I know this question might now belong here but i figured you smart people would know better then. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good IPTV service. I don't know if Canada or US matters but i live in Canada. There is one offered by my ISP but you get about 6-10 channels for 18 bucks a month and those aren't including the sports or movie channels so it just doesn't make sense.

Any help would be great. No real price range just good quality streaming and a good variety of channels.

Like you do with a Chromecast for sending videos, pause, etc.

How integrated is Assistant in the Mi Box S vs a Chromecast Ultra?

Man I've been really disappointed with Apple lately.

Google's Pixel 3 event really got me to want a Google Home Hub and convince me that the Pixel 3 would be OK to switch from iPhone.

I'm also trying to decide if I want to go all in on Alexa or Google Home for my smart home.

BUT the TV options are a little sub-par in my opinion.

I'll say my Apple TV 4K isn't perfect for sure but it's solid.

So is the Nvidia Shield, but I feel like it's a little dated.

I got really excited that there's an always listening assistant but only if you buy the ugly game controller and leave it sitting out someplace it can hear you. Even then it won't turn the TV on to acknowledge your requests with visual cues from what I've read.

Also I looked into the Chromecast Ultra, but that seems to have missed the refresh wave...

Wouldn't it be perfect if Google unveiled a Pixel TV!?

I'd like it to be like the Amazon Fire TV Cube, where it sits on your entertainment center, listens and responds to you with a little built in speaker that could respond if visual aid won't help the response or turn the TV on and show Google Home Hub like results. It would use the cheap speaker to tell you it was doing something and then switch to the TV speakers after a time delay to account for TV startup time.

It would support multi-room audio with your other Google Home devices.

It would have a pull down menu similar to the Google Home Hub that you could access from the remote that's stolen from the Apple TV, I love that thing!

Of course the remote would control TV volume just like the Apple TV.

I know many don't like a thing sitting up on the entertainment center, so maybe the remote could always be listening and have a little speaker in it to respond immediately.

That would have gotten me to switch to the Google ecosystem.

So, I have to appleTV 4s, and I love em . I am very excited by the fact that android TV comes with chromecast capability as well, which is very important for me. In a nutshell, I need what appleTv offers plus the chromecast function. Here is what I need:

1080 video.

Preferably IR remote - I use Harmony 650, and I love it. And I really hate to have more remotes than one per TV. I would by one with hub if I had to, Id rather not.

Preferably a newer model, so it would last me some years. Not concerned with gaming at all. Nvidia seems to be the standard, but it's steep price , no IR remote is the reason Id rather get something else.

Also, I am very concerned with the apps I have access to. I

Plex, Netflix, HBO go, Youtube, Kodi or at least a decent fork ( I use MrMC with Apple TV) and NFL gamepass europe. I would really love to be able to check which apps are available for the androidTV. After some googling, I found a page that lists like 15 apps, and that is. Is there a good STB emulator for apple TV. Watch NRL app?

I can map the drives on my phone, pc, wife's pc, etc (removed and re added multiple times)

But my shield fails to discover and if I manually put the ip in still no joy.

I've used kodi, built in mounting options u ddr storage, and a random file manager that allows mounting.

The thing is... Its worked fine for 2 years. It just stopped working seemingly after the last update

My parents just bought a Sony TV with it (will be delivered in a couple of days), and I'm not close enough to them to be able to go to their house and show them the ins and outs, plus I don't have any experience with it myself.

Is there a video or something out there that shows tech illiterate people the basics of it, like how to download/remove apps, how to customize the home screen, etc?

Seems like only randomly get lyrcis. Anyway to ALWAYS get the lyrics for a song?

So after years of using firesticks/xbox's/Chromecast for my media consumption and staring on jealously at Nvidia shield users, I've finally bought my own.

I have Live channels setup, Spotify,YouTube, 4k video through prime video and netflix and a Plex server setup feeding the shield client and Kodi. So I'm asking, what else should I do?

I've some experience with tasker, smartthings, Alexa and Google home - anything I should do involving those and the shield?

