What the title says.. I'm thinking about getting a Mi Box but only if I can sideload SPMC onto it. I would just download it from the playstore, but I prefer version 15. Thanks in advance!

Im looking to pick up an android tv box to replace my apple tv that I absolutely hate. Do either the mibox or shield have universal voice search like the apple tv (i.e. asking to watch The wire and it will pull up all sources I can watch it on)?

It seems from my what Ive seen the mi box voice search only searches the play store, but I could be wrong. Im wondering if the shield has better capabilities?

Hi! So, I finally got my own place and am looking to buying a new TV - however I'm currently weighting two options.

1. Buying a TV and an Android TV device separately. (NVIDIA shield maybe because I have a PC with NVIDIA gpu)
2. Buying a TV with Android TV built in.

My concerns with the second option are the future update for the TV as I read some manufacturers not pushing out the update and also the general fluidity of the OS because I've seen some horrible ones :/ but I get why people would prefer one with built in Android TV to make things neater.

As for my budget I am looking at below $1k AUD and would really love to jump on board the 4k hypetrain and a good picture quality is high on my priority list.

Gave my Chromecast Ultra away and decided to replace it with a Mi Box. I love it so far but for some reason the Youtube app does not show my full subscriptions list. Is there anyway to view my full list? Clicking 'browse' only shows me recommendations and categories and clicking "my subscriptions" only shows me new uploads. It's really frustrating.

Ever since I updated my wired connection stops working occasionally and it forgets my NAS on every reboot, it is becoming a real pain in the ass. Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Uninstall all updates for the app from the Play Store then turn auto updating for the Play Store off. Apparently an update broke the app.

When I say issues, I mean A LOT of issues. Not sure if it's down to Android TV or Sony being useless but here we go:

1. I have a Sonos Playbar connected to the TV. During setup you use the built in IR receiver on the Playbar to allow control with your TV remote. Problem is now every time you adjust volume you get a "TV Volume is fixed" toast notification which I cannot work out how to get rid of.

2. Google cast doesn't work when using a wired connection. Works fine on Wi-Fi.

3. Kind of a follow up from number two but the TV cannot connect to any network devices or media servers when using a wired connection. Again this works over Wi-Fi.

It's listed as Dish Network AirTV and it's a far better arrangement than adding it as a Nexus Player.

The only one of the custom buttons available so far is the Sling TV button. The biggest problem that I had with the Nexus Player setup was waking the thing. That seems better so far.

I want to watch what's showing on the app, but it shows as if it's on a vertical phone. Is there any way I can tell the app to rotate to horizontal?

I am wondering, is it possible to connect several headphones, let's say like, 4, and have audio being transmitted to these devices simultaneously?

I have a mibox, a VPN subscription from PIA. Yet, getting sling TV to work outside of the US is surprisingly difficult. I've tried the official VPN app, and the openVPN app to connect to VPN. However I keep getting the warning that I am not in the correct region to use sling TV.

The VPN works fine on my Mac. Not sure what's the difference in android VPN... Anyone knows a fix for this?

I cant import the 500GB from amazon and its not available in my country, so im hoping somewhere in tokyo might have it.

Changing storage permissions under settings fixed the Netflix issues I had. Figured I let others know who might be experiencing issues with Netflix app on Mi Box.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it started working right after I went to:

Settings--->Downloaded Apps--->Netflix--->Permissions

And set "storage" to on which is off by default.

So, I had the stupid idea of buying a XIAOMI MI BOX on ALIEXPRESS (since i live in brazil and there's no other way of buying it here) but by mistake I bought the CHINESE version. Is there anyway I can root it and install android TV with NETFLIX ad stuff? Or any other solution to this HUGE problem I have?
