Since the recent added feature allowing voice control of the Nvidia Shield TV, I've been able to use commands such as as, pause the Shield, resume the Shield, turn up the Shield, etc with my Google Home and/or Google Assistant on my phone. However, the exact same voice commands do not work for anyone else in the house. They receive a message saying sorry, "I can't find that device" etc. Any ideas? We've tried rebooting the Home and the Shield with no success.

Curious if anyone has gotten FX+ on Android TV? I signed up for a 7 day trial yet see no changes to the AndroidTV app. For example the AndroidTV app shows no episodes for "The Americans" but my phone app shows the whole series. In settings it shows FX+ and claims it is only available for xfinity customers. Is this just a lack of updates for the AndroidTV FXNOW app? Or am I overlooking how this works.

Hi all, just bought a brand new Mi Box 3 with preinstalled 6.0.1 firmware version. This is my second Mi Box box and on the first one I had no problems upping to 8 (had connectivity problems afterwards though, but fixed that with a more powerful router). However, on this one it just says that the system is up to date. Any ways to overcome this?

Should I keep it? Is it worth it?

Has anyone received a notification if their Mibox S is ready for pickup? My Walmart account said it would be ready for pick up today but it is still showing processing order

I looking to move away to from cable for football, and would like use realiable acestreams and stream links. Especially as travelling for work will means i will be occasionally away during the week.

For me the saving of SkySports(£47) and BT Sports(£35) means the shield sounds like a good option, it is just the outlay and the price of MiBox making me think otherwise.

Anyone use either for football streams successfully? Can you copy and paste on either device with a bluetooth mouse?

Update (12/10) 12:21pm: People in this thread are either give mibox a try or hate it with a passion, so i tested an IPTV stream on 2 tablets, one near matching Mibox, and another matching the Shield.

Tablet( near MiBox): Not choppy, however dropped the buffer/restarted every other 5 minutes or so on a 1080p60 stream. Tablet(Shield): Ran perfectly, no stuttering.

the issue I'm thinking about is that it might be hard to reconnect the remote to the box after a while. When I try to turn it on sometimes I have to pull the plug on the box and restart it, then I'm able to reconnect and use the remote.

I know there's a newer version of the official remote, is this better?

Is there a good alternative to the xiaomi remote?

I bought the box new last year in a August. It's been great until last night. The box froze, which is no big deal, but after a reboot, it wouldn't respond. Tried unplugging it over night and this morning, same thing. As soon as you click anything on the remote, the red light on the front of the box goes off and the box locks up. Can't use it at all.

Any idea? I'd hate to have to throw this thing away and buy a new one already...

Update- factory reset fixed the issue.

I was at work when this happened, my wife had been texting me. I factory reset after work and it's fine now.

Update2- nope, worked for about an hour and locked up again.

Update3- Final update (hopefully). As suggested by /u/koshergoy it seems to be resolved now. Thanks guys.

Using an app that integrates great with Android Live TV Channels. The only drawback I have found is that the FF speed is very slow. Even at the highest x5 Speed, it only advances the video 8-9 seconds.

Can this be changed from the app developer, or is this locked into the Android Live TV Channels api?

I currently have an X96 Mini. It works well for the most part. I use Kodi and specific purpose apps (i.e. MLBTV, DAZN) etc. mostly with no issues but sometimes I wonder if the hardware and software is not up to par for what I need. Here are the issues I experience:

1. The interface is not that good - locked in apps on the main screen and I can't paste my favourite apps to the main screen;
2. I can almost never stream from the internet - lags too much and freezes;
3. Outdated look of interface;
4. Doesn't appear to be 5G compatible;
5. Constantly slow and laggy despite only using about 60% of the available memory

I am looking to purchase a new box but I'm not an expert on android boxes and would like some suggestions on which would be good for me.

I want a box that has a lot of processing power. Where I can download a lot of apps and run several simultaneously. I also would like for the box to be small (unlike the shield) but I can compromise on that. Preferrably I'd like to get a droid box that has a modern interface where I can customize the apps shown.

Hello, tried updating it from android 6.0 to Oreo and now its stuck on recovery mode. Wiping data and factory reset are not working out, any suggestions?

Also when I use the update file without extension it keeps rebooting and showing the MI logo

Have anybody bought a genuine spare remote for the MiBox? Ideally i would like to buy the newly released one, but doubt it will be an option that soon after release.

Before the update I could easily choose Static IP con. and set its parameters. Now after a long time that Im on oreo Its asking for the IP address but doesnt popup the keyboard and doesnt react when pressing the middle choosing button (its already set on an IP)

I know I can set it on the router but I forggot its admin pw and trying to avoid resetting it.

Hi folks, I have a little issue I was hoping to maybe get some feedback on...

I purchased a 2017 Nvidia Shield TV not too long ago, and I was disappointed to see that, while content is displayed in 4k, the actual UI of the shield was not. I found it distracting, and eventually found a way to actually render the UI properly in 3840x2160 (4k), and am VERY happy as it looks just as good as I had hoped.

HOWEVER, I noticed that when using a mouse to navigate, the cursor while on the RIGHT half of the screen will for the most part flicker out of view, making where it is on that side of the screen a complete guesstimate. It still will click, it just becomes invisible, sometime coming back into view for a split second. Basically the closer the cursor is to the LEFT side, the more reliably it will be visible. It's all very annoying, and I feel like it's the ONE thing keeping me from enjoying this thing to the fullest (well, some apps don't like the changed resolution, but I can deal with that).

There have been moments where it seems to function fine, but then later will begin flickering in/out again later. I have no clue what made it work temporarily. I've played around with different display densities, tried various remote mouse apps, and nothing so far has worked. There is ONE thing that seems to remove the issue, and that is when an overlay message/menu is drawn in/over the app I'm currently using, the mouse works 100% normally! I thought this was interesting, and maybe could be a clue as to what might be causing this irritating and, some might say, insignificant issue.

I would REALLY appreciate any suggestions anybody has to offer!

Hi all. I was hoping I could get someone to assist. My Mi Box 3 has recently become unresponsive. The other day the device froze and I was forced to pull the power cable to shut down. However, now the device wont boot. The first couple times it would get as far as the logo page but now I cant get anything to display on the screen at all. Ive tried holding "ok" and "back" on my remote when booting but I am unable to get anything to show up on the screen. Changing batteries in the remote, new HDMI cable, and changing TVs all have not had any success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
