Hey there, I recently got a Mi Box S (yay Christmas). I have been able to stream from my smartphone from the Google Home app, but I just can't seem to cast from my laptop (Browser, stremio, ..).

Has anyone been able to do this or is it just not possible?

Is there any android TVs (mi box, ecc) so that it's possible to install third parties apps on them? I mean install apps not from google play store

Hi guys, I have a mi box 3 running Oreo update. I am trying to copy some Kodi files to it from my windows desktop. Tried es file explorer and drew myself crazy. The remote manager is missing and I'm not able to start ftp server. It some something new called " files on pc". I tried to turn it on but would not budge. Is there something easier or other apps i could use? Thanks.

I'm looking to get a couple of android TV boxes for streaming sports TV shows and movies. I live in Ontario, any suggestions as to the best one?

Hi my remote stop working or probably the box stopped responding to it.

• changed batteries
• reset device
• confirmed remote working by paring it to phone
• confirmed device working by pairing it to android tv app on phone

The problem is I reset the device and now the back and home button combo necessary for setup won’t work.

What are your top Google play store apps or games that don’t come preloaded that you can’t do without?

I prefer using this SPMC app instead of Kodi because it's built specifically for Android TV but have not updated my Shield TV for the last three updates since everything works great for me just and I have everything I want and didn't want to run the chance of screwing everything up. I'm considering updating the the most recent Android TV 7.2 update for some of the other features but wanted to know if anyone is still able to use SPMC 17.6 or specifically (SPMC 17.6a2) instead of Kodi? I can use Kodi but just prefer SPMC even though I know it's no longer maintained.

as of now, I used to copy mkv/mp4 videos to my external drive, connect it to my TV and play it there (being able to use start/stop/pause buttons etc).

As I ordered a MiBox 4 with Chromecast capabilities I was wondering whether I could stream single video files from my PC to the MiBox? What I do NOT want to do is to mirror the whole PC screen to the MiBox because I couldn't use start/stop buttons on the MiBox remote. Hence I want to stream the video but really play the network stream on a native videoplayer app to be able to use the remote.

so I own a tv with 4.3.3 and thinking to get mi box S, is there any way I can keep Tv on the network and use the button on mi box remote to turn off?

Hey, so my computer and my mibox are both connected by etherent cable to the same network, and I'm wondering is there a way to cast from the computer to the mibox?

I just wanted to have a whinge, coz it's become really annoying. The Netflix app has to be one of the most frustrating apps on Android TV.

1. it randomly stops (sez it's loading and stays at 24-25%). I have to jump out and clear the data to get it to continue.

2. you cannot press back to get back home and out of the app. You have to scroll down to exit just to get out of the app.

I’ve been using my PS4 controller with the Shield to play some Steam games over gamestream.

I had it working perfectly with Assassins Creed 2 and some other games last night, I went to play again this morning and when connecting the controller to the shield it’s not working. I’ve used Bluetooth to connect the controller but it doesn’t do anything after it’s connected, I can’t navigate menus or play any games with it. Not sure why it suddenly stopped working?

Just purchased a Mi Box S and I am having some difficulties with sound not outputting in 5.1 surround.

I have an LG 4K TV that is connected to Samsung home theater system through optical cable from the TV.

I am able to get 5.1 surround sound from the movies I play using the TV's USB input, and also from my PlayStation games.

However, when I am playing movies through VLC or MX Player in the Mi Box S, the sound only coming as 2.0 stereo. I tried all the different settings in the Mi Box S sound (output was set to PCM and changed it to Auto), but still getting stereo sound.

I know for sure that my TV supports 5.1 through my current setup since movies and PS4 work just fine.

So, what am I doing wrong here? Or is this not supported with Mi Box S?

EDIT: Guys it turns out that under VLC settings there's an option in Audio section to enable pass through audio. I enabled it and now getting 5.1 surround sound from DTS only. DD not giving 5.1.

I got a new 4k tv, and am looking at ways to get the most out of it.

I'm really liking my plex set up, my tv has a plex app built in, while I know its limited, but works mostly for what I do.

I read alot about the shield, so i went to go pick one up.

For $200, i'm kinda wondering what else I can do with this thing? I can stream my plex flawlessly where with the tv it requires a bit of buffering, but For the price, i'm not really impressed, unless i'm missing something?

What all can this thing do to help me feel like i'm getting my moneys worth? For $200 i'm leaning towards returning it and just have my tv buffer every now and then.
