Can I downgrade from build 1035 to build 1028 without deleting all my apps? It will be a pain in the ass side-loading everything again and re-installing Kodi.

Not sure if anybody else has this (and I’m sorry if it’s irrelevant to anybody except myself) but I just don’t want people to waste their whole Saturday afternoon on this, like I did.

The Sony X900E 4K Android TV that I picked up on Black Friday wouldn’t play 4K or HDR on Netflix for some reason, or even shows in the “Ultra 4K HD” category would only say “HD” when you clicked on the individual menus for each show. Weird, especially when I remember the glorious 4K HDR when I first got it, and that Netflix says I’m getting a 70Mbps+ download speed, faster than my Xbox One S that plays 4K like a charm (but I refuse to use it because of those godawful previews).

Called Netflix and spent an hour of “did you try turning it back on and off again?” and “it’s Sony’s fault” before hanging up and spent another hour of troubleshooting on my own.

Turns out all you need to do is go to Play Store, search for the Netflix app and uninstall all updates, and Bob’s your uncle. Yes, backwards, I know, but until Netflix releases a fix, it’s the only temporary solution.

TL;DR If you have an Android 4K TV that won’t stream Netflix in 4K, then go to Play Store and uninstall all updates for the Netflix app until they release a fix.

I just bought my first Android TV. Actually it's a real TV, manufactured by Philips. It's easy to play movies from my dropbox account, works like a charm! Awesome.

However, I do not know how to play movies from my local network. I have a router with file storage (Apple Time Capsule), DLNA does not supported. Could you help me?

edit: There is a way to play movies from USB storage. I haven't tried it yet, but it's an alternative thing to solve this one.

Is there any way to put to sleep the TV (Sony XE9005 55" with built-in Android TV, to be precise) with an app without setting the timer? It is really easy to wake it up with casting. Although when I already lie in my bed it is quite fuss to get up and look for a physical remote just to turn of the TV.

I'm still amazed and disappointed at the apparent apathy to fixing the issue in any sort of hurry. It made me unable to play my saved music collection for over a month via my receiver.

Nonetheless, yesterday's update finally partially fixed the issue.

The same errors for tracks not being available are still appearing when trying to play most of what's in Recently Played. It's possibly a hangover of corrupted stuff from the previous update and I imagine any new items added to the recent list after the update won't have the problem. Anything I'm playing via albums or artists views is playing ok again.

If you're still having issues outside of this problem it may be worth toggling syncing of your Google Music account in Google settings. This has fixed some problems in the past with tracks not playing after an update.

It appears that after over a month, the developers have only fixed some of the issue. Albeit, the main way I play music (picking an album) has been fixed and I can get any track to play if I select Album view and try and play a whole album or an individiaul song. Custom playlists appear to play too.

Recently added/played still does not work. An album that appeared in it since updating still claims it can't find the track(s). Also, if I select an album or song via Artist view I get a lot of errors that the track can't be played. As well as this, Artist view is showing every album released by the Artist, not what I have in my own collection. I guess it's accidentally showing a subscription view.

Is there anybody internally working on this software at this stage? I don't understand how the last two updates could get past qc. Five or six weeks to only partially address bugs that rendered the entire software unusable for most who aren't on a subscription. I'm assuming that the dev team either doesn't use the product or is automatically entitled to subscriptions, meaning they never see the product from the pov of somebody who doesn't subscribe. Design 101 is to test and retest your product, utility, service or communication from every angle. I thought Google was a tough gig to land a development job with but I don't know if that still holds true if software like this is a reflection of who's developing and who's ok'ing it for release.

So casting from my pc to my tv worked for the first week, but today, for some reason, i just cant find my tv under devices available from my pc.

Silly question at first, however, several people who use these Android boxes have asked me to update them. I have experience with Kodi and such, but I'm being told that shows/movies aren't playing and that the Android box needs to be updated.

One friend has a Leelbox, the other has a Mygica.

Basically, which level needs the update? Android, Kodi, The plugin itself or all of the above?

Sorry for little details as I don't have the boxes and or experience with them.

what's my best bet for a bare bones android box that can read a decently sized USB expansion and can smoothly operate VLC?

Just bought a Google home and Chromecast for my smart projector, currently using a third party launcher but it doesn't allow me to switch to HDMI 1 or 2 without going back to the bloated default launcher.

Do you guys have recommendation for a third party launcher that allows you to select your input source? Thanks!

I'm just wondering if it's normal that I need to reboot the Mi Box after leaving it on for a few hours of doing nothing. It's almost like it's running some background processes that only initiate after being dormant for a while but I can't seem to find anything running.

Any ideas would be appreciated and should you need any more information then please just ask.

I recently purchased a Android TV and after a few days every time I power up it reboots.

Is there a know cause for this? Is it app related? I'm seriously considering returning it.

So I've found certain slow motion scenes cause this to happen. After the slow motion pay it is like only half of the frames are displayed. Once I stop the video and start it again everything is fine. It happens on local streaming and through streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube.

I can even rewind the show and reproduce the issue at the same spot. So I tried the same spots of the same shows using my Xbox and the issue doesn't happen. So I don't think it is an issue with the TV itself.

I have tried a factory data reset and the issue still happens. Any ideas?

EDIT: Found out it was some settings in my TV causing the issue.

I haven't recieved the update for Google Assistant on my Sony TV - (X8200E 2017).

When will it come? Should try sideloading the latest versions of goggle app. Will it be risky?

I already have a shield, and it is 100% the best device I have ever owned. I got it mostly for Plex, and the options to pause/record OTA TV.

My bedroom TV is a dumb TV, and it currently uses FireTV, but 90% of the time I watch Youtube before i go to sleep, I have a chromecast, but that is not sadisfying... I just want something with a remote.

What are some of the other AndroidTV options out there?

And they managed to make it even slower. It lags scrolling through rows and is frustratingly laggy!

Laste Week I Bought a MI box. I was only reading good stuff about the device, so I Jumped in. First, Netflix doesn,t work. The infamous tvq pm 100 5.2.5 comes to play. I've read a lot about it, and I'm not really sure if it's a TV problem, a Netflix Problem or a MI BOx problem. There is no solution, that's all I know. Casting Netflix is also impossible, or HBO. None of the two platforms seem to recognize the mi box as a Chromecast Device. And so, two of the main purposes I Bought the box are gone. I have to say that everything else works fine. Kodi, DS Video, Casting Spotify (I know there is an official app, just was testing the chromecast issues). This isn't a post critiquing the Mi Box, I think is a very good device. I´m just feeling silly, thas all
