Just spent more time with tech support having them try to fix the "Playback failure" problem. After about an hour they claimed if their system detects Kodi Hulu will stop working. I am using Nvidia shield and Hulu app from the Google play store

All i see in retailers are chromecast, while roku, firetv & APL tv are all filled with stock. if google were committed to androidtv, why havent they made a big effort in it

I have been running into the daily ritual of coming home, turning on the TV to find out the remote doesn't respond.

Normally even trying to the android remote app is of no use, requiring me to get up and physically removing power for a few seconds.

Has anyone else seen this?

The video player app that comes with my Sony X900F TV doesn't really fast forward. You press on the fast forward button and whatever you're watching doesn't start playing any faster, it just jumps ahead 10 seconds. I installed VLC, but it does the same thing.

Is there a video player app that I can install that will actually fast forward and not just jump ahead by a few seconds?

I have three miboxes. Two updated no problem with the OTA that says "adds audio menu and fixes wifi issues. The third now freezes during the animated Android letters or gets to the "Android" in white font and freezes. It freezes at different points in the boot process.

It's the newest of the three, perhaps three months old.

Is it bricked, or is there a way to use the USB to recover it without being able to access any recover menu since it won't do any successful boot?

I've been looking into purchasing an Nvidia shield TV as an upgrade from a Chromecast but everything I've read in my research has said that you can't use Google home to cast Netflix with a voice command. I know this will be a deal breaker for my girlfriend. Currently she just has to say, "ok Google, play the office" and the TV will turn on and start playing where she left off. Are there any workarounds to get this same functionality with the shield and Google home? Has this function been fixed since it was last posted about? Is there any additional functionality that would make up for this? I know you can't use voice to cast Hulu. Does that work with Android TV?

Hey guys, It's been few weeks since I finally switched from an old Philips Google TV to a new Philips Android TV.

There is one thing that annoys me quite a bit, is that the settings menu of the TV don't match with the ones of Android TV, they are simply completely off.

Do all the brands implement settings menu that have nothing to do with the Android TV design or it's just Philips?

Doesn't Android TV provide some unified experience for TV manufacturers?

I made a thread a while back about my DVR button not being there to record in live channels. Turns out it won't show up if you have their app installed. Deleted silicon's dust app and it showed up and I can record in live channels now.

Hi,

My mibox did a small update yesterday.. and now I can't get Dolby to work. It's used to work fine in Kodi as passthrough, and also in Netflix with Dolby plus (with the odd cut out as per expected).

Now my receiver won't click into Dolby as mibox doesn't send the sound. I checked setting and can't find anything to fix it.

Any one else have this issue ?

Since the latest update I can no longer use my voice to turn on the Shield. I've tried syncing devices in Google Home. Any ideas? I really don't feel like wiping the Shield or my Homes (I have 4).

UPDATE: For some reason saying “Turn on/off the SHIELD” is no longer working for me, but “Turn on/off the TV” does. Which frankly is a welcomed change. In other news I can now say turn the AC up or down instead of specifically saying the name of the individual Nest.

When I try to access my external flashdrive in Total Commander, it gives me that com.android.documentsui is missing.

I have already updated to the latest version and I tried different flashdrives that are all formatted in fat32 and it is still not working.

Anyone know how to do it in settings? I've managed to do it on my Xiaomi mi box but can't work it out on my TCL Tv
