I've just bought a new Sony x7500f and I've been hunting round the web to try and answer a few questions I have but I seem to be coming up short...

I am a big fan of Android on a smartphone but the version on my Sony seems incredibly locked down. I don't even seem to be able to do simple things like change the awful brown homescreen background or set up a folder of photos to run as as a screensaver. Am I missing something here or is there some way around it?

Aptoide refuses to update existing or install new apps. Whenever I try, I get an exclamation mark and the 'App not installed' error.

Since updating to oreo i started noticing a white pixel at the upper left corner of the screen, is it just me or is this a bug?

I have 2 mibox and 1 shield in the house. I cannot connect to them using the "android TV remote" app or "remote android TV"

It seems like the auto discovery is broken. I can however use the shield TV remote app to connect to my shield if I type in the ip directly. But that does not auto discover it either.

I’m looking for a device that can do the following without color space or banding issues:

Local content would be played with Kodi, so refresh rate switching isn’t an issue

1. Play 1080p local content at 1080p, so that the TV does the upscaling
2. Play 1080p streaming content at 1080p at the proper refresh rate
3. Play 4K SDR local content at 4K with no SDR to HDR conversion
4. Play 4K SDR streaming content at 4K with no SDR to HDR conversion at the proper refresh rate
5. Play 4K HDR local content with no banding issues
6. Play 4K HDR streaming content with no banding issues at the proper refresh rate
7. Play 4K Dolby Vision content

If one box can’t do all that, what is the minimum amount of boxes that I’d need to support all this? I’m not against having multiple boxes.

Is it possible to do this with the original sensor bar? I heard Android's Bluetooth stack doesn't support Wiimotes, can I root or mod it to to work with them?

In the photo gallery app on the PS3/4 you can Rotate and Zoom a photo using the thumbsticks on the controller. Is there an app on AndroidTV using the nvidia controller that can do this?

Is there a way to control my Xbox One (specifically play/pause content) using the Sony Android TV remote?

Since the latest (July) update, my Mi Box suffers from general bugs like lags, freezes, restarts or drops random errors.

I have tor restart it every 3-4 days and it's really annoying, cause even these restarts taking too much time (long long minutes).

Any ideas what could I do to make it better? I only use it on 1080/60kHz.

After letting my MiBox do the most recent update I’m totally and completely stuck.

My original remote died a long while back and I’ve been using my TVs remote to control the box (through Simplink, aka CEC) or through the iOS Android TV app, and it’s been working fine.

After the box rebooted it is no longer recognized as a CEC capable device and I can’t get out of the screensaver to use the android tv app. I literally can’t use it.

Any suggestions?

I've been on a rant about this lately. There's no way to do this on Roku or FireTV, and you need a 3rd party app on Apple TV. Please, help convince me to go AndroidTV here.

In my mind, the best part of my Tivo Roamio (for OTA recording) is the ability to turn it on, and be presented with a list of unwatched episodes of shows that I have recorded. No thought required, no opening up apps looking for unwatched episodes, no need to know when a new season is on. New stuff just "shows up".

Does AndroidTV have an equivalent? For example, lets say that I watch Shameless on Netflix, The Last Ship on TNT, and The Goldbergs on ABC. I would have all of those apps installed on my AndroidTV. I would like ONE interface to go to, which says, "Hey, you have new episodes of these shows that you subscribe to!" I'm too lazy to open up each of 20 different apps to see what has a new episode.

I'm very familiar with every other streaming platform, but not so much with AndroidTV. So tell me /r/AndroidTV ... is this possible?

Anyone else just get a push? Know what's in the update?

Every time I turn off one of my consoles, my TV should just enter the "no input detected" state, which is what it was doing until last week. (Actually, ideally it should go to the home screen, but that's a separate issue.) Instead, as soon as the console turns off, the TV starts playing a movie trailer from Program Guide. Uninstalling Program Guide updates and disabling automatic updates has not helped. How exactly do I disable this?

I saw an older post (2 years old) about Sling TV not playing after the Mi Box wakes up after going to sleep. Is anyone else still having this issue? Right now I have to reset the box every time (which drives my wife crazy!). I don't have this same issue with my Nvidia Shield.

After the Oreo update and latest patch, when asleep the mi box won't wake up. I have to unplug it to restart it and then there will be no issue with the remote until it goes to sleep again, and the process repeats. I've tried factory resetting but no avail. I've replaced the batteries in the remote. This never happened on the previous os version. Is there anything else I can try?

I love watching my sports and a few TV shows but didn't want to pay the 100$ a month for that...I'm looking for an android box that is capable of giving me LIVE tv or atleast live sports along with a TON of quality tv shows (updated ones like simpsons, family guy, south park etc).

Another thing if possible..getting these in HD quality.
