Some people have said that it is possible, but nobody in that thread said they themselves did it.
I have a brand new Mi Box, and just plugged it into the TV. After logging in and getting to the homescreen, when I went to the settings screen at the bottom there was a plus next to my first account's Gmail address. However, whenever I pressed it, it would say something like "Vudu has stopped" and then when I hit okay, it would take me to a blank grey screen.
I then went into apps and uninstalled Vudu and all the other pre-installed apps, thinking they might be interfering with the process, and when going back out, the plus next to my account disappeared. There is no longer an option to add additional accounts at all.
I installed a system update, but that didn't help. My version is now 6.0.1, with build "once-user 6.0.1 MOB31Z 1901".
My next step was factory resetting the box to start from scratch again. Incredibly, the plus is still not present now.
Any ideas or experiences?
I just got an email from Slickdeals that said the Shield will be $139 for Amazon Prime Day. I think this is cheaper than Black Friday. https://slickdeals.net/f/11799691-amazon-prime-nvidia-shield-tv-with-remote-will-be-139-prime-day?sdxt01=2018-07-12+21%3A02%3A06&sdxt07=0&utm_source=dealalerts&utm_medium=em-i&utm_term=43340&utm_content=4410362&utm_campaign=tu4&p=117530959&src=da_si_v2_ni_47889915#post117530959
What's currently the best option to use TVHeadend with Android TV?
My experience so far (Mi Box and Shield TV):
Kodi on Android TV seems to work most reliable. including EPG, logo's, PVR and timeshifting. Unfortunately there's an issue which makes it cumbersome to browse channels (which is supposed to be fixed in Kodi 18). And most importantly, it doesn't integrate with the Android TV "experience", e.g. Live Channels. Switching between Kodi and Android TV just takes ages.
The TVHeadend Android TV App integrates with Live Channels just fine. EPG takes some time to update after starting, but seems to work okay after that. Unfortunately there's no (functional) PVR and timeshifting support. More over it is unusable because the actual streaming only works sporadically. This seems to be worse since the Oreo update. Disabling EPG-sync seems to solve it, but that's not really an option for every day usage of course. Based on the github activity there's currently no indication that this will be solved in the very near future.
