Thank you for taking the time out of your days to respond to my question, I was originally looking for android box for my home and stumbled across this sub and was educated on the difference between a real android tv box and the fake ones so I thank you for that!

I have a preorder for the mix box waiting for me at Walmart in Buffalo and I am crossing the border to pick it up in a couple of days.

My main concern is that I read with the latest OTA update they have disabled sideloading of non ATV apks. This is a major deal breaker for me and I am kind of scared of purchasing it and coming back and it not working for me.

I read this on the forum regarding it " To install apps, when you are in the install grey button. Press circle and go to the menu, then reenter in mi explorer, then you can install the app."

If anyone with the box / latest OTA update can confirm or deny for me it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I bought a Mi Box 3 on February 15, has been working well up until a couple of days ago. Suddenly the audio on all of the apps (netflix, youtube, etc) is intermittently (although regularly) choppy, sounds like trying to talk underwater.

I searched through some of the older threads however nothing really suggested any kind of solid solution to this. I tried changing the audio input and power cycled the device which did not fix it. The weird thing is that it was fine and then suddenly for no good reason, the audio issue appeared two days ago. I have not altered any settings or moved the device at all.

I checked to see if there was an update, and indeed there was. The small amount of information on the screen about the update was that it addressed something with youtube, it was ~420mb. After the update, I tried the apps again and still had the choppy audio. After about 10 minutes, I couldn't hear it any more.

Does anyone know what this is, and more importantly, how to fix it? Pretty frustrating.

When I start casting a video it starts normally and after a few senconds it loses sync and each second it becomes even more unsynced. I tried to fix it through the settings in the google home app but it says there was a communication error. How do I fix this?

Hi everyone, hope this is the right place to post this.

I recently purchased an Nvidia Shield and have been loving it! I have a few firesticks, a firetv (I know not true android tv devices), and a Mi Box which all have Apotide tv installed on them. The Shield is the newest member of the family and I wanted to install Apotide on it. Aptoide's website doesn't seem to load at all and I had to find a site to download the latest apk from. After I get the app installed I open it but get the following error message: "Network error occurred. Please verify your connection". I verify and am 100% sure I am connected, in fact I am connected via ethernet. Has anyone else had this issue? If so how did you resolve it, if at all? This issue even seems to happen when I download the Aptoide apk on my Galaxy S8.

P.S.: Sorry if this has already been posted I did my best to search.

So I have this lovely TV with a ton of less than useless software in the form of Chinese and Indian apps I will never use if I live to be 1000. How can we remove these absurd things? Is there any way to root Android TVs? I've been searching all over the internet and can't find a tutorial anywhere, but someone must have done this. No?

I'm looking to buy some android boxes in bulk first for friends and family and possibly to resell at a later date. Can anyone recommend a box to buy from Alibaba.com or some specs I should be looking for?

I see there is a a/v connection at the back of the device . But it doesn't look like a standart 3.5mm stereo jack. It doesn't look like optical output either.

I want to connect my Mackie CR5 stereo speakers to it, is it possible?

I don't want to see a button to resume playback on the main screen

I'm currently using a chinese Android Box, with LibreElec flashed on it. It's working kinda ok, but as the time passes I'm starting to get tired of lags, no Netflix, no streaming services at all etc.

I could probably get a Mi Box for around 70€. So as the title says: Is it worth now, in 2018? Even with the "old" Android 6.0?

How is Netflix? Does PrimeVideo works? Do you know about some new version of the box, in the near future, to wait?

I have the original Shield remote that charges over USB and it won't work unless it's plugged into the charger. If I let it charge for a day and unplug it, nothing works. Plug it in and it responds instantly.

Is anyone else having issues with kodi on the Mi Box? It seems every time I add a repo it wont work or if it does work it works terribly

I recently purchased a harmony hub and then later added a harmony 950 remote. However, the remote stops controlling the 2017 shield tv because the hub keeps loosing Bluetooth connection. Has this happened to anyone else? Any fix?

I'm at a lost and looking for some help. I have a Nvidia shield and as of last week I can't use the HBO now app. For any video I try to play it states an error has occurred and HBO now will restart. I have cleared the app cache and data,uninstalled and reinstalled and still no go. I can Chromecast to it from my phone but that just won't work. Any help or ideas to try is appreciated.

I know how to do a soft reset in settings but is there a way to hard reset Mi Box by doing some button hold during power cord insertion like they do on the Nexus Player. Think I heard something about toggling 2 remote buttons on Mi Box remote while inserting power cord to bring up the android recovery basic menu for doing the hard reset?

Hi. Does anyone if theres a cheap upcoming Android TV device in the loops? Ideally that would be a cheap box that plays 2160p HEVC without problems, google cast included and 32 GB+ to ensure that 4K movies can be played locally.

A local TV carrier has launched a new box to their satellite tv users. DVB, google cast, 4k, android tv - and they get it for "free". Annoys me that it looks like my alternative is either the buggy Mi box with 8 GB, or a Nvidia Shield.

Is there something in between? I've heard some are doing some ar making an unofficial rom for some android tv boxes so that they can run Android TV, but I guess Netflix 4k and Google Cast does not work.
