I was wondering if its possible to have a torrent client on my Shield TV and a remote(?) on my Android phone that I can use to send torrents to my shield remotely. I'm pretty sure you can do that with the PC, but I am looking for an Android all in one solution.

I've been using zetatorrent (installs via web, but no leanback) and its so annoying using Chrome with all the pop-up spam and d-pad, so I'm looking for something easier, thanks.

I just bought a Mi box 3 (mdz-16-ab) and anytime I go into settings and select "playback settings" I get a "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" text box. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on the newest firmware.

Kodi seems to crash frequently too with a similar text box afterwards.

So I just cut the main cable and voip phone. I asked my provider to just give me the internet but they insisted to give me a 'promo' of internet + free basic cable for a cheaper price than internet alone so I took it.

So now I have Internet and basic cable. I connect the coax cable straight to the TV and get the basic channels (I'll return their cable box tomorrow)

So is all good but reading this forum, I found HDhomerun. My idea is to use the HDHR with the Live Channels app so everything stays in one place (TV Shield) and also be able to watch the basic local channels from my ipad in my bedroom.

So questions are

• Will the HDHomerun Connect work with this basic channels from my provider? or do I need the prime with cablecard? I guess not if I'm able to connect straight to the TV.

• My house is not large. If I don't need the prime, can I just buy the Connect or do I need Extend?

• Description for the HDHR says 2 tuner. Does it mean that only 2 clients can be watching or does it mean that up to different 2 channels can be watch by multiple devices in the network ?

Do you have any vpn recommendation for the Shield (2017)?

I have been unable to find an answer to this question. I just got a Shield TV and have had an HDHomeRun Connect for a while. After installing the HDHR app, live TV is AWESOME in the live channels app. However, it does not appear to support DVR functions. The live channels app supports USB tuners, but can't seem to use the HDHomeRun network tuner as a source.

I've read some say you can use the DVR functions in live channels if you have the HDHomeRun DVR service ($60/year) and are running a backend server, but this seems completely unnecessary as live channels can do it all with a USB tuner.

Am I missing something here? Is there any way to get this working? Also, it seems this functionality could be added to live channels with a 3rd party app, but I can't find one.

Is this even remotely possible? I know that I can just cast NBC to the mi box from my phone, but I'd love to have a native app on the Mi Box.

I had an Amazon Fire TV stick and I was able to sideload any android app, but is the opposite true for the Mi Box (android tv)?

ES File Explorer was just sorta "there" on my Mi Box, and although it gets things done, it's terrible to navigate (not to mention hated for so many reasons).

I'm aware you can sideload just about anything, but I'm really looking for a file manager that plays nicer with D-PAD input and can access the cloud (Dropbox, GDrive, etc).

Sky News on Youtube on my Xiaomi Mibox3 allows me to set the resolution to 1040P, but the actual resolution remains 240P. Why is that? I have plenty of bandwidth, I'm on 100/100 fiber and take other full HD channels without problem. I can also watch it in 1040 on my phone and cast it to the Mibox. What's going on?

I have an Nvidia Shield TV and use an app to download videos. However, the app has no progress indicator so I don't know when it is finsihed or how close it is to being finsihed. Is there any way I can get a download progress bar of some kind?

Trying to watch The Grand Tour in 4k but the quality is stuck on 1080p. All other apps play 4k content no problem. What gives?

Netflix on my MiBox doesnt play with 5.1 surround (no 5.1 icon on the title), Ultra HD it can but not 5.1. I downloaded a test video file from dolby and played it in USB via VLC and the surround kicked in. I think the problem it with Netflix app. This is my setup:

MiBox>>HDMI>>TV(LG)>>HDMI(ARC)>>HomeTheater(Samsung)

Native Netflix app on my TV(LG) plays with 5.1 surround.

Update: I was able to chat with Netflix support, she said that Netflix and xiaomi are working right now to fix issues with MiBox. Nevertheles, she said that she will create a report of my issue to dev team for possible fix.

