A friend has a projector setup and we set the Mi Box audio out a small bluetooth receiver that outputs sound to an amplifier/speaker setup via a analog 3.5mm jack. It connected easily, but sound volume is VERY low.

We also connected a Fire TV Stick to the bluetooth receiver and volume much much louder, what I would call normal usable volume.

Any thoughts on how to fix the Mi Box bluetooth volume? Thanks.

On YouTube and Twitch apps my TV has started consistently dropping frames (looks like videos are 10fps as opposed to 30 or 60) when videos are set to "auto". It starts to happen after a video has been playing for a little while. It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth issue because choosing the highest bitrate, say 1080p60, they will play fine.

Any idea what might be going on? I've only seen it happen in those two apps, not Hulu or Amazon, but then I don't use them as much. Any guesses are much appreciated!

I had brought a Mibox 3 a month ago and after going through this sub and seeing people complain about how Oreo ruined their boxes i decided against making the jump from Marshmallow to Oreo. Albeit, the update had already downloaded itself in the background, i refrained from clicking the restart button but yesterday the box decided that it had enough of the BS and forcibly updated to Oreo. I was nervous about what the update would do to my box but fortunately, i am yet to encounter a single bug. In fact, the problems i had on Marshmallow seems to have gone. I am pretty happy with the new interface and now i wish i had not waited this long to update it. Also, i made a factory reset after the update.

I have a Sony HT RT3 soundbar hooked to my TCL 4K Android TV via HDMI ARC. The TV supports native decoding of DTS and Dolby+ while soundbar supports only Dolby+. I use Nova Video Player with HDMI passthrough enabled, which works great for Dolby files. But for DTS I have to rely on the native Media Player app that is preloaded on TV. It works fine as it outputs DTS 5.1 audio properly but the app offers zero customisation. I can't change the size, color or position of subtitles which I can do with other players.

Besides Nova, I tried MX Player and VLC. While MX didn't decode DTS, VLC was able to do it but downmixed it from 5.1 to stereo. So far only the native media player is able to decode DTS 5.1 to PCM 5.1?

Is there any other player (or some setting in the above players that I missed) that will decode DTS 5.1 via software and then send it as proper 5.1 to my soundbar over HDMI?

This morning I woke up one of my MiBox 3 and it started to auto-update. I was keeping it in the first release of Oreo (2167) because it was working without any issue. Now it has been auto-updated to the 2396 release. I made a few checks and it was working ok, but it's sad to be forced to a new update without asking. It was asking for an update since a few weeks but I always discarded it. Today there were no asks.

I have another MiBox and I don´t want to turn it on to avoid this update. I read many post of people having troubles with this update.

So up to now my mi box eorked fine. Today i noticed it have been updated and since than i have a terrible connection. It use to work. The internet connection and speed through laptop is good. But playing videos on the box is just bad.

How can i fix it without downgrading?

update: i might found a mix of stuff that made it work! i disabled wifi scanning(through setting, wifi, at the bottom), changed my routher to channel 6 and reboot the router and the box(still using 2.4ghz) now i have downspeed of 34mb. woohoo!!

(solved) my current setup is as follows: i have a PC connected to my living room TV, and a Mi Box that i just picked up connected to my bedroom TV.

what i would like to do is be able to cast a Popcorntime Stream from the living room to the bedroom, from the bedroom (using the PC PCT client is a must since the android interface sucks and i trackt has never worked for me). My genius idea was to run a remote desktop and simply log in from my bedroom and start the cast. for the life of me i cant find a client that works. i've tried Splashtop, Anydesk and Teamviewer, but they all lag so much that they are unusable.

any suggestions to make this work?

Edit: Steam link works flawlessly. I steered away from windows RDP only because I didn't want to have to deal with authentication every time.

Hello, I bought a Mi box 4 in China and brought it to the US couple months ago and it's just been sitting there since the first time I turned it on because everything is in Chinese.

I recently found out that they released the exact same device but in Black and Netflix and google voice button on the remote and named it as Mi Box S as an international model.

Will it ever be possible for Mi Box 4 users to install the same firmware from Mi Box S? (Android TV)

i'm new to this Android TV thing and have been reading that the Plex plugin for Kodi is much better than the actual Android TV app. In what way is that the case?

i'm planning on trying it out tonight but unless there's a big reason why its better, i'm leaning toward using the app out of the convenience factor.

I have the old Sony "Video and TV SideView" app on my phone, which has gone through some feature changes and whatnot so I've been scared to update it for over a year now. I never used the content I think they removed, which was like a TV guide - all I ever use is the remote control features. It works, so I don't update it.

Anyway, it's the best android TV remote app I've ever used, but it'd be nice to be able to control the tv from my laptop, via some locally-hosted webapp or something. For instance, my Yamaha surround receiver hosts it's own webserver for simple control. It's not much, but it's something.

A webapp like this would also, in theory, be able to be controlled by, say, IFTTT or Google Assistant, if I were lucky. (My Sony XBR65x810c doesn't work well with google assistant as far as I know).

Whether it might run on my TV (may be asking too much) or on a computer in my house (the Sony phone app communicates via some sort of standardized xml protocol, by the looks of it), does anyone have any suggestions on the webapp front?

When you click on the app from the home screen it tells you all about a new update and how things are gonna change but doesn't seem to provide a way to actual download the update. Same for when you go through the settings and search for software updates, nothing there.

My kids have somehow lost the remote and I fucking hate using a touchscreen as a remote. HDMI-CEC works but IR is also garbage lol.

I used to see them on Amazon all the time but now I don't see any that are under $100... Anyone know where I can find one? I don't care if it's the rechargeable one or not.

Just Got A New Android TV Box But Hulu Is Zoomed In And Can't Figure Out How To Log Into My Account.

I don't know the brand of the box, got it off Amazon. But from the settings-> about it say Model: AP1 Version: 7.1.2

So what do I do? I don't even know how to find out if the box need a system update since that option is nowhere in the settings. I see there is a open to turn off root switch. I tried that, but still Hulu still zoomed in. YouTube works just fine. Netflix won't log in, and Hulu is zoomed out and can't figure out how to log in at all. Need some help setting up this device please.

i have a Samsung tv and samsung sound bar . i am running a Nvidia shield with the Directv now apk 2.0.13.05128 .The voice and picture sync is off especially with the SYFY channel. IS any one else having this issue? The sync is perfect on all other apps on the shield tv. Is this common using an apk pulled from the fire store?

I am having many issues with my Abox A4 running Android 7.1 that I got about 6 months ago.

It won't play Amazon video. It just gives a "Unable to play at this time" error. The service works fine on my laptop and Android tablet.

Google play store lists many apps, such as "Configurator for Kodi" as incompatible with the device. It doesn't even show up in the play store. I can see it on my tablet fine.

Kodi Add ons won't install because of "missing dependencies". I've followed instructions on how to rectify this but nothing has worked.

You Tube videos often play in what looks like the vertical mode rather than horizontal. The videos are squashed on the sides. It just randomly does this.

I have tried doing a total factory reboot once and nothing changed, It has made trying to watch TV very frustrating.
