My recently purchased SHIELD TV v2 seems to work well in general but I am having problems with the stick remote. Quite often presses on the buttons will do nothing for a while and then start working again. The microphone seems very poor as well with the voice recognition being very spotty, far worse than I am used to with my Nexus 6p phone.

The Android phone remote and big controller work fine.

I have not seen any low battery warnings, but am not discounting this.

Any ideas?

I just got a Harmony Hub and I added a Windows bluetooth keyboard as a device to my Shield activity. I'm trying to figure out some of the Android TV keyboard commands, because they aren't listed anywhere.

Anyone know some of them? A particularly useful one is the "guide" command, which will bring up the Live Channels guide from anywhere.

I just realized the difference in a legit tv box and the crooked ass stuff on Amazon and eBay that is horrible to try and make work. I'm sick of using them.

Been looking at MI box but 130+tax is a lot at this moment. Just curious what are my options in Canada for Android tv box. Is that my cheapest bet? I would prefer less then a, 150 after tax.

If that's the cheapest bet then I guess I'll wait. But willing to hear any options. Thanks.

So I recently acquired an Nvidia Shield TV v2 and I must say that i have been impressed so far. Even on crappy Australian ADSL the streaming through Netflix and YouTube is excellent.

Anyway, I got a free trial of Amazon Video and signed into the App. Watching the Man in the High Castle and the video is streaming nicely at 1080p but audio seems to be Stereo only. There appear to be no settings for audio pass through in the app. Netflix and Kodi pass out surround without any problems.

Any idea on how to solve this? I did a search but there is very little.

Go to APK mirror via whatever browser (or sideload it however you want) and install the APK.

You get HUGE black bars on the side (looks like a phone forced into portrait) and need to use the A button and joystick to imitate swiping lol.

BUT if you turn on a show, then use the joystick/mouse to click on full screen, it plays the video full screen (maxed at 720p from what I have found). It is OBVIOUSLY not an AndroidTV APK, so this behavior is expected.

I personally am going to keep casting from my phone/tablet but just figured I'd throw it out there.

I have a new Xiaomi Mi Box, when it resumes from standby/sleep mode the wifi connection displays as connected but it won't send/receive traffic. The apps and OS cannot access the network. The only thing that resolves it is going to system->about->restart, after reboot it works fine again. This is happening almost every time it resumes from standby/off mode.

Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

Walmart has it for $69. I could avoid sales tax buying elsewhere, but not sure how to know if what's being sold is the real thing with Android TV, or some knockoff android box.

Hi everybody. I need to connect the Shield to Ethernet since my wifi isn't fast enough. The problem is that I can't get the ethernet to stay working. I need to place it in a very specific position to get it to work at all and if I touch it or any of the cables at all it will disconnect. The cable is "locked" into the port, hearing that click as I push it in.

Should I just take this one back for a new one or is this an issue with them all?

With a lot of help, I was able to get additional IR commands for the Mi Box. A while ago I contacted Logitech and give them the commands and just today they finally added them.

There are unknown commands, however there are 4 commands that might be of interest. It appears that commands line up with keystokes Page Up and Page Down, as well as - and +.

The Page Up and Down are useful for "channel surfing" in Playstation Vue and the - and + can change volume in Kodi/SPMC.

If anyone can figure out what the unknown commands are, please share! I named them for Logitech and I had to guess based on how it corresponds with different apps.

To get the commands, just re-add Xiaomi MDZ-16-AB (Thats the Walmart/International version, however it appears Xiaomi uses the same IR codes across their devices).

My MiBox changes it's resolution to a vertically squeezed image occasionally. When I go to settings and check the resolution, it shows 720p. It gets corrected when I change to 4k2k again. This is happening at least once a day.

Is anyone else facing this issue?

Has anyone come across this? There is nothing in the activity settings that could be causing this. The Shield is connected over bluetooth.

I have a problem where on many occasions (though not consistent), the Mi Box just doesn't turn on.

TV is on, input is correct, but there is no signal. Tried mashing the Mi Box remote power button many times. Tried holding it. Tried holding the back and circle buttons together. Nothing happens. I have to unplug and reconnect the power cable to the box.

As far as I can tell, my TV doesn't support proper CEC (or at least it doesn't see Mi Box as an available device). The Mi Box is turned off using Harmony Hub

Any suggestions?

Seems like a common problem. So how about using a smart outlet controlled by Harmony or Google Home? How bad is physical power cycling for this box?

As the title describes, I'm getting what can be described as a loud popping or snapping during YouTube playback on my Mi Box. Only happens on YouTube, and just started recently. Popping sounds like someone's disconnecting an audio cable...much louder than the playback audio.

I have the Mi Box hooked to my TV via HDMI, then hooked to my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 via 3.5mm jack into a mixer. I've tried hooking directly into the Klipsch system, and even headphones...still happens.

I've been messing around with settings for a few weeks now, but nothing has helped. I might still be inside my return policy...but I'm scared to exchange this one as this one was an exchange due to a Netflix issue.

Any/all help/advice is greatly appreciated!

I've found a device that is running both Windows 10 and Android 5.1. The idea of two systems is very appealing to me. Windows 10 would be great to play some games and using office and Android for everything else. The problem is that there is no use for basic Android OS without Leanback Launcher and Android TV apps. So is there a way to sideload Leanback Launcher and TV apps to basic Android? Has anyone tried it?

Hey. So I get around the Android file adding issues by using FTP to move video files from my PC to the external drives on my shield. I've noticed that the files are fine for a few days and then randomly show up as 0 bytes within filezilla and on the ES file manager. Sometimes it fixes itself, but restarting is no guarantee, and other times I need to retransfer the files. The only thing that is certain is that it only happens to files added within the last couple of weeks. All my older files on the drives have no issues whatsoever.

If I move the drive to my PC then the files are available without any problems so I'm not inclined to think its a problem with the drive itself. Has anyone encountered this? found a fix? etc or is it just another weird shield bug to learn to live with?

Edit: From my comment below. 'I've found that if I manually select the 0 bytes files in X-plore they seem to wake up again and return to full file size and function'. Right now this solution is working for me every time.

I've got an android TV box and the remote that came with it was very poor.

I went on amazon and bought the highly rated MX3 controller. It works great but it is so cheap and horrible feeling. The plastic creeks, the button clicks on the back keyboard don't always register and the click of a button just doesn't feel high quality.

Are there any air mouse/keyboard controllers that feel as tight and high quality as the apple TV remote?