As the title says. I have looked around for awhile and am unable to find a recent tutorial. I want to have SPMC set as my home on launch and when I hit the home button. I have the new shield 2. Any help would be appropriated.

As the title suggests my 16GB Shield prompted me today that it's storage space was critically low (~ 250MB of internal left), I thought this was slightly odd considering I keep a 64GB Micro SD as adoptable storage and thought i moved over any app that'd grow substantially onto that when I first got the device.

I first deleted a few games I'd recently installed (Portal, Geometry wars 3 etc.) to see if that'd fix the issue, no dice.

I use SPMC to manage my media and know that with all the metadata the SPMC folder can get pretty big, inspecting it with Xplore showed it was around 7GB on the SD card, the settings menu stated 6.7GB of internal use so I guess the SD card is adopted. That's perfectly fine considering that I keep a large library (on an NAS so that's not the cause either). Aerial dream, an app I use for my screensaver was found using 6GB of space for it's cache which is excessive but nothing in comparison to the absolutely massive 33GB thumbnail file hidden in my DCIM folder.

I have no idea what program created it, maybe it was SPMC storing files or Plex or just an app misbehaving but I felt like it shouldn't be there, I deleted it, uninstalled Aerial Dream and rebooted the device. Same low storage prompt popped up again and suddenly the interface felt so much more sluggish. shit.

At this point I backed up SPMC to my NAS and tried clearing the cache in the settings, the cache refused to be cleared (tried before and after force closing SPMC) so I tried uninstalling. The uninstall worked and so I rebooted, still sluggish. The settings app was now crashing occasionally. At this point I tried to reinstall SPMC thinking that I could try keeping it's size small, got greeted with the error that there wasn't enough space to install SPMC even when I had literally just uninstalled a much larger version of it. It seems that whatever was hogging the internal space wasn't SPMC at all.

At this point I gave up and performed a factory reset, I'm not getting the low storage warning which is nice. Currently in the process of restoring my SPMC backup, no closer to understanding what caused this.

I can't seem to get any 5.1 surround sound using the Netflix app, while with Kodi it works fine.

I was wondering if others have this issue as well with the Mi Box. It is connected through SPDIF.

Hey guys. I got given a Chinese Mi Box. Problem is it is only in Chinese and the GUI looks very different from the Android TV one.

It says on the bottom it is a MDZ-16-AA if that matters at all.

Am I screwed guys? Is there any way to change the language to english and get the normal GUI?

Trying to just use 1 remote for tv and Mi Box. I have no issues turning on the tv and mi box with the circle button but i can't turn off the tv after pressing the power button. Is this an issue for others?

Hi - for different reasons along the way I ended up with multiple google accounts. I've got a main personal one with emails on it etc. as well as recent photos. Another account where I backed up ALL my old and new photos as well as using it for google drive. Then I got an anonymous one that I use on an old smartphone as a media only device like podcasts and audiobooks as well as for sites that need logins that I don't trust.

Now I got a new Nvidia Shield and thinking of creating yet a new account as it'll be specific to the device in terms of apps, mostly for gaming. I don't want people using the Shield to access anything personal.

How do you people organize your accounts ? do you have more than one ?

The latest FLIRC software (v2.1.1) has been updated to include the Shield TV Remote in the device menu. I haven't tested it yet myself, but hopefully it solves some of the issues that some of us have had with various buttons not working across all apps.

I'm scratching my head. I have an ADT-1 running PureNexus 6.0. There are a couple places where it's rough around the edges, and I'm presuming DRM may be a source of my current usage hiccup.

I've been trying to get HBO Now to stream on the ADT-1, which is rooted, using a number of different workarounds including RootCloak and using a Nexus Player build.prop device ID.

No dice so far. Whenever I start a video I get a "failed to get key request" error. Anyone have any idea? Is the device ID being enforced server side?
