With a few small exceptions, almost every video we try to play on netflix through our ShieldTV is skipping with no sound. This seems to only be a problem playing through the ShieldTV (maybe AndroidTV, no other devices to test). Only a very few shows still work. Futurama seems to be okay.

I have tried restarting the app, restarting the box, and even cleared data for the netflix app. Nothing has worked. Anyone else experienced or fixed this?

Update: Also happening with Amazon Prime for Some people.

UPDATE: Solved!!!! Go to your android tv settings. "Display & Sound" > "Advanced Settings" > "Surround Sound". Change it to "Auto".

So I have a LeEco Super4 X55 which has AndroidTv. However, I don't think Xfinity Stream works on it (haven't unpacked the TV yet). I have access to the Xfinity login info so I can stream on my desktop via Xfinity's Stream TV.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how I can stream Xfinity's stuff on my TV without having my own subscription. Is the only way to do this to use an HDMI cable from a PC? I'm not interested in Amazon Fire because they don't have HDR yet on the stick and it seems like Shield doesn't have Xfinity yet. Should I just wait until there's a better solution?

I've just received my Nvidia Shield TV, everything is up and running, the apps and games have all been downloaded.

2 things that bother me.

Can I change the default launcher? Can I increase the number of rows for apps, instead of scrolling to the end right, how about having more rows.

New to the shield, which is recommended and what are the differences? Also can you install builds on SPMC?

I'd love to know what others have installed, maybe I'll learn about some cool apps.

Just swapped out my HDHomeRun Connect for a Extend but now the Network Tuner source for DVR function is missing in Live Channels settings. Any clue on how to get it back? HDHR source on Live Channels works beautifully and I receive all the channels in my area.  

When I go to connect HDHomeRun Connect back to my network, the Shield detects it and immediately asks to set it up as Network Tuner. When I unplug it, it says Network Tuner disconnected and doesn't recognize the Extend as an option.
 

Here's what I've done:  

* factory reset
* updated firmware of HDHR Extend
* re-scanned for channels several times after update
* uninstalled and re-installed update to Live Channels
* empty cache and turned on all permissions for LC  

To clarify, I'm missing the DVR function that comes with the new updated Live Channels. I'm at a loss as to why it works fine with Connect, but doesn't recognize Extend.

Any Suggestions? On a Nvidia Shield 2017.

I have Android TV 6.0.1 on my TCL TV. Youtube app version: 1.3.11. When watching live streams, quality is always set to 240p, even if I change it to 1080p. Do you have similar problem? My internet connection is fine, I can watch 4k videos or full hd streams on twitch.

As a workaround I'm using KODI with Youtube add-on, stream quality is good.

On the new shield TV remote I've tried using the voice search and it's god awful. Trying to say simple stuff like "House of cards" doesn't work.

I've tried at least 20 times and it hasn't once detected what I'm saying correctly. Sometimes it will pick up the first word and then just wait. Other times it just picks up a garbled mess.

The controller is a different story though, it seems to work just fine and the accuracy is great. I don't know what's the deal with the remote.

I inherited this box. Is there a way to tell who made it or distributed it? It has firmware dated November 2016 and wondering if there is anything newer like marshmallow. It is on 5.1 lollipop. Thanks.

I saw in some tutorials that you can go to settings and then about on the Android TV to change the name of the TV. But there I can't change it as the tutorial suggests.

I have a 2017 Nvidia TV hardwired to my Ethernet. I have a 4K Vizio A PC hardwired and a GTX 960.

I have tried Gamestream, moonlight and the steam app.

The controller (but Nvidia controller gen 1 and 2) work to navigate Android TV and steam but once in a game it's a hot mess.

Ex. When running NBA2K16 the controller either lags so it is unplayable or skips inputs. Ot has 3-7 sec lag when pressing a button. Also if I want to go to the next menu item it goes two down instead of one.

Ex 2. Call of Duty BO2 when I get to the menu to start, the directional don't show on screen. I hear it move but I don't see anything to start the game.

Ex 3. Darksiders 2, works expect if I press select to equip me character when I resume the game the directionals don't work.

How can I add different language layouts. I know there is external keyboard helper apk, but it doesn't working well in kodi and in some other apk. Is there any way to get to android input settings in Mibox? Why they blocked android settings?

My wife is annoyed that there isn't a YouTube Kids channel on Roku. My son is obsessed with YouTube but sometimes inappropriate videos pop up and it makes my wife crazy. Is there a streaming device that has the ability to install YouTube Kids? If it's an Android box will the box eventually become obsolete as newer versions of Android are released and the apps are no longer supported?

I was looking to get a Box to run Kodi/Plex, and saw the Mi Box was recommended here.

So, right to the point, from your experience what bluetooth keyboard do you use/recommend to use with nvidia shield 2017?

I'm assuming that this is must be a brand new feature of the Live Channels app because I haven't seen any other reports involving this new Time Shifting feature yet. If my specific setup makes any difference, the Live Channels app is installed on my Nexus Player, which gets its cable TV signal from an HDHomeRun Prime. I didn't have much time this past evening to test out this new time shifting feature yet, but it's a nice, welcomed addition, that's for sure.

I hooked the Shield up tonight and still getting use to it. I haven't had a Android phone or device in years but what's up with the Google Play store? It seems like the Shield doesn't have that many apps compared to say the Play Store on an Android phone? Or I'm missing some menu?

Also, does GeForce Now require a PC or do you simply pay a monthly subscription and play the games right on your Shield with the controller? I'm confused with all the Nvidia game options. If I can simply stream games without having a beast computer that's awesome.

Is there any way to remotely schedule a recording if I'm not physically in front of my TV to do it through Android TV?

Currently my MiBox is on Wifi and PC on ethernet, I'm thinking of running a wire so I can get my MiBox on Ethernet, but the only reason I'd want that super fast connection is for game streaming, I get a little bit of lag over Wifi, its noticable but its playable, just wondering if direct ethernet will make it better/worth it?

Has anyone managed to open DVDs, CDs or possibly Blu-Rays on Android TV? When I plugged an external DVD reader in, it did recognize that something's plugged in, but that's it.

I'm not sure if this is doable, and maybe I miss understand Android TV, but there it goes. I'm using a regular cable tv box (Bell, here in Canada). I'd like to buy a Google Home and have things displayed on my tv (schedule, weather, etc.) but that means pluging a Chromecast and switching HDMI input.

Is it possible, via an Android TV, to just watch my regular tv while still getting "overlays" off info coming from Google Home ?
