I have a Sony XBR850D, I am trying to expand storage on it by using USB drive. I initially chose it as an external drive when formatting. I thought I will use it as backups for Kodi and maybe other stuff. But I am not able to copy anything to that drive because I do not have write permissions. How can I gain that? I tried to go in Kodi and select it as a backup site, but even kodi can not write to it.

I don't know if it has been asked before, but like the title says. If I go to play.google.com and select "apps", I wish to search for only AndroidTV apps, not phone apps. Any help?

After upgrading to the new YouTube app, 4K videos only play at 1440p. With the old version they played at 2160p. The PS4 YouTube app plays 4K videos at 4K, does any one else have this issue? I went back to 1.3 as there is no practical difference. And the difference between 2160 and 1440 is noticeable. I have a Sony XE9305.

So I bought a hdhomerun prime to use along with my nvidia shield box and im loving it so far the interface is so simple and easy to use and clean compared to setup boxes... so i'm looking to replace setup boxes in my house with android tv boxes but I sadly dont have enough money to buy a shield tv for each tv, so what are the good alternatives to the shield tv?

I just got a Mi Box, and I want to install some third parts app on it. I can't find a browser anywhere, and ES File Explorer doesn't have a browser to download from...don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Hi! I'm having an issue with my TV that is driving me crazy, and I can't find anyone else who posted about this.

When I watch 60 fps YouTube videos on my Sony Bravia X700D it drops some frames, the videos stutter quite a lot... I tried factory restoring it and it didn't change nothing.

Is anyone else experiencing the same with their tv? Is this a general problem with the YouTube app on Android TV? Is my TV not powerful enought? (It's weird because 4k HDR 60fps works perfect when I play something from an USB stick)

I have this android box but I can't seem to find clear instructions to update the android OS. I'd like to update from kitkat but I'm afraid I'll brick the box.

Hey guys, just one question because I'm trying to rule out what the problem is. Should my TV be able to handle 4k HDR x265? I'm using vlc and there is no stuttering like it was before kodi had the option, where no sound comes thru and it's all stuttering. This is more like something haven't enough time to send/processing the data.

I'm connected to a windows 10 server with smb and a cat6 network cable.

If the TV should be able to process my file, what's the other things I should check so I can start ruling stuff out?

I have a Sony Bravia and I had an Nvidia Shield for a little while, I liked the remote of the Shield more. Does anyone know if the Shield remote or controller works on a Sony Bravia Android TV? Or maybe know another good remote 🙂

I have the Plex app running on a Mi Box with Android 6.

I cannot work out why, but some videos will be played back at several times the correct speed. Maybe 4x or 8x faster? The sound keeps running at the correct speed though.

Many other videos play back fine, though.

I can't see anything odd about the videos that trigger the issue -- they include x264 and hevc files, at 720p and 1080p resolutions. All were 23.98hz (film framerate).

I have many other files which match those same parameters though, which play back fine.

The "bad" videos play back fine in Plex on Windows, and they also play back fine in Kodi on Android TV.

I tried re-encoding one of the videos, with ffmpeg, converting it from x264 to hevc in the process, but the problem persisted.

It's almost like there's metadata on the file saying it needs to play back at a very wrong high framerate except that everything I read on the metadata says 23.98 as expected.

I don't suppose anyone else has seen this problem, or even better, has found a fix?

I'm running Kodi 17.3 on an Mi box, with Android 6.

If I have audio passthrough enabled, I get 5.1 surround sound hitting my AV receiver, over HDMI. However the audio gradually drifts out of sync. (Suspect because 23.98 hz video doesn't match up to 60 hz display, even with 3:2 pulldown*)

If I turn audio passthrough to off, then Kodi only sends stereo audio out the HDMI to the receiver. Even though I have the speaker configuration in Kodi set to 5.1, and audio output mode set to "best match".

Am I doing something wrong? Can I fix this?

The Plex app seems OK about sending multi-channel audio over HDMI and it stays in sync.

Footnote:

• Yes, I know, I should be matching the refresh rates, but I have a Hisense 65M7000 TV which runs at a fixed 60 hz at 1080p. You can send it 24hz signals, but it does internal 3:2 conversion to 60hz anyway. 2160p has a genuine 24hz mode, but then you're relying on the little android tv box to do the upscaling, which can struggle at times.

OK so I think I'm OK with the technical requirements here - my only question: where is a reliable place to download the .apk file? (I really don't want to get a virus and expose my passwords, etc.)

I have this weird bug I get, where when I tell my LG WebOS TV to power off devices, the box will crash about 30% of the time on power off.

Crashing, as in I can't even reboot it with the remote, no lights on the unit, the app doesn't work either, but it's still on wifi... Forcing an unexpected reboot always makes 'er chooch again.

Anyone else seeing this?

I bought a Mi Box specially to see Youtube TV. Since the Youtube TV app is not compatible with Android TV, I have to cast it. Well, it should be cast compatible. It is, but sometimes it just doesn't show up in the list of castable devices.

Right now I am trying to cast Netflix, Regular Youtube and Youtube TV but none of them can see the MiBox. However all apps can see a Chromecast in my daughter's bedroom.

This is very frustrating!

Any ideas on how to solve this?

• Does it need to be formated to be used as external storage by Android?
• Or I should just plug it to the Mi Box?
• Is there any Android torrent app that allows me to download directly to the pendrive?

Just want to confirm if anyone has received a July 2017 update with description security patch with size of 493MB or 443MB? I click on the restart button too fast and I couldn't remember the actual size. My Mi Box is on the Feb Nougat beta version / none root. I wonder if accidentally received a push-down for Marshmallow or another Nougat beta? Can someone confirm?

I'd like to cast my desktop while I'm gaming so that I can play from my PC on my Sony Atv (43XD80). So far I tried:

1)HDMI cable from PC to TV: works good but I'm looking for something more practical without using a cable everytime. 2)Casting desktop using Chromecast: it works but when launching the game the image on TV is strangely pixelated and the colors are a little bleached (however when on desktop image looks fine)

I just bought a brand new 2017 shield off Amazon. Whenever I start the app through the home screen, It stays stuck on the loading screen with the loading icon continuously spinning. About 5-10 seconds in the message that it logged me in through google smartlock appears in the bottom, then fades away. But it still stays stuck on the same screen. I don't even get any kind of error, it just keeps spinning the circle loading icon forever.

Things I've tried:

• Deleting the App data + cache
• Restarting
• Unplugging the system and waiting a minute
• Uninstalling updates and updating
• Deleting my netflix information from Google smartlock so it tries to open without logging in
• Leaving it loading for 30+ minutes
• A full system restore
• All of the above multiple times and in different orders

I'm just about at a loss about what to do without having to root it, forcibly uninstall the netflix app, and reinstall from the store. But I'd rather keep it stock and there must be some way to run netflix normally.
