When I tap on the area on the bottom of the remote (importantly, it must include the two raised areas, not just the area in between) somewhat strongly, any music I was playing in Google Music or Spotify will play/pause.

No actual button on the remote does this. I can't do a generic play/pause with any of those buttons but somehow tapping on that area of the remote does? It's actually inconvenient as if you're just playing with the remote in your hands after pausing music, music will start up again accidentally.

Does anyone else have this behavior? Is it possible to turn this off?

Has SPMC caused anyones Nexus Player or any other device to crash and restart after long periods of watching?

As the title says... does not appear after the out of the box upgrade to Shield Experience 5... Not available in the store on the Shield TV second gen, trying to install from the play store web interface says incompatible.

Casting to Netflix has been broken forever on the shield, and neither company has made any effort to solve the issue in the past. For those with Nougat, can you cast from your phone to Netflix seamlessly (without it getting stuck on profile selection screen), and can you voice cast from a gHome?

Picked one up today for the new Google Assistant update. Was pleased with the price and thought I might share!

I did buy it in store and the price does not reflect online.

Hey guys. Got directed here from r/cordcutters. Looking at ordering a Mi Box, but live in Toronto and they're not selling them at Walmart here. Not overly technical, so having trouble assessing which online links are legit and the right model. Don't want to end up with a knockoff.

Any direction here, or links to buy the right item, would be awesome.

Missing for anyone else? I know we speculated it would be a software addition later because it wasn't in the beta. Do we have any official answers yet?

Update: As LeftNoRightTurn discovered - there's an un-notified Netflix update in the playstore - installing this immediately resolved the issue for me \o/

Got my Shield TV today, to replace my gen1 AFTV. It's amazing as expected. Got an oddity tho, cant get Netflix to do HDR. Amazon Prime does, but Netflix just lists content that I know should be in HDR as UltraHD 4k. I double checked by playing some of this content (e.g. Jessica Jones) and whilst its in 4k, its not in HDR.

Standalone HDR files play via the video player from USB, and in SPMC (after some fiddling with settings) so I'm not sure what's up. I'm on the proper subscription level and playback settings with Netflix.

Anyone else having issue pairing the new controller with the gen 1 shield? It keeps saying there is a device to be paired, and when I tell it to do so (using the old controller), the screen closes but the controller remains unpaired. It does work plugged in though.

Edit with some answers: You can pair through bluetooth, but that only gives you wireless functions. Presumably until the update it doesn't show up as an Nvidia controller, and so you can't use it as a second controller for couch games.

Is the new always on Google assistant on the new shield, or is that something they are adding soon? I've tried yelling okay google several times and nothing is happening and I feel pretty dumb doing it anymore. Lol. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or does this feature just not work yet.

I just got my Shield and was excited to get it all going. I'm at a loss tho because the Live Channels app doesn't appear on the home screen, nor can I start it my going to it from the Play store.

Additionally, my information for Play Music isn't showing up. I'm not a subscriber, but I thought that my library in the cloud would pull up. Am I missing something?

I've managed to install Retroarch from the Play store and have successfully loaded a NES core and some roms. However, I have no idea how to configure this thing to work properly with my setup. I'm running ATV on a Sony Bravia X850C.

When I load up a NES rom, it runs, but I get no audio and I can't use my Dual Shock 4 that is paired with the TV.

Any suggestions or links with helpful info?

Also the paired DS4 is extremely laggy even when navigating the ATV home menu.

I set up the remote to control TV power in Shield settings, it tested fine. Now, how do I use the new remote to turn off the TV? Do I long-press some button?

Anyone else with the Nougat update having issues with Amazon Prime on the Shield TV with a Logitech Harmony remote? Once in the app I'm not able to select titles using my Harmony remote. I can exit the app by pressing the Home button. But the OK button doesn't seem to supported in that App.

Note I have the Logitech remote connecting to the Shield TV via bluetooth.

I've got a first gen shield in the basement and the remote works 100% perfectly. The 2nd gen remote skips/drops/lags constantly if I'm more than 8 feet from the box. The controller behaves much better, but I'm not quite ready to say it's as good as the older one.

Can someone confirm the remote is fine for them before I start tearing up my living room looking for interference?

edit: I paired my Gen 1 remote with the Gen 2 Shield TV and it works fine :( I'm off to file a case with nvidia and potentially order a second Gen 1 remote just in case. It's a needless waste of $50, but the Gen 2 remote doesn't work. Not much else to say unless nvidia think it's broken and they RMA it.

I live in Hungary, and we have IPTV. We have a set-top box, but it's from the service provider, and we don't like it. We have to pay for it every month, and they don't let us buy it, so our bills will be higher. The question is, if I buy a set-top box from any online merchant, can we watch the programs with it? Or it's only working with the provider's set-top box? Are there any TV-s which has a built in set-top box, working with IPTV? Smart TV-s need a box too, don't they?

Notice: I don't really have any knowledge about these.

I'm a prime member in Canada, and they've been "preparing my order" since Thursday. Wanted to know if this was a universal thing, or limited to me.

I see the new gamepads, I see the new NVidia Shields, but... I don't see the new remotes. I want the one with the IR blaster. Anybody have any luck or see any out in the wild? (or even online? Amazon doesn't seem to have them?)

I'm not really running any apps with ads, so besides installing AdAway, I am wondering what some other benefits might be to rooting the Mi Box.

There is the app for Android TV that works on Mi Box?
