Pioneer VSX-532 and the MI Box on the April build of Nougat. When I connect the MI Box through the HDMI port on the receiver, my TV shows connected, but the screen is blank. When I plug the MI Box into the TV there is no problem.

I have a 1080p tv, and the receiver is capable of outputting 4k with HDCP 2.2. A first gen Chromecast is able to connect and display a 1080p picture perfectly fine.

Have any others experienced this? Does it have to do with Nougat?

I am so confused...

I just bought a Thomson C64 TV, and I thought I was getting Android on it, exactly like my phone. Instead I got this castrated version of Android called 'Android TV'. A case in point - the YouTube App on my phone is awesome, but the 'special' ATV version absolutely dire. I don't quite understand why I can't have the normal Android YouTube App on my TV?

And yet when I read these threads, you guys are saying 'Don't get the cheap, Chinese boxes with regular Android. Get a device with AndroidTV on it.' Could you explain to me why AndroidTV is better than a box with 'full' Android on it? At the moment I feel like AndroidTV is really crap in comparison, and it is destined to die and be forgotten by the OEMs and Google.

Can you help clear up my confusion please. What's good about Android TV? Because I have to tell you, my experience hasn't been good so far, and I'm not impressed at all.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the replies. It's really cleared things up.
