I am planing to buy a xiaomi mi box but I have some questions.

Is 8 gb enough? What's the free space out of the box? I don't want to play games, just streaming apps + some occasional app.

How's the casting experience? I don't have a chromecast and I would like to use the feature some times. Thank you!

I haven't been able to get the box to turn on our connect. I have changed the remote battery. I have turned off and on. Still can't get anything to to display on the tv.

Are there apps I can use to connect?

I ordered two Mi Boxes last month and both have the same problem. Whether streaming through Kodi or even just using the Youtube app, it'll lose internet connection for a minute or two randomly then come back.

When in Kodi this causes the movie/show to freeze after playing for a minute or two then exit back to Exodus.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

I have an Xbox One controller with no bluetooth. Is there a way to use it on MiBox for casual gaming? I've tried to connect it directly via USB, and the Xbox logo just flashes on the controller and it vibrates, but no input in games.

From a google search I found some threads that really don't give any finallity to this question. Can I plug a shield TV into a 21:9 ultrawide monitor and have the GUI fill up the whole screen, no black bars on the sides?

Seeing if anyone else has this problem. I bought the Shield TV a couple of months ago and returned it because I just didn't think I could justify the price at the time. No problems at all. Picked it up again on the Best Buy sale last week and now I can't watch MLB.tv. Every time it cuts to commercial, the audio doesn't return. If I tell it to go to "live", audio comes back on.

I've been using casting from my phone to watch instead, but obviously I'd prefer the native app to work the way it should (and seem to do on the 1st Shield I bought).

I've cleared the cache and data. Uninstalled, restarted, and installed the app again. Still a problem.

Thoughts/fixes?

The only issue I have with the Mibox is there is no Ethernet port. so compared to the Firetv box with ethernet which one has a better performance and picture.

My nvidia shield tv picture seems better. Note Nvidia is wireless and my mibox has a monoprice usb Ethernet connection

Ever since the Marshmallow update my 2015 Bravia 4K TV keeps randomly crashing and restarting itself, anyone else having this issue?

It appears as though the Google cast receiver recently updated on my mi box and now I can't seem to cast anything. I've restarted my devices, and my Wi-Fi network to no avail...any thoughts?

I'm looking for some help to get my TV to properly provide DTS audio to my AVR. It seems that a lot of people are experiencing this issue, but basically since upgrading to 7.0 my rear speakers no longer pick up audio. I can get ARC to work in DTS from a Tuner source (local channels) but nothing else, netflix nor plex work. They don't properly PCM DTS and I end-up with what appears to be a half ass 3.1 sound or stereo.

I'm using a Onkyo AVR, but after playing around nor many days and hours, I'm pretty certain is the TV. I've factory reset my tv since the update and the issue persists.

Has anyone run into this problem and a solution?

Went to sideload the arm apk and found the 2.0 update waiting for me. Looks stable, maybe slightly faster.

I recently got a Mi Box and would to make the external hard drive attached to my DD-WRT router it's default storage location.

I'm able to access it and play media via a SMB share but have only been able to change the default download folder to locations in the Mi box internal memory. (using ES File Explorer)

I would like to avoid buying more usb memory and manually copying things over.

Is there a solution to this?

Remote keeps losing connection to the Mi Box console daily. Any reasons why? TIA!

I've got a 1st gen shieldtv 16gb connected via 5ghz WiFi with no problems for about 6 months now. Until now that is only YouTube seems to work over WiFi. Netflix, hulu or Amazon give me not connected to the internet errors. If I hook it via ethernet to a router that's acting as a wireless access point everything works just fine. I did a factory reset and tried the 2.4 ghz band and still no changes. Network setting says it has a connection.

Any ideas?

Hi So "a friend" ordered a chinese version of this box by mistake. Any custom roms out there? Been googling and it doesn't look good. I managed to get it set to english but the launcher plain sucks.

My TV doesn't have CEC so I have to relay on a IR Blaster remote.

I am looking for a remote that can power on both my Mi Box and TV. The remotes I found on Amazon so far can only turn off Android boxes mentioned in the reviews, so I need your help looking for a remote.

And I also don't dig the smartphone apps. I just prefer a physical remote.
