Anyone love their universal remote? I have a Nvidia Shield, Apple TV, TV and surround sound and would love to ditch 3 of the 4 remotes. Any recommendations?

I updated shield tv to android oreo(shield experience 7) and it also updated youtube app to 2.x version. Earlier 1.x version allowed fast rewind and forward with game controllers trigger buttons. This function was not added in 2.x version.

anyone have alternative youtube app thats allows easier rewind and forward?

Currently I use tunein, but the app doesn't integrate with the oreo channels, and seems to lose track of what's currently playing. Are there any other radio apps for android tv that are better? Tunein won't even let me login so I can't keep my presets across my phone and tv.

It appears that the Mibox isn't responding to the remote after you had it off for a few hours. Before the update. I was able to turn it on by pressing the power on the remote. Now it doesn't respond unless I unplug the power and plug it back on to restart the device.

Is this happening with anyone else's Mibox?

Playing movies on the google play movies doesn't add to watch next row when watching movies. Only movies that have been recently added to my library will add to play next. I am not able to start watching any movie and have it add to play next to resume later.

I got the Oreo update on one of my Mi Boxes about a week and a half ago. The other one has not gotten it. When I do a check for updates, it says that it is up to date. Is there any way to force it?

So my Mibox became very unstable with the Oreo Update, and i'm thinking about getting a Shield for a while now, because it has Primevideo support and faster Kodi/UI. With Primeday tomorrow, it is the perfect time to buy one.

Now i wanted to know if the Nvidia Update is better, or if it has the same Problems.

So I've had the mibox pretty much since day 1 of the US launch and it has always been working beautifully for everything I need.

Unfortunately, my dog chewed off the back end of the remote rendering it incapable of holding AAA batteries. I soldered in a 3v lithium button cell and all was well for months until it just stopped working completely.

All this was while on AndroidTV 6.

After a few weeks of using my phone to control it I contacted Xiaomi support via email and obtained a replacement remote.

In the meantime my mibox updated to AndroidTV 8.

Seems no matter what I try, short of a factory reset, I can not get the mibox the see this new remote. My phone sees a 'Misc' bluetooth device when the batteries are installed, and that disappears when the batteries are removed, so the remote is doing something.

The new settings menu does not show any devices paired for me to unpair/re-pair.

I would really not like to factory reset the device if at all possible.

Is there a service I can clear data on or something like that to get this going again? Any other advice?

Long story short, I finally cut the cable bill in half, now I watch shows on like the freeform app and MTV, etc. Is there a way to block in app video ads? My fiancè gets annoying everytime an ad plays. I have a Mi Box.

Essentially as the title says , every time I try to cast to my mi box using Netflix, Stan , Animelab or Crunchyroll, it just opens up the app and becomes non-responsive. The only app it actually casts with is YouTube, this issue literally started over night as it was working fine yesterday.

I want to be able to at least cast as all the apps have audio issues, audio is slightly quicker than video and Netflix keeps giving me errors on most of the titles after showing 3-5 seconds of the stream.

I'm still on 6.0.1 as I only bought it recently and missed the 8.0 OTA.

Does anyone know any solutions or current system issues/errors.

Hi. I have 4k HDR movies that are about 60GB a piece. Anyone here manage to stream movies like that? What speed do you get over USB/Ethernet?

My problem is that both my Android TV and Mi box aren't capable of handling so much data, so I'm looking for a solution. I bought the Shield today. While that didn't break a sweat on the network side of things, it has its own shortcomings that IMO doesn't make it the all in one solution I'm after. I need my HDR..:)

Edit: About the Shield. It doesn't seem to have a function to automatically change over between HDR and SDR. Or am I missing something here? It doesn't support HDR on Youtube(VP9.2)?

I'm watching a movie off my WD My Passport right now with Kodi. That was my number one issue with the Oreo update since I'm not subscribe to any streaming service.

I recently got an Nvidia Shield and hooked it up with ethernet after a day or so on WiFi. When I plug it in it breaks my desktop computer's internet, but the WiFi still works. I've tried reseting the desktop's IP configs and everything, but the only solution seems to be to remove the Shield from the network.

Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I have a Mi-Box with ethernet adapter, and I watch 4K HDR movies (those 16-20 GB files, 10Bit) through a network share and it works great.

(Example: A.Quiet.Place.2018.2160p.UHD.BluRay.X265-IAMABLE)

Yesterday I watched a movie, and in a specific scene, the video started to stutter, the audio was out of sync or even stopped completely. (only the audio stopped)

After that scene, the movie will work fine. There would be some stutters later or before, but very minor, and it will just buffer for 2 seconds and it will be fixed.

The problem was in that specific scene. Like 4 straight minutes.

That is the movie:

And the scene was SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER - in "the shining" scene, right when H openes the elavator door and the blood comes out.

Using the latest Mi-Box update, latest stable Kodi.

I've tried to switch the audio from 7.1 to AC3 5.1

The movie works fine on my computer for that matter.

Hey guys. Until recently I had moved over to a Roku. The TV I bought a little over a year ago had it built in and it was just dead simple. Yesterday I bought a new Vizio with HDR. Unfortunately the smart cast system I kind of garbage so im now looking for a new media box. What are my options for a box that will do 4k and HDR or Dolby?

So I got the Oreo update on my MiBox - and there were a few bugs here and there so i decided to try a factory reset and start afresh. The only problem now is that on the start-up sign-in process, after the final step ('Help Improve Android Performance' dialog) the screen goes blank, and stays stuck like this. The only thing I can do is press back, which lets me start the sign-in process again, leading to the same result. Any ideas?
