How do I load Amazon Prime Video on MiBox?

The only topic I saw had an expired link and was from over a year ago. I turned in my cable box today, came home and setup my Mibox. I bought Sling TV Blue, setup my Plex server, downloaded Kodi and now was looking for Amazon Prime Video.

Anyone able to help.

General hints for a noob Android TV user would be nice too. (Honestly unsure what to do with Kodi)

Thanks in advance!

Harmony Hub/Mi Box/Kodi

So Im tired of being limited to only the Android buttons in Kodi on the Mi Box.

My assumption is i should be able to add two devices to my activty to make this work: 1-Xiaomi Mi Box (IR Control, android controls) 2-Windows PC (Bluetooth, acts as keyboard)

So my question is this: Do I just map the normal keys like Space for Play and X for stop, or do I use the Harmony Kodi device instead of Windows PC, or do I need a custom keymap in Kodi? I was able to pair the hub as a Harmony Keyboard in the Mi Box successfully so far, but havent been able to assign buttons to the remote as the Harmony app is being a jerk right now and not working.

What are the latest problems with MiBox & optimal configuration settings.

Hi all, I am currently using a Shield for my primary device in my living room. In the past i considered getting a mibox but did not as I read about various problems with it such as and of 4k in youtube / netflix framrate issue and some other problems with HDR.

However I am now considering a secondary mibox for my bedroom. I will just need the box to be able to:

  1. Play 4K/60 for both youtube and netflix, preferably with HDR.
  2. Be able to use the plugin to enable my iptv service to be integrated with Live Channels.
  3. Able to direct play 15-20mbps h.264/265 1080P videos from my NAS via Plex.

My configuration for said setup would be:

  1. Playing on a 2016 Samsung KS7500 TV w/ HDCP 2.2
  2. Connected gigabit connection via Wifi AC.
  3. Probably will format a 128gb USB as adoptable storage.

With said set up and expectations, what problems might i occur if intend to go with the MiBox MDZ-16-AB? Also, would it be advisable to run the latest MM software or the latest beta Nougat software if i do get the MiBox?

Help much appreciated. Thank you all.

//UPDATE! 9th Sept 2017//

So i went ahead and purchased a MiBox and there are several hits and misses. Received my MiBox and went on to update it to the latest June MM FW.

Hits:

  1. Plays Youtube 4k and Netflix 4k somewhat well. There will be a little stutter in the first few seconds but it will smooth out as the video gets buffered sufficiently.
  2. Runs my 1080p H.265 15MBps movie files off my Plex server smoothly with no sync issues thankfully. Quite a bit of stuttering with 4k content but I was not holding out on it to do so anyway.
  3. Interface is snappy, but not as smooth as my Shield. Hopefully the Nougat update fixes this.

Misses:

  1. HAS A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH 5GHZ WIFI. I have a AC router and the damn MiBox refuses to connect, saying that I have put in the wrong password even though I am 100% sure i put in the correct one. Out of every 10 tries, I will successfully connect once but it will disconnect 5 minutes later. I am pissed as I need to connect to the much slower 2.4ghz band.
  2. USB Ethernet is really killing me. Since i can't connect to my preferred wifi network and it keeps disconnecting, I decided to go to the hardwired route. It connects fine and with my USB 3.0 Ugreen usb ethernet adapter I get around 220/180Mbps connection, limited by USB2.0. I have a gigabit connection. HOWEVER, whenever i turn my MiBox off, the ethernet connection disconnects and I have to manually disconnect the cable and insert it again to connect ethernet. As such I have since run my MiBox 24/7 which I can't imagine to be good for its health.

If anyone has any tips to circumvent or solve my problems do let me know.

Xfinity Starz workaround no longer works

https://www.reddit.com/r/Roku/comments/5o1g93/any_workaround_for_the_starz_appxfinity_issue_yet/

I was using this workaround for the Android TV app on my Shield. Yesterday the Starz app was updated and I can no longer log-in using this method using my Xfinity account.

Has anyone figured out how to get it to work?

Netflix preventing sleep when idle

Has anyone else Noticed the Netflix App on Android TV prevents their device from auto off/sleeping? Specifically, when Idle (ie: not playing an episode).

So for example I have auto-play next episode turned off specifically because I tend to watch Netflix in bed. With other devices (Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One etc) providing a video isn't playing the Netflix App doesn't prevent the device from auto-sleeping when the app is idle. So if no activity after a while the device just goes to sleep (and turns the TV off via CEC)

However since moving to Android TV it just spends all night keeping the TV on with its silly screensaver adverts for Netflix shows.

My setup: Nvidia Shield TV with idle 1 hour timeout for sleep mode.

If so, does anyone know anyway to get around it or fix it?

Yesterday's YouTube update added 'brand' accounts and a few other things.

I don't see any posts about this, and people still seem to think they are missing. The update notes weren't changed, for some reason, but they did add brand accounts. In addition:

  • You can now click on embedded video links. (IE: the links to other episodes at the end of a video.)

  • For Oreo, they added a second channel. It has a shit icon and is also just called 'YouTube', but... it's there?

EDIT
I seems that maybe
2.01.04 isn't out for everyone? But it does have brand accounts. Android O on a NP.

Looking for a Google Home compatible device that also has built in apps

Hi All,

I currently use a Roku and it has been doing fine. What I would like is a device that I can add to my Google Home and have it cast over Youtube videos I tell it to....or to play a show on Netflix. But I also need the device to have its own apps installed so that nobody needs a phone or computer to watch netflix (like the Chromecast).

I literally uninstall YouTube updates every day..

I created this last post where most of us ranted about how bad the new YouTube update for Android TV is as you can not use your original YouTube accounts and they force you to use your actual Google account. This is a problem as we can't access all of our subscriptions, playlists, likes, recommendations, channels, and more.

They could at least offer a migration path or just allow us to use "brand" accounts. It has been 30 days now since release and EVERY SINGLE DAY I have to uninstall this terrible update to access my stuff.

WHEN WILL THEY DO SOMETHING!?

All I can say to do is continue to comment on this announcement thread here and continue to submitting feedback within the App on Android TV.

This is such a pain...

Im open to other file managers if i can manage over wifi like I can with Xplore, but Im not going to use the cancer that is ES File Manager.

Voice search broken on Shield TV

I have the 2015 16Gb Shield TV. A few months ago voice search stopped working, it just always says "I'm sorry I didn't catch that". I didn't notice whether it coincided with a Sheild update or not. The weird thing is it is broken everywhere (Android phone remote app, controller, remote, and even a USB microphone). I factory reset and that didn't help either. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening to me?

H96 pro mini superuser

So today I discovered that my h96 pro mini came rooted. So I installed superuser to make sure that my box was safe and nothing happened without my permission. Anyway I went in updated restarted and now I'm stuck at the h96 pro screen. I tracked down the firmware from the site I bought the dongle off of, as well as the utility needed to reset everything back to factory via sd card or usb. Anyway my question is, how do I go about installing superuser and updating the binary so my dongle stays safe? Thanks in advance!
