Has anyone tried to flash Android Oreo on the MiBox?

Its an ok device but there a few improvements to oreo which i've seen making it work much faster on a general OS level especially when it comes to video rendering. Wondering if someone has been brave enough to try and flash their mibox

Android TV 6 – Live Channels app - forgets selections

Does anyone else have a problem whereby your pre selected channels are wiped when the underlying app is updated?

Eg I use Pluto TV and Zattoo TV and they both have been optimised to use Live Channels. In the Live Channels app you can select which of their channels you wish to see in the Live Chanel's TV guide.

But it seems that when the Zattoo or Pluto apps are updated all the pre selected channels in Live Channels app are de-selected.

Anyone have a work around?

PS: using a MiBox

Nexus Player Uploading 400GB in 30 days?!

Hello everyone,

I am at a loss right now. My network was going to slow today and decided to check whats currently using my bandwidth. I noticed my Nexus Player is uploading at 6mb/s which I found odd, but then after changing to the past month its uploaded 400GBs. Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on with it and what its uploading? I have a fresh install of Android Oreo, and before that I had the beta.

Please I have no idea where to look and never saw anything about this.

Ethernet sharing??

I know this a very specific idea, but is there any possibility of say a Shield TV sending it's network over to another device through it's ethernet jack? I've had no success so far just plugging things around :)

Does Logitech Harmony remotes respond fast?

My Nvidia shield controller just died out of the blue and I need to buy a replacement. Logitechs Harmony remotes seem perfect since I can use them to control the TV and lights too. I'm just wondering if they work with WiFi/Bluetooth and respond fast without a delay.

I have the 1st Gen shield but maybe that doesn't matter.

Any other recommendations are welcome as long as I can get one in Sweden

Editor: UPDATE! I SWITCHED THE HDMI CABLES AND HDMI-CECC STSRTED WORKING!!! It's pretty shit but at least I can use the shield.

I'll either buy a rii i7 or i25 to just control the shield and save 100$.. poor student is poor

Has the Mi Box improved?

I had a Mi box for a week or so back when it was first released and ended up going with a Shield instead because of the bugs that the Mi box suffered from. But now I find myself needing another streaming box for another TV for Plex/YouTube/Netflix and am wondering if the Mi box has received any updates that have improved it's performance?

Is it correct that I can't pass audio to my Chromecast Audio connected speakers?

If so, that's really sad.

Owning Chromecast connected speakers, a Google Home and the ShieldTV, barely anything works together..

4K HEVC playback in Kodi

I got a Mi Box a few days ago. So far, it's been great.

However, I'm having trouble playing one of my files that's a 4K HEVC encode.

The video lives on my Plex server, which is hard wired to my modem. I'm playing from my Mi Box, which is connected via WiFi and running Kodi with KodiPlexConnect.

There's a few possible problems I narrowed it down to, but I wanted to see if anyone else had issues playing HEVC 4K video on TT Mi Box too.

As for the problems:

  • everything is (temporarily) hooked up to a modem/router that uses the Wireless N standard. No 5GHz.

  • the Mi Box is connected via 802.11N wifi, because my router doesn't do AC.

I'm fairly new to 4K, and just learned about HEVC and .265 formats recently so I'm not sure if it's a bandwidth issue because of my router or if the box just simply can't handle the file.

Would hardwiring the mi Box fix the problem? Or would just upgrading the modem to an AC compatible one work?

Edit: for the record, my 4K H.264 content works without issue, it's just the HEVC stuff that gives me a "source too slow" problem. It's all direct play.

Setting up home cinema system with projector and MiBox

I've been setting up a home cinema set but I'm starting to get pretty confused. I've bought a projector that's in the back of my room and the mibox is on a shelf right below it, connected via HDMI cable. Now i've bought a SAMSUNG HT-J5500 home cinema set and was planning to place it in the front of my room and get a 8M RCA (to connect to my homecinema set) to 3.5mm jack (in my mibox), but is this the most optimal setup? Should I maybe place my mibox in the front too and get a long HDMI cable? Or will a RCA to 3.5MM even work for 5.1 surround sound?

I've read quite a lot about home cinema shit but I can't seem to figure this out and I'm kinda stuck on it, would love some suggestions :)
