Mi Box (Gen.1) Audio Issues

I just bought a new tv, plugged in the mi box, and now audio cuts out in between sentences when characters talk.

It like cuts out the ambient noise. It’s very very annoying. It only happens on the Mi Box. This never happens when watching through antenna tv, or my asus chromebit.

Could this be a faulty hdmi cable? Or is it the newest update to the Mi Box?

Has anyone converted old XBox One into an Android TV?

I have an old XBox one that is out of warranty and the HDD failed. Before I attempt to reformat the drive and resurrect this Xbox I'm wondering if there is anyway to convert it into something similar to the Nvidia Shield.

I dont know how to use the online apk makers, so if anybody has a solution or instructions on how to use the online tool please let me know!

Sony KD55XD8005BU update

Hey. I'm new to the subreddit. I wondered if anyone knew if Sony intends to continue to update their old Andriod TVs or whether I'd need to hack it to get the latest update on it.

Anyone else with one of these Sony TVs find they are quite slow?

Need help : My Sony xBR-49X830C Android TV is not switching on

I bought my Sony XBR-49X830C Android TV in May 2016. It was working fine till last Sunday and it started restarting every 5-10mins. I thought it may be due to a software update or due to the streaming app. I tried to check solutions for it and tried to factory reset but it didn't worked because the TV was never going into Initial Setup mode after reset restart. I've contacted Sony support and they connected to my TV using remote support feature and it restarted multiple times while they were checking the issue. The gave me a Case number and told me to call the Sony support on Monday.

Monday morning I tried to call the support but surprisingly the TV is not even switching On now. I checked the outlet power and moved TV to different outlet, tried to switch it on using TV power button on the back but nothing works.

I contacted Sony again and explained them but they are saying since the TV only had 1 year warranty, I need to get it fixed from outside repair service as there is no Sony service center near to my city and the nearest was about 100 miles away.

I'm so confused about what will happen to a TV suddenly. Never ever in my life I have seen a TV gone bad suddenly without any issue.

Please help me how can I get it fixed?

Netflix is not working with Android TV

My TV had Android TV so I downloaded Netflix from the Google Play Store. Everything else worked. The only thing with a problem when I tried to watch Netflix was it had an error saying "This account can not be used on this device" I searched the error code and it did not help.

Please help me. Everything else works even YouTube.

Also error code is tvq-pb-103 (1.10.5003)

While Netflix Help is reporting error 'Your account is on hold because of a problem with your last payment.' instead

Question on installing ordinary (non-TV-optimised) Android apps

I am considering buying an Nvidia Shield TV, but my question applies to Android TV in general: is it possible to install ordinary, i.e. non-Android-TV optimised apps through the google play store?

Let's say I want to install a VPN client; will google play show me the client only if there is a TV-optimised version? Will it let me download the app anyway, maybe telling me it's not optimised? Or do I have to download the apk and install it manually (which means no automatic updates)?

Thanks!

Use phone's Google assistant to play youtube on android tv

Hi, Does it work for you guys? I think it worked for me at the past... I'm playing around with the Google home application, and I'm able to turn on, off and volume control on my Android TV (Nvidia shield TV).

Weird thing is that the Google Assistant on my phone is saying "ok, playing on shield" but nothing happens

New favorite thing for my MiBox

Sorry for what has probably been obvious to most of you for some time but I had to share.

Recently got a pair of noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones for Christmas. I have issues with noisy/stomping neighbors so these things actually cancel out sound extremely well and I can finally get some peace. It ruins my movie watching experience to the point I don't enjoy watching blockbusters and having the atmosphere ruined.

Anyways, I had a thought and paired my Bluetooth headphones to the mibox and Bam, amazing sound and no background noise to watch movies/tv. Also can use it if the wife is working and doesn't want noise. I know you can buy adapters for TV's but not everyone has these and can be clunky to set up. Amazes me now that most new TV's don't have Bluetooth built in for this reason.

Wanted to share. Hope this helps others. As far as performance, sound quality was good, didn't cut out and no lipsync issues

MiBox S 4K - On-Screen Keyboard Not working ( Gboard Keyboard gray out)

The default Keyboard app Gboard (yes Gboard is installed as a System app) stopped working and now i can't use the On-screen keyboard for searching. I notice that the Gboard app is gray out if the other "native" Input Keyboards (Korean,Pinyin, etc) are disable. Even if i I enable them, and toggle the Gboard switch on and off the keyboard still doesn't appear.

When Input Keyboard toggles are disable

When Input Keyboard toggles are enable

I already tried:

- Disable and enable the Gboard app

- Force stop

- Clear data & Cache

- Restart Mi Box

- Uninstall updates and later install them

- Side load the app

- Change the system language (mi Box) and then change it back.

- Changing the Keyboard language to system app or "English (US)"

- Delete Google App data and cache, Force stop, Uninstall Updates.

If i choose one of the Keyboard inputs ( Korean, Japanese, Pinyin) their respective on-screen keyboard appears. but somehow the gboard app doesn't.

My last resort is either install another Keyboard app or factory reset the Box. Is there any chance a fix for this problem or any keyboard app that works without problems.

Thanks in advance.

Why do android tv box give 20% worse picture and sound compared to original reproduction?

I was watching mkv movies, usually H264 via USB drive on my old Philips 37PFL4606 model without a problem. Because it doesn't have support for H265 I decided to buy Mecool M8S PRO W 2GB RAM 16GB ROM android tv box. I was dissapointed because no matter what I do, it gives me delays every few minutes.

The main difference is that whenever I watch the same movie over TV box or directly via TV I notice difference in picture and sound quality.

Picture is always sharp, while on tv box, it is smooth rather than sharp.

Sound is perfect. Bass, deepness of all sounds and everything. TV box has more high tones and almost no bass, but overall volume is anoying, since it is very loud but no actual deepness and strongness.

I can compare movies over TV BOX same as "used" while TV has "new". Well I would be happy to know if this is everywhere? For example I converted some youtube mp4 movies and put the on USB flash drive. When I tested them on TV, everything is perfect, over TV box 20% worse. Same issues as mentioned.

Do you notice the same difference with your TV Box? Is that normal? I've trind bunch of setting optimisation with no success.

Optical vs ARC re: audio delay

I have two Sony Bravias. Old very old, and a newish one with ATV. The newish one supports ARC and works beautifully with my soundbar. But I moved my soundbar to my old TV without ARC, and hooked it up with optical. Now the sound is delayed significantly from the picture. I googled this and found it is a common problem, with no solution.

So I am looking for some kind of HDMI splitter that supports ARC in the same way my Bravia does. Something like 1 source input and 2 outputs, the ARC and the video. Does such a device exist? And has anybody had any luck with one?

Is it me or is the UI terrible - can it be changed? (Sony X900E)

I really want to like my TV more, it's about a year old now, and the UI is not good at all. This is what it looks like and it is not customizable at all. I can't remove those apps or move them - I literally only use the YouTube, Netflix, FoxSports, AmazonVideo, and might start using the Spotify one but that's it. I'm not interested in the other 30 apps that are shown and I can't even move them and have to scroll all the way through and find what I'm looking for.

I also haven't been able to do any software updates - it does say that it's up to date but I also see a widget with an envelope talking about software updates that didn't appear there before.

Is there a way to manually change it or check if it really is updated? Connectivity hasn't been great either. I tried factory reset but it's still the same as before.
