Hi everybody! I finally jumped on the shield train and am enjoying it. I know that Hulu doesn't really support us with the new experience. Mostly sad because I get hbo through Hulu. Is there anyway to sideload the mobile or tablet version onto the shield?

I'm also excited about transferring my Plex server to the shield, but that's another post.

By regular I mean phone versions that doesn't have adjusted interface for Android TV.

How can I use ps3 controller on a TV box that doesn't have Bluetooth? I connected the controller via cable but there's no response at all. The TV box is TX3 mini.

If anyone is setting up their NVIDIA Shield as a Plex Media Server right now, be sure to go into the app settings on the device and roll back any updates. People are having issues where the update prevents the library from scanning video files. If possible, disable automatic updates.

EDIT: Before (or immediately after) rolling your Plex Media Server app update back, you will want to turn auto-updates off. To disable automatic updates, go to the Shield's Google Play Store, to Settings, to Auto-update apps, and disable the automatic updates.

Is there anything I can do so that I don't have to input/reload my EPG link on a daily basis?

After about a day, the TV Program Guide disappears and I have to reload it.

I have a remote Linux server with some of my videos. I very would like to keep them there and not download locally.

I have been running plex server on a remote Linux server and accessing via the plex client on my android tv (nvidia shield tv). This has worked great.

I am now looking to run plex server on my shield as I am trying out its dvr and live tv functionality. While plex client allows you to connect to multiple servers you have to toggle between them.

I am trying to make plex a seemless experience - both dvr and files on remote server.

I was thinking that I could mount the drive using something like sshfs/fuse. However, searching the internet doesn't yield much info for how do this on Android TV.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am currently a Nexus Player owner and have used it for about 3 years now. The device has been showing its age. Crashing apps, stuttering while streaming HD content over the local network and some streams as well. Extremely unreliable remote as well.

I finally pulled the trigger on Prime Day, but bought the ebay - Newegg offer with the controller instead. My device is expected to be delivered today and I am super stoked. I apologize for a pointless post, but I'm just excited to get back home from work and play with my new toy :D

Any tips, tricks or suggestions for a new user? I have a local NAS setup with a raspberry-pi that runs a samba server and Plex server. I plan to continue letting those stay as is. I am really hoping I will not have any more stuttering BR-rip videos off my network and hopefully also get to play some good games. (Not really a hardcore gamer though)

I recently got an sony x900f tv. Now I'm looking for an video player app wihch allows me to delete videos from my external usb hdd. I tried vlc, archos video player and kodi. It seems none of those apps allow deleting files from external devices.

Edit: Can't delete files with x-plore file manager too. Seems to be a problem with the tv. Any advice about this? Maybe the tv blocks altering files on external devices?

I recently installed an Arlo Pro camera system in my home. It's supposed to work with the nvidia shield, which we also have, but I can't figure out what or how? Can any of you point me in the right direction? Will it only work with the google assistant, and not natively with the shield?

Looking to get a TV that will be mounted in our living room. Ideally it'd be good to have an all in one TV as there is a fireplace below where the TV will be.

I currently have a Shield Tv hooked up to our other TV. Is there a mid level TV with Android TV that has say Mibox level or better performance?

Have bad memories of testing an a TV with Android TV built in a few years ago that was terribly slow.

I have the Sony Bravia 900 series with Android TV and I was able to pair my Xbox One Controller to it wireless via Bluetooth. However, the Steam Link only recognizes it as an Android Controller and thus in certain games, the back button only responds as a Steam Big Picture menu button and the Xbox Button brings me back to the Android Home screen. Has anyone figured out how to get the Steam Link app to recognize the controller as an Xbox Controller?

In my UK home I have FireTVs, not perfect, too much amazon push, but workable.

For the FireTV platform (still android) I have iPlayer, ITV hub, 4oD, Demand 5, TVPlayer.. Sure I have to sideload some of these but they are all big screen remote friendly.

Why is it amazon can cultivate these android devs and AndroidTV cant ?? Does amazon splash the cash more ? iPlayer is a really big missing factor for me.

I really think the AndroidTV platform could be superior, its more of a framework, the 'channels' ribbons could be very useful and the channels app as a streaming aggregator could be a game changer for live TV streams. But it does seem its lots more potential and less actually 'now' useful.

I just got prime and I know it only on Shield can somebody mod the apk for MiBox on Android 8.0 please thankyou. I will not share this app unless you want me too.

Fully patched here. Downstream speed suddenly went 10x speed I was getting. Anyone else experienced the same?

Anybody know where I could find (or go looking for) the apk for Stranger Things: The Game for Fire TV? The Fire TV version supports game controllers so I want to try sideloading it on Android TV. I contacted the developers of the game and they told me they do not plan on releasing the version with controller support for anything but the Fire TV. Thanks!

So we recently got a new tv which is a Philips 6000 series. It runs on android 5.0 but the thing is. It doesn't have google play store. It does have a "Philip App Store" which is pure garbage, because I can't download the youtube and netflix app on it. How can I download the youtube app on this tv?

I've had the thing for over a year now and still use it everyday. I mainly use it for Twitch, Kodi, Netflix, and emulating retro games up to Dreamcast.

Is there anything I could be doing with this machine that I'm not? I keep hearing people putting uncompressed .mkv on USB drives and playing them but I don't see the point in that for me since I have a 4k disc player.

just updated the box at Oreo, before update 60fps videos were played at 30fps but in any resolution I wanted, now for videos at 30fps I can select the resolution (up to 1440p, bye bye 4k) while those at 60fps up to 720p and they are reproduced at 720p60. Is it a known problem? some way to force the 30 fps and higher resolution?

My Mibox failed update to oreo after restart, and then I can not update again, it says it's up to date while it's 6.0.1, anyone can help with this issue?
