I just got a new shield, and updated it to the latest software. I am using Private Internet Access. I have tried their native app, and Open VPN for Android. They both have settings that supposedly allow you to launch it on boot, but it's not working through either app. Any suggestions?

Edit: : I figured out the problem. I was using adoptable storage, and had to move my apps back to the internal storage, and now it works fine.

I want to justify my purchase (kinda) since I already own a Smart TV (Samsung UK6000 50’) so Netflix and YouTube are not that appealing to me, but Kodi, Plex and PopCorn Time are (forgive me if this is forbidden or a grey area here)

Emulators seems handy too, but the limited space available for such gadget makes all harder to me.

Can I use a PS3 controller with it? Any hub recommendation? Space options?

Throw all your advises that improve your experience, and give me hype in my wait, I mean, I know there are better gadgets to accomplish these kind of stuff, but I also now there are worst gadgets.

A few days ago our cable company had an outage, so no internet.

I have a Chromecast and thought I could use it to just stream from my home server. No dice. That's lame,, and it seems there's no work around for it.

So started looking for alternatives. So far, the mi box looks like the best match for my needs. While reviews indicate casting is spotty, I've yet to see anything about how it handles casting without an internet connection.

I'm aware there's other options to stream to it from a home server, but a combination of curiosity and plain stubbornness needs an answer regardless of what I end up doing.

So, has anyone here tried it at all? If so, does it function? If not, is there anyone willing to try it just for poo and giggles?

I've always been using ES File Manager to conveniently transfer files (mostly apks for sideloading) between my android device and PC. Now when Dropbox is no longer working I have to look at other alternatives.

I'm trying out Amaze which has a pretty clean look. The app doesn't seem intended for ATV, but it's easy to navigate if you have a USB mouse.

Any other suggestions? Preferably remote friendly.

I'm planning on buying 2 gamepads so my nieces can play multiplayer games on my Mi Box. I'm not even sure if there are multi-gamepad games to play with on Android TV.

Question #1: is this possible?

Question #2: any better recommendations aside from Xiaomi's own gamepad (costs around 20$ where I'm from)

Any issues with the Mi Box 3?

I've always used my Google Home to control my Chromecast. I would say things like Hey Google, Play Stranger Things on Netflix... and it would do it. Now it can't now it says Sorry, I can't play Netflix on Android TV devices yet. Which is fine, I can accept that.

However, if something is playing, I used to be able to say Hey Google, Pause My TV or Hey Google, next episode. Now with an Android TV (Shield) I can't do those simple control functions anymore. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm looking for a remote that can:

• Control my Nvidia shield
• Turn on and off my IR devices (TV, Soundbar, etc...)
• Doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard
• Does have a mic to do content searches

I can't seem to get Assistant to work with Google Play Music. I'd like to know if anyone else is having issues.

For instance, if I say "Ok google, radiohead", I get youtube results for Radiohead. If I say "Ok google, play radiohead", it plays a radiohead youtube result. If I say "ok google, play radiohead using google play music", it fails.

What am I doing wrong?

I have kodi17 on my Nexus player. I tried plugging a FAT32 formatted USB drive (not a HDD). On being prompted I let the device format the drive as a storage device. If I go to the stage option it even shows me the 8GB drive. If I use ES FILE Explorer as well I can access the drive. However in Kodi on the device I’m unable to find the drive. I was hoping to use it as additional storage to let some add ons write to it and if possible also files on to it to play locally. The latter is not a necessity.

Can anyone please help me out with what I’m doing wrong?

Is anyone able to get 5.1 audio from Netflix working on their Mi box? I do not see any option for 5.1 audio in Netflix titles so could that be the case? I just purchased the mi box and the only way for me to get 5.1 audio is if I use Kodi with passthrough enabled. My mi box is connected directly to my home theatre with the home theatre connected to my TV.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for recommendations. Currently use MiBox and love it, just wondering there's something quicker and a little more stable?

I do NOT play games, so I don't need the Shield.
I would like to stay under $100.

Also, I already have firestick, so no doubt fire tv is an interest either.

Ok so, I'm looking at either getting :

• MINIX neo u9-h or
• Nvidia Shield Android TV (SATV)

I know that with SATV you're stuck with the official AndroidTV firmware (as far as I know).

Problem is, I do quite like the AndroidTV UI, but also very much like the broad application of full Android.

--with the MINIX boxes (u9-h), does anyone know if it's possible to dual-boot that system? --or... Is there any fully decent replica of the official AndroidTV in the form of a launcher (which I can run from the standard Android box)? (that is to say, lets you use voice search, has recommendations etc etc)

Can i watch m3u list and dvbt2 tv or cable tv on the same row? Or i must have a different software to watch this? Because, i have a cable tv, and i watch to pair with this, and add m3u to have more channels. Can i seeting this to open channels automaticaly when i open box?

The really weird thing is that it's been working fine routed through a Pioneer receiver for about 4-5 months, and only stopped having any sound a few days ago. Factory reset doesn't do anything. Connecting the HDMI directly from the Mi Box to the TV seemed to solve this problem, however I'd much rather get the nice sound I can get through my surround system.

(Every other device connected through the receiver works perfectly, and the sound problems on the Mi Box appear to be universal; no apps were producing any sound.)

Any idea what could be causing this issue to appear out of nowhere?
