In Android 7 you could just hold "Home" button and a simple window appeared with all your opened apps where you could switch between them or close ones you don't need. I've been using Android 8 for a few days now and still haven't found anything of this sort.

It used to work perfectly, but in the recent one month-ish, everytime I try to cast Youtube from my phone to my TV the phone will be in the "connecting to your TV" state forever until it finally timeout. I can pair the TV's Youtube app with my phone using the TV code and cast, but that way it only works after I already opened Youtube app on the TV (with normal chromecast it can wake the tv up and open the youtube app automatically).

I was having this issue on my Shield and got hold of Hulu tech support.

Unplugging the shield and the router for a minute and restarting took care of the matter.

Hey guys sorry if this is a dumb question. I just bought my first Android TV and was curious if there were any custom OS's out there.

Last Android phone I owned was the HTC One X, and ran CyanogenMod. Just wondering if the same kind of custom community exists for Android TV?

I have the X4-55 and it's an awesome TV but unfortunately LeEco is no longer with us. Well, in the US anyway.

I've read some weird updates people are doing on XDA.

How long will the OS on this TV remain functional? And, should I just keep using until it becomes outdated (software) then add a Minute Box?

This was a new-in-the-box MiBox and it's in Chinese from the very first start. I managed to get the language changed to English using a guide on Youtube, but the OS is clearly not AndroidTV and it's still got Chinese text and apps all over it. Is there a way to get this to the US version's OS? I tried the system update, but it says it's up to date.

Should I just return it?

I need to remove Google's account in order to get play service updated, I had another Android box that has dedicated Settings app, where I can download this settings apk?

Updated my Mi Box (US; 1st gen) with Android 8. A message asked to choose a home screen app; I picked TVLauncher, a 3rd party app. Now I can’t get back to default home screen at all; no access to Settings. Is there a way to change back?

I've been away from the OS for a while now because it was buggy and YouTube and Netflix always had problems especially on the mibox. Like is there a chance of Android Pie actually coming out with Android OS or is it dead in the water?

Messing with Kodi and Plex seem daunting to just play on-device media movie files from my Shield TV to my smartphone over cell network. Can anyone please help me at least get started on how to do this??

Is there a good screen recorder in the Playstore or outside of the Playstore?

I'm rooted. I'd like one that record to SD Card, one that maybe can be activated with hotkeys, or if it can be scheduled even better. With great video quality or configurable.

This is my first android tv, I've searched for in this sub and didn't find anything related, so:

I just bought a Mecool KM8 on gearbest on a flash sale, I've seen reviews telling the Netflix app (android tv optmized) is not working because Netflix banned non official android tv os' (can anyone confirm?).

There's a workaround on aptoid, but with the phone app, wich won't respond to the native controller, only an air mouse, or keyboard (which I don't have, but could buy if needed).

My questions are:

1. Is Mecool able to workaround it in an OTA update to solve this bitch?
2. I know the model has a cast option, which works with youtube properly, but will it work in the aptoid version?
3. Is there other ROMs that would have a nice UI experience and work the goddamn netflix? (And, if it'd be possible to turn back in case ROM installation goes sideways).

I know it's a lot to ask, but maybe there'll be someone with lots of knowledge and a spare time to guide me through.

So I have a Samsung Smart TV that has a built-in Chromecast. It has worked great for months but recently it has stopped showing up on the tv. Doesn't seem to get recognized anymore. Any suggestions?
