(Current Nexus Player + SonyTV + Shield TV Owner)

Bought into the SlingTV concept running on my Nexus Player (+SonyTV and later the Shield) and while it allowed me to "cut the cord" and keep the significant other HGTV'd, Bachelor/Bachelorette'd and it was clear from the start SlingTV itself had a long hill to climb to replace the simplicity, ease-of-use and reliability of a traditional Coax Cable STB. Meanwhile the AndroidTV experience - not the platform itself - still requires way too much investment of time & energy to the point it's hard to recommend beyond the techie crowd. Simply put, Live Channels is barren in functionality, the home screen is a complete mess and the lack of 3rd party enthusiasm from HBO, Netflix & Amazon to integrate into a seamless experience forces you to hop from one little in-app walled garden to the next.

Enter YouTube TV, by far and away the best experience I've had an OTT Live+DVR TV solution (SlingTV, HuluTV, WatchESPN, HDHomeRun). The UI is slick, well designed and +fast+; the viewing experience is light years better than anything I've else I've used...Which got me to wondering instead of a Pixel player, I could see a real opportunity for Google in the market w/ a YouTubeTV HDMI stick running AndroidTV. Even more so if they could strong arm HBO, NetFlix and the like to finally play nice w/content mgmt.

Have been using smart YouTube tv. It's ok but the interface is pretty bad and I have trouble discovering new content with it or simply playing a genre of music.

Does anyone have alternative suggestions?

I'm planning to buy android tv in the future, but I'm wondering how good is wifi in this tv's. Is it on mobile level or worse/better?

Also, I'm connected to the internet through my neighbour with usb wireless stick. And since It's difficult to get signal on mobile from neighbour, I created mobile hotspot on my pc. And I get 8-15mbps on mobile. Is this the speed I could expect on android tv?

So I finally got my Mi Box because I've heard good things about it, all reviews seems to praise it, people have recommended it as a great kodi box, and I want to set one up for my mom but lo and behold after a couple of minutes of use it goes green/purple aka completely unusable. I've tried changing the frequency from 60hz to 50hz, turning off the advanced color option, changing settings on my TV but after changing everything I still keep getting this problem. I can't believe they haven't updated the box to support this option? So now the only thing left is to return the box?

How does something like this even happen I mean it's even promoted by Google as a quality android TV device but unfortunately for me it's now unusable except for really short periods of time.

Im really disappointed in this purchase I wish people mentioned this in reviews or something, there isn't even much info on the internet about it and the few threads there are about this problems, none has ever solved it, so it seems.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a device in the similar price and performance range?

I have the official Android TV remote and SideView and both are great but neither does everything. The Android remote is simple (in the good way) but doesn’t offer functions for the TV, mainly power on/off and volume. SideView does it all but lacks one necessary thing; mic access for using voice. I end up going back and forth between the two so I’ve been trying to search for additional choices.

I got my Mi Box, my first Android TV box just 2 days ago. Here are my problems:

• Unable to play 1080p mkv file via USB Hard Drive smoothly. Video stutter and audio out of sync all the time (95% of the time, especially when there are lots of changes in frame / movements). Tried using Kodi, VLC, and MX Player. Also tried factory reset, wipe data, update to latest system, multiple settings both in display, developer option, and in-app settings.

• Casting 720p or 1080p mkv files also has both video and audio stutter via Chrome Casting. Tried using VLC, Chrome and a Chrome Extension. My WiFi is 10m away and has 300Mbps max bandwidth.

Are there anyone who got this problem as well? It seems ridiculous that a product advertised to be able to handle 4K got these problems. Or am I getting a defect product?

Edit: Casting using VLC seems to have better quality than playing directly from the back USB port. Is the USB port defect? Even 2.0 USB should have 480 Mbps bandwidth and should be sufficient to play 1080p.

Edit2: Found out that the stutter problem came when playing video with FLAC audio.

I used to have a WD tv live hub and that had the white and red cables for audio and hdmi or yellow cable to the TV.

The Mibox has no rca cables, so how can I listen to music with it? Any suggestions?

Anyone buy a mibox 4 or 4c? wondering how to install a pure Android TV OS on it... not a huge fan of the XIAOMI software on it, mostly because it's in Chinese and I have no clue what half of it says.

Thinking to buy a new TV and I noticed Sony has models with Android TV built in. Anyone have any opinions about the Sonys (or other brands) with Android TV? How would it compare to a Mi Box?

I will be traveling a lot and will not have internet in most destinations but will have TVs with hdmi ports. My goal is to have an android TV connected to a 512gb flashdrive with every episode of my favorite TV shows. I want to autoplay my tv show episodes on a shuffle mode so i get the experience of tv-like quality where i can watch mutiple random episodes of tv shows and fall asleep to it. Does anyone have experience with such a setup or have any reccomendations?

Does Auto video quality works for you right now?

If i open a channel in the app, all i have is a black screen, i can see the chat, but no video or audio. If i manually change the quality, set it to exp: source, everything is fine.

Yesterday two things happened:

• i updated my tv to Nougat

• SSL renew issue.

So i'm not sure if SSL renew is affecting Auto quality, or it's the Nougat update.

Both desktop and mobile app works on my network. Even the mobile app on TV works. Also Kodi's Twitch addon works as well.