I find the inbuilt Google assistant a little underwhelming to be honest. It doesn't show me prime video content and is buggy when clicking through to Plex. Often having to hit "retry" to get it to play. I got a free Google home mini with it which I'm yet to set up but will do if soon.

Tl;dr bought Nvidia shield, what do you recommend doing with/to it to get the most out of it?

Edit: I'm not a gamer so probably won't take advantage of the shield's abilities in that regard!

I just moved into my own place and I was wondering if anyone had experience with using an Android TV device with a 4K projector.

• Will Android TV devices output 4K over HDMI to a projector?

• I also have a co-ax cable for my TV. Are they any devices that will accept that feed?

Looking to do the usual stuff, Netflix, YouTube, etc. Nothing terribly fancy like streaming a collection from a home server or gaming.

I started getting the startup screen with the icons but it would never go beyond that. A few days ago, it stopped displaying anything.

What I've Done
I've tried multiple HDMI cables and TVs.
I've changed 3 sets of batteries in the remote. (I cannot do the reset via remote.)
The power lights are on the mibox.
I took out batteries for 10 seconds while mibox was plugged in, pressed "OK" and "back" button at same time, unplugged the box, plugged power back in and nothing. I've also tried the back and circle button to see if i can get the controller to wake up then retry the reset.

I put an update zip file on a USB and plugged it in the usb port, plugged the power back in and nothing. I don't care if it erases everything, I just need it to work again. Any ideas?

I'm based in the UK - so I'll do my best to make this as internationally friendly as possible.

For years, I've had my standard DVR box (YouView via TalkTalk) that records my free OTA channels. Then, when I want to watch something on Plex I either use my Fire TV Stick, or Cast it to my Chromecast (depending which I've got plugged into the TV at the time).

I'm getting more and more into using Plex, and now the majority of my TV watch time is Plex Content (probably about 99%). Even the stuff I would usually have recorded on the DVR, I've now got on Plex within an hour of the show ending.

So while I could just throw the DVR out the window and stick with plex, incomes my partner. They're not as technically savvy, loves to flick through the programme guide and watch live TV when I'm not about.

I'm loving the idea of a NVIDIA Shield, as it's got the gaming function, strongly believe it'll be far better for Plex and it looks so nice. BUT - I have to have the Live OTA TV function....

Do I just get an adapter? Or is there a box out there that can do what I want already? My research isn't looking positive.

For the longest time I would be unable to connect to several of my Nexus Players with the stock AndroidTV remote app. You would select Manage Connection and then the appropriate player and it would just go straight back to the list of players.

I finally figured out how to fix it. On the nexus player, go to settings, Apps and the find the Android Remote Service under system apps and click on it. Select Clear Data and then try to link the remote again.

This is the third time I am having to clear the chrome cast data sitting on 3.8gb. I've now disabled it hoping this will solve the issue.

Strange thing is that I NEVER USE chrom cast.

So I used to have the previous firestick, I just sold it once amazon announced the new version “mostly cause I hated the old remote since it can’t control the volume” Overall I liked it, it was a good value for money though I felt it was kinda laggy to be honest. But anyway, now that the new mibox is coming out at the same exact date as the new 4K stick, I’m not sure which one I should get, I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the mi box on this subreddit but it didn’t help much. I’m gonna be using it for streaming Netflix, kodi and Iptv. No gaming whatsoever.

Anyone else have this issue yet? The channel is still playing, but no inputs from the remote are registering, and my phone can't connect to it as a Chromecast (though it can still see it as a target).

Having trouble managing free space on my new Jetstream. Have put in an SD card,have formatted it and have successfully migrated app data (particularly Kodi data) to the card. Can I move apps to the card, and if so,how? TIA

I have a hisense H9E plus which has a redacted version of google play store. It does have es file explorer so I’d imagine there must be a way to side load apps. Just not sure if there’s a tutorial or something out there. From what little searching I’ve done, everything seems to be for tv boxes and tablets but nothing specifically for the tv OS.

• having a nice/simple UI as close as possible to stock
• offering regular updates on the latest Android version
• I guess it should have a remote too ;)
