Hey guys,

Today I received me very first tv box, it is called Scishion V88 Plus and I got it on gearbest. I tried to set it up and came across a few things:

1)Many applications on the playstore aren't available for some reason with the box, even though it's on 6.0.1. I tried to side-load them but they can't be updated through playstore even though I read that some users managed to get them to update through it. 2)Some applications mess up the screen size (from fullscreen it goes to something like portrait mode) and it won't go back unless I reboot. I'd like to add here that when I power it off, the memory doesn't get cleared. It doesn't go through booting, but puts me on the last screen. 3)On Kodi I can't get anything to work (I am a newbie about Kodi as well). I tried to add my local channels and even though I followed the guide exactly, nothing is there. I tried to add Exodus and it gives me a network error when trying to add the source, even though I am connected. 4)The resolution doesn't seem to be FHD, as it claims to be on the settings. 5)When I click on a google image it doesn't fully load it, it stays pixelated forever and if I try to save it through the site, it downloads the link of the site (????????) instead.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction - trying to find a tv with built in Android TV/Casting etc. that's 32 inches or less (ideally less) - to go in a kitchen.

Have a big Bravia in another room already, and was hoping to just get another to maintain consistency, but Sony only seem to make large screen android tvs as far as I can see.

Found 'Cello' who seem to produce smaller android tvs, but not sure if they're decent or not....or if they'll integrate into my casting world okay! Any other brands etc. people would recommend (not mucking about with a box etc. as it needs to be integrated for ease of use/space considerations)...

I've read that the play store sucks for Android TV. What are the upside to going with "TV"?

I currently have a Sony TV and I use the built-in kodi app to stream all my media from my NAS. The interface is lag-free, and everything plays fine. Is it pointless for me to drop £180 on a Shield TV box?

Pretty much the title. Everywhere that I've looked up has people​ saying it's possible with root, but none explain how. Is it a simple Titanium Backup restore?

I am typically not a game player but would like to play backgammon online with someone else in the world.

Can this be done with a mi box? or do I need the shield for such a thing?

It's a 4K TV rocking Android TV. Has built in Chromecast/Google Cast. Does that built-in Google Cast support 4K streaming or would one need to seperately buy the Chromecast Ultra?

the title says it all really. Im messing with a mibox 3 and the normal play store version doesnt work with controllers and the shield​ version ive extracted looks to need something more than the apks as it says its not compatible when im installing.

I have tried puppet master but dont get on with it , and the kodi version looks basic though is very whilst functional (and will do at a push)

I recently got a MiBox because my Nexus Player has experienced frequent crashes, unable to display video at times, and sometimes the display vanishes for a few seconds.

On the Mibox I bc have noticed frequent stuttering in all video from 1080 up. This occurs in YouTube, live channels, and Netflix. This is also a problem when using Moonlight.

I've messed around with a few settings and factory reset the device but it is still there. I even upgraded my router f from n to ac.

Does anyone have any clue what's the problem? Is this a widespread issue or can it be fixed by exchanging the device?

Hoping some of you with a bit more knowledge on these devices than myself can chime in. I've owned a Nexus Player for about 2ish years now and it has been pretty reliable until recently. The included remote broke (100% my fault, slipped in between the couch and snapped), and the remote app is just horribly unreliable in fact it will no longer connect.

I'm also experiencing issues where the entire device just freezes while playing a show on Plex or watching something on Kodi. The only way to fix it is to unplug and restart the device. Super annoying, but it's had a good run...

I'm in Canada, so my selection of devices is very limited. I was thinking of purchasing the Xiaomi Mi Box 3 which seems to have pretty good reviews though while searching for a similar topic on this subreddit, I'm seeing a lot of various issues with it (netflix freezing, sleep mode problems, etc) which is casting some doubt on my plans

Just want to get some opinions on this, is it a worthy upgrade? Ideally, I would love to get the Nvidia Shield but the cost is a bit much (not sure I can convince the wife, or myself tbh).

When I turn off my display and turn it back on, Android's Display settings report that Deep Color mode is disabled. I can verify that because my display no longer reports BT.2020 signal. Is this a bug?

Do we have AndroidTV-oriented offline games we can play using the remote? I'm looking for some games my niece can play with the box.

EDIT1: oh wow apparently the box can handle ePSXe. might buy a Mi Gamepad for this.

Are there any good alternative onscreen keyboards for Android TV? I'm especially interested in one with voice input.

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out how to access the volume amplification on the shield with kodi 17. I have it installed on my phone and i know during the video you can just click the gear icon on the bottom right corner of the screen to adjust it, but on the shield, i cant get the gear icon to come up, when i click any direction on the D pad, it just fast forward or rewinds the movie, and when i click any other key it does nothing.

I am trying to download a movie to my Nexus Player so I can watch it offline, but I don't see an option on the tv like there is on the phone. Is it impossible on the TV?

I trust that my TV can perform upscaling more efficiently than Android TV can. If I watch a 1080p video, my TV still reports a 4k signal coming in. Does the OS let apps change HDMI output resolution on the fly?

What remote does everyone use with an Nvidia Shield? Right now I have a logitech harmony with a hub, but it's not the easiest thing to use for guests. There's no "netflix" button, if you launched PS Vue the "guide" button doesn't actually open the guide, etc. There's no way to create custom in-app activities, as far as I know. I'd like something simpler. I want to be able to launch apps from the remote instead of closing out of whatever I'm on and then scrolling to the next app. Does something like this exist?

Or any other internal LAN speedtests? I'm having trouble streaming 4k from Plex on larger files. I know I have a bottleneck in my powerline adapters but I can easily measure what the bottleneck is. I haven't found a way to measure the connection to the TV itself.

Any ideas?

The TV is a Sony Bravia KD-49X7000D connected via WiFi.

My apologies if this has already been posted. I recently picked up my 3rd shield. The first 2 were 2015 models. I quickly figured out the 2017 remote has an IR blaster that is compatible with my Sonos playbar and Samsung TV that doesn't support CEC volume. I now want to buy at least 2 more of the 2017 model remotes. Does anybody know where i can find the newer version (without headphone jack or rechargeable batteries).

Getting mixed reviews and want to confirm before I pick one up.
