I am the current main developper and maintainer Nova Video Player an open source video player for Android. It consists in a fork of the original Archos Video Player Community Edition that is hosted here: https://github.com/nova-video-player/aos-AVP supporting Android O and P and beyond as well as including new features.
The main motivation of this post is to make the Android TV community aware of this effort and also highlight the recent work carried out with a small team on their spare time to improve the TV UI experience relying on a simple full leanback interface https://www.reddit.com/r/NovaVideoPlayer/comments/azqow3/new_beta_release_of_nova_video_player_v33/
You can check the latest beta of the application and find more details on the r/NovaVideoPlayer subreddit.
My Mi Box does not wake up from sleep if left untouched for a few hours. I've contacted Xiaomi support and was told they plan to release a fix in the next month.
In the meantime, I've tried to downgrade to a previous safe version using these instructions, but after the last step of performing a factory reset and re-configuring, it just forcefully upgrades to the latest build.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Edited: the problem seems to be resolved with build 2550. thanks for all the suggestions.
Hi Sub,
I'm looking to make the transition to an Android TV. I currently have Chromecast/ built-in devices connected to all the TVs in the house.
The reason i'm looking to transition is to eliminate the need to cast content. It was a nice idea at first but started to get a little cumbersome with guests and when we just wanted to grab the remote and launch an app/ show.
So far I've been reading into the Xiaomi Mi Box S. I have been seeing mixed reviews but it's the only fairly priced device I saw ($49 at Walmart.com)
Does anyone know if any other devices are coming out in the near future?
I've looked into the Nvidia Shield but I can't justify the price to swap out all the TVs in the house. I'm not sure on the other brands I've seen, Xiaomi is the only one that stuck out to me.
I did also look at Roku as an alternative since it does play nice with the Google ecosystem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
