I've been using YouTube on AndroidTV (via Nexus Player) to watch tons of content without having to go through the hassle of pulling it up on my phone and using chromecast to watch on TV. Two channels I watch often are KhanAcademyMedicine and Mobility WOD. Each has 300+ videos and many playlists. However, I guess there was some kind of update to the app for androidTV because now it only allows you to scroll through 12 videos (or 12 playlists) total. Not at a time, total. This means if I go to their channels there is no way for me to browse to find the video I want to watch, unless it happens to be one of the 12 out of the 300+ videos they have.

I'm assuming this happened because there was an update. Is there any way to undo this? The list of videos used to just go and go and go.

I'm trying to cut down on clutter so I'm hoping I can get my media downloader/server/client on one device.

Now I use sickrage and couchpotato to grab nzbs, and nzbget to download. Then minidlna serves it up.

There seems to be many choices as far as usenet/torrent clients, but I can't find much are far as finding and maintaining shows or movies.

Is there anything comparable to sickrage and couchpotato for android?

Thanks to the last update that enabled the use of the right stick like a mouse cursor (and the sideload launcher) i now use a lot of sideloaded apps. I was curious to find a mobile reddit client that would mostly work out of the box with my Shield.

Btw i know of the existence of Hopwatch, but i wanted a client able to display comments because on subreddits like /r/videos they are often useful and interesting.

I found out that the two best ones are Relay and Sync, all the other ones had major problems working correctly with the gamepad. Relay interface in my opinion is better, the subreddit list on top of the app allows the user to change subreddit very quickly. Both have an internal youtube player. Sync has a mosaic gallery mode that is perfect for a tv screen. In the end, Relay handles the comment section better than Sync in my opinion and for this it's the one i chose.

I've got a 2015 model bravia & I'm pretty tired with all the spam that clogs my home screen.

What can i do to fix it? I've tried disabling apps, most won't let me & the rest are channels.

I've tried installing the HAL launcher that looked super promising but... Apparently after the update won't let me set it as a default launcher.

Is there any way to root & install stock? Or any other work arounds? It's a real bummer to own an Android device you can't customise, kind of defeats the purpose...

Hi all, I've been playing GTA San Andreas and it's great. One question though: has anyone been able to view the Map in the pause screen? There's a back for maps prompt on the pause screen but I can't get it to respond.

I have an ADT-1 from Google I/O, and while I am still working on the game I started on when I first got it, I was thinking about upgrading. Should I? Right now, I'm using the ADT-1 for development and gaming on my desk, and a Chromecast on my TV.

So I'm getting married in four months and my fiancée and I recently went over someone's house who had one of those cheap pre-loaded set top boxes running Android OS. We decided that it would be cool to get something like that, but the box was honestly laggy and slow and doesn't check all my boxes.

I spend 99% of my time in /r/Android and am a Nexus fanboy with rooted phones one of which is running Android N.

I am looking at the shield TV because of its fast performance and gaming ability which we aren't big on but we think it will be fun to do as newlyweds while recuperating from wedding and honeymoon costs.

I downloaded Kodi on my Nexus 6p and tried setting up things like 1Channel to use in addition to my paid accounts like HBO Go, GPM, FX, and Netflix. The issue I'm seeing is that even after setting up add-ons and prettier themes, it seems difficult/involves a lot of slow menu diving to get to watch a TV show and my fiancée might hate it. Whereas on the cheap box you'd just hit TV shows and start browsing the catalogue, you have to dive through a bunch of menus slowly on Kodi. Is Kodi this slow on the shield TV? Is there something that can emulate a better UI for Kodi that are wife friendly? I really want the shield TV to work for both of our use cases. And to throw out my gen1 Chromecast. Lol.

Also: any fun games you can reccomend for us as newlyweds? I haven't gamed since MarioKart on SNES. fuck.

Zattoo is not available on the Android TV app store outside of the supported regions.

If someone is living in an officially Zattoo supported region, could you please share the latest Android TV apk for Zattoo (version 1.7+)?

If your device is rooted you find the apk stored in /data/apps (you can use e.g. ES File Manager).

If your device is not rooted you can APK Extractor (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui) or use the Backup function in ES File Manager via Library --> Apps to copy APKs to your SD Card.

I sideloaded an international TV channel's app to my Shield TV that I typically use on my phone to stream live video of that channel. When I tried to play that live stream on the Shield, I got an error message saying that the Shield cannot play the video. I am assuming that I am missing something, maybe another app like VLC? Can you guys think of what I could do to resolve this issue?

Are updates to the Android TV platform for TV sets with Android TV rolled out by Google, or can a consumer only hope that their expensive TV set will get updated by manufacturers like Sony?

I recently purchased an nVidia Shield TV for the sole purpose of streaming content (Netflix and HBO Now, mostly).

It was working fine with the Smart DNS service I signed up for (Borderless Internet) until yesterday, even with no routes blocked on my router (Asus RT-AC87U). Now, All I get is local Netflix and no HBO Now.

I then proceeded to block ALL suggested routes on my router, but it didn't help. A fellow redditor mentioned that "nVidia released new updates that make geo-unblocking tougher". Is that true? If so, is there anything I can do about it?

Any help is appreciated. I tested Borderless Internet's dynamic DNS servers on my laptop and they worked, so it's clearly an issue with the Shield TV.

I've been tinkering with the Sony NSG-MR5U key layout file, and I've almost got it perfect. My problem, is that after a few minutes of inactivity, the review disconnects. Pressing any button will allow it to reconnect, but some poorly written apps(HBO Now, Sling) restart whatever show I'm watching on a reconnect. Any tips on preventing Bluetooth from disconnecting on idle?

This has been going on for some time, but I can be watching Netflix or Hulu or a random video through the dedicated Video Player, or even listening to Pandora.

What happens is the video starts to lag a bit and then it just pauses or freezes. The volume indicator will come up too. Usually I can hit the Play button to start it back up but some apps require a complete force stop and reopen.

This happens roughly on a 30 minute interval when the TV is on.
