Hey, im thinking of buying a android TV, either a philips or a Sony. but I have read alot of comments on the reddit and av forums where people complain about their tvs crashing all the time. is Android stable on TVs? How often does a app crash? Can a TV crash just like on normal, when you are just watching it? all info would help. Thank you for your time

I have a mibox 3 and everytime I turn it on, all of the apps behave as if there's no internet connection. None of them load properly. However, the device itself says it's connected to the internet. I can resolve this issue by rebooting it.

Has anyone encountered this problem? I really wish I didn't have to reboot it everytime.

Once every week or two, my Shield will wake up with no sound. I have to restart it to have sound restored. Anyone experiencing anything similar or know any fixes?

Hi everyone, I recently bought a mecool m8s pro w without voice remote and after configuring a bit i rebooted the system and now it's bootlooped. Wouldn't be a big deal for me, I know how to perform a factory reset from recovery but i couldn't find any reset button on the box (I looked online and i saw people saying that the button were either behind the grid on the pcb or on the lower side of the pcb but after i disassembled it i found nothing). Gearbest support suggested to keep the MENU button pressed and turn on the box but didn't tell me where to find this button, I assumed they were talking about the button below the arrows on the left but it didn't work. Do you have any experience that could help me?

Is there another app that can install apps like es explorer's "android tv" option? I ask this because when i try to open apk files through a file manager i get the "sorry, no application available " message. And i dont want to use es because personally i hate it and dont want it either on my tv and/or phone.

So, there's any app that can use the smartphone keyboard to write on a MiBox.

There's a Google App for that, but didn't work with me. There's any alternative? I don't wanna buy a dongle and use a mouse and keyboard....

I need you help if anyone has encountered this problem. I have a Mibox running the latest nougat beta. I tried to get Google Assistant working on it by manually installing the latest Google apk. This caused a lot of problems including voice search being extremely slow and unusable. Also YouTube doesn't work anymore as it stutters and freezes as soon as I open it. I uninstalled all updates for both Google and YouTube but the problem remained on both apps. Is there any fix other than factory reset?

Tried a Google search first, can't get any recent results.

So I signed out of all my Google devices because of something triggering 2 factor authentication. So now I'm trying to sign back into my Nexus player, and it's telling me to enter my account email and password by using the android remote app.

Ok so I open the remote app butbthe keyboard input doesn't work. So wtf! How am I supposed to input text ? I've tried turning off my phone and rebooting the Nexus player. Still no good.

Update: Issue was cured with a factory reset.

App version is 1.5. If you have sideloaded the previous versions, it's the same, but you can navigate it with the remote, you don't need the controller or a mouse anymore

hey guys, quick question about android tv. was thinking of getting NVidia shield for my grandparents to watch ethnic tv because ROKU is shit and constantly deletes the app for it. If i install the app for ethnic tv on a NVidia shield/minix neo u9 will it get deleted as well with updates? Or can we safely watch what we want to watch without having to constantly reinstall it? What is the ease of use of the device? Is it easy to teach 80 y.o. to use it? I plan on having one/two apps on it so they have an easier time finding ethnic TV app.

Also, if i wanted to use terrarium for it, does it work effectively on a large screen TV? I tried streaming terrarium from my phone via DLNR onto my TV and it was a terrible experience.

Using the official Android TV Remote Control phone app and an Nvidia Shield TV 2017, how can I change the volume on the TV with my phone screen off while just using the volume buttons on the side of the phone?

I can control the TV volume with the phone screen on by just using the side volume buttons on my phone, but when the phone screen is off it switches back to controlling the phone volume. It is just slightly annoying having to turn on my phone screen first every time I'd like to change the volume on the TV.

So with the new SteamLink app for Android on the horizon I see a way to have a dream all in one set top box. Android TV with on demand apps, Steam Link app for gaming and Kodi for everything else. However, the only barrier to this perfect set up is finding a set top box that supports Xbox 360 wireless controllers (I have the dongle) and ideally a wireleess keyboard and mouse. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Is there a way I can use my TCL Roku smart TV remote control on Mi Box? Instead of using two different buttons it will save me batteries and make life a little easier.
