Anyone have all their devices connected to their TV and not their receiver?

This seems like the only option if I want to make sure Chromcast is always available without having to change inputs on my receiver. If I dont change inputs on my receiver I wont get audio from my TV/Chromcast

Since earlier today, any Youtube video I try to play on my Mi Box fails to ever play. It just shows the loading circle forever. Does anyone else have this issue?

I tried rebooting, clearing app data, uninstalling Youtube updates and re-installing the update, etc.

Disable Philips Android TV Collection feed, also known as Philips Apps at top of Android TV launcher & recommendations field

Guys! To disable Philips Collections bar or also known as Philips Apps Tray at top of Android TV leanback launcher. All you have to do is find leanbackcustomizer in System Apps or Running Apps and turn off its notifications which can be turned off at button of the menu when you click on the service.

I couldn't find a single source which mentioned these steps to take to disable Philips bloatware. I figured these out on own. I am not aware of any other methods that has the same results.

Enjoy your less of a pain Android TV by Philips

Also To disable recommendations, disable org.droidtv.nett_launcherapp in system apps or running apps. Hope this also helps debloat your Philips Android TV to a manageable level. However, this doesn't get rid of the recommendations field only apps that shows up.

Dear Xiaomi (MiBox)

Are you still updating? There have been several bugs reported and the answer has been "fixed in next update". Well, it's been months now and no fix. I'm starting to regret purchasing this item, even though I love it, because it looks like you may abandon it already.

I really hope someone from Xiaomi will see this and give some sort of update.

Youtube app crashes on Shield

I've reset my Shield back to factory defaults, re logged in and the app still hangs and eventually says either "check your connection" or outright crashes. I know the network is fine, I can play videos from vudu, cast youtube videos from my phone and download from the play store. I've run out of ideas on whats going on. I've tried uninstalling updates, installing them, logging out + back in again.

Apps keep reordering on Shield TV

As the title says, my apps keep randomly reordering on my Shield.

Sometimes they will stay in order for a day or two, but eventually the will reorder which is driving me nuts.

Has anyone seen this issue before? I'd like to get it corrected if possible!

Thanks!

Looking for WWE Netwokr apk for Android TV

I'd like to sideload the WWE network apk on my FireTV or MiBox. The FireTV only has the U.S. version which doesn't allow me to enter my cable provider credentials.

I was able to sideload the phone version of the app but it doesn't scale on the FireTV.

Apparently they released one for Google Nexus Player & NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV.

I'm hoping if someone outside of the U.S., hopefully in Canada looks for this app in the play store they'll be able to download it.

is hdhomerun beta getting worse?

i was enjoying the beta with no problems but i think 3 updates ago, something changed and i expected the next update to fix it but none of the updates since have fixed it. it displays like there is a bad signal but only on my mibox (artifacts/glitching/skipping). homerun software and signal works flawlessly on my computer still.

i'd roll it back but apkmirror's last one is from july. which i guess is better than nothing. anyone else experiencing a reduction in quality lately?

Mi Box: Netflix skipping frames

I know many people are having issues with Netflix on the Xiaomi Mi Box, most of them having something to do with titles failing after a short amount of playback time.

In my case, it's a more subtle problem. Every so often the video will skip some 6 to 8 frames, while audio will stream without any issues.

Anyone else notice this?

Network audio output

I'm getting a projector and a Shield TV. I also have a 5.1 surround setup, and would like to route all audio from Shield to that setup.

Problem is, it's a rental flat and the projector is ceiling-mounted in place of a chandelier, so all I have is power and ethernet over powerline. Even if I could get the audio wiring over there, the projector has only stereo output anyway. Just to be clear, Shield is sitting on top of the projector, with a network cable in and an HDMI cable out.

Now, I have a PC on the floor in the same room (the one which I'll be streaming games from sometimes), and I can attach the surround system to it, but:

  1. How do I make a playback device accessible through local network in Windows? Is there some sort of standard for this? DLNA?
  2. Is it even possible to connect Android TV to any sort of networked audio setup?

Has anybody done anything like this? Or do you have any relevant info? I've seen AllStream / AirAudio, but I'm not sure if they support surround (seen only a vague hint at 7.1 support on some random pirate website). Maybe there's some WiFi USB DAC I could attach to Shield instead? Or maybe I could pair the PC with Shield over Bluetooth (also can't verify if 5.1 can be played over modern BT...)? It also seems that I can play audio locally when streaming from PC with Moonlight, but I'd like to have all audio on Shield go to my PC.

Any help is much appreciated.

Xiaomi Mi Box software support question.

How well has the Mi box been supported with software updates? I know it has only been a short while, but have there been software updates fixing bugs or adding features? Is there a version history I can read for the Mi Box?

Edit: Thanks for the responses guys! Looks like I'll be holding off on the Mi Box.
