Control Mapper And Keyboard IME for Android TV (XDA link)

Hi guys. I have spent a long time looking for a good way to re-map remote control keys on Android TV without losing on-screen keyboard functionality, and now that I've found it, I thought I should share with everybody else. It hasn't been updated for a couple of years, but it still seems to work well with my Shield on the latest software. It has helped me enable voice dictation using my third-party remote control, and also helped me emulate keys from the Fire TV remote for sideloaded Fire apps. It can also program shortcut keys to quick launch apps. Enjoy!

Wondering which Apps or tech is being used on these TV Boxes...

Hi

I'm from Argentina and have noticed the arising (in sales, popularity) of some Android boxes that allows buyers to ditch cable services, DirecTV, etc.

I couldn't get my hands on one, because I've already a NVidia Shield, but heard that it has Android and when boots it gets the channel list updated, etc.

Which Apps do these boxes use? Could I do something similar with my NVidia Shield? The software seems to be in Portuguese

Mi Box Oreo Kodi 1080p lag

I cannot watch 1080p videos after updating my mibox to oreo. Any one else have this problem? I even tried using an ethernet cable and its still happening.

How can I get BBC iplayer on my New Zealand shield? APK seems to be an update, not full program

Hi all,

I have NordVPN installed and working on my shield, I have location services turned off and set locale to English (United Kingdom). However I don't see BBC iPlayer in the App store.

Whenever I try APK's from APKMirror they seem to be updates to iPlayer, not the full program itself so it can't install.

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I'm specifically looking for the AndroidTV version.

Google home mini suddenly can't stream to mibox

Got a google home mini recently and have been using to ask it to play Netflix shows on TV. Now when I ask it says alright playing x and then says sorry I can't play Netflix content on Android TV yet, but it's streamed Netflix content before no problem. Any help?

Ambient Mode doesnt work on my Android TV, but does on chromecast.

Changing ambient mode to showcase a slideshow from Google photos doesn't reflect on my Sony Android TV.

While on my Chromecast (another display) it works perfectly.

What's wrong?

Planning on importing Mi Box S to India. Have a few queries

I plan on getting the mi box s. It fits my budget and I find Xiaomi more trustable than Jetstream.

Was wondering if the box which is bought in America, functions perfectly overseas.

Also, does Netflix come pre installed? As several Android TVs by Xiaomi can't seem to download Netflix from the playstore in India neither can it be sideloaded. I plan to sidelaod Amazon prime video which seems to be possible.

Mibox 4 and Steam Controller

Has anyone gotten the Steam controller to pair via Bluetooth to the Mi box? I've updated the firmware on my steam controller so it supports Bluetooth le and the controller will pair with my phone, but when trying to connect it to the Mi box after a few seconds the mi box says "cannot pair", exits pairing mode, and the controller shuts off too.

If anyone has had any luck, are there any special tricks to it? Rebooting the mi box did not help.

[Help] Changing channels with voice, Live Channels app with TVIrl.

I am trying to get my Live Channels app to switch channels using my voice only. However when I say

"Tune to..."
"Switch to..."
"Change Channel to..."

it doesn't work and gives me results from other apps.

"No results found on Live Channels. Showing results from other apps", this message comes up with youtube search results.

Mibox3 mdz-16-ab, no video output

I own 3 of these, one has no video output all of a sudden and doesnt respond to controller. Light on front illuminates at power on but does nothing else.

Any options here? I held ok and back at power on but that also did nothing I think it's done.

PSA: Mibox 3 with last update (2369?) just crapped the bed.... again.

Gave Xiaomi the benefit of the doubt with the latest push of Oreo build 2369(?). I got about 2 or so weeks out of it this time. Yesterday it froze and boot looped at the Mi splash screen. Just a PSA for those of you with the Mibox 3. Not bothering with returns or factory resetting this go around. Just marking Xiaomi as a do not buy brand.

Got a new TV, MiBox wake up lag is gone.

Got a new TV for black friday, upgraded from an 8 year old 42" 1080p TV to a new 55" 4K model.

Since then the wake up lag (mibox being literally unusable until reboot) is gone.

Just this morning the mibox had been idle for 12 hours. Turned it on, no lag. Works great, without needing to reboot.

Ridiculous levels of input lag

Just got a (yes relatively cheap) 4k TV on Black Friday, this one, and the picture looks good enough, but when I plug anything into it with HDMI (games, computer, etv), I get ridiculous levels of input lag, somewhere between 200 and 300ms. I know some input lag is normal, but that is just ridiculous. I literally get less input lag from my Elgato HD60s capture card. Using the remote in actual AndroidTV mode is actually really snappy surprisingly, seeing most smart TV remotes these days usually have obscene input lag themselves, so I am wondering if anyone has some tips for fixing this issue?

Shield TV No HDR in Google Play Movies?

I just picked up a Shield TV to replace my Apple TV 4K, since I'm always frustrated by not being able to watch things in Google Play Movies (where we often rent movies and have a decent library). On the Shield, movies say they are 4K and HDR, but playback is only happening in 4K/SDR. I've checked the settings and it is set to use rec.2020. Anyone know what I'm missing?

Just got an nVidia Shield 16gb. I seem to be missing what fuss is about.

So I just picked up a Shield TV (really good deal as it came with a controller and £10 steam credit for less than £150) and I’m not impressed so far am I missing something?

Prime video and Netflix both crash every 15-20 mins while watching video

The UI also seems a lot laggier than my ancient Roku 3 also.

What is so good about it?

I factory reset it and most things seem better aside from Amazon burying 4k content.

I’m particularly impressed with the VLC playback. It handles my Blu-ray rips with no fuss what so ever.

Looks like it was a CEC handshake issue as I turned that off and it works fine.
