Last year I bought a "JUSTOP® MXG 4K Android 6.0 TV Box Ultra HD Smart TV Player Quad Core Amlogic S905X Built-in 802.11n WI-FI (MXG)"

I've not updated it since and various apps are stopping working - esp BBC IPlayer.

I've looked for various MXG firmware but not found anything obvious although I did come across MXQ firmware, but I'm not sure if that'd work. So I was wondering if anyone could point me to the appropriate firmware I'll be able to use.

So, this has happened before, but today was much more spookier...

We've come home and woken up in the morning to find our Living Room TV on. I have an Nvidia Sheild hooked up to a Bravia TV (which is also Android TV, but we don't use that part). I also have a Harmony Smart Remote/Hub and Google Home which we can turn it on/off through IFTTT. I just chalked it up to something weird happening on the IFTTT or Google servers triggering commands on it's own. Anyhow, today, my wife comes home to the TV being on and playing a show on her Netflix profile. A show she doesn't watch. When she left the house, she was watching a show on Hulu, so it couldn't have been her accidentally playing it (it would have been difficult to exit the app, scroll to Netflix, get into her account, find the show and play it all on accident). Soooo...what gives? Why is my sh*t haunted?

So I just wanted to say that the Vimeo Android TV app is great. They understand how to actually recommend videos in the LeanBack launcher. I love to scroll through the LeanBack launcher and view recommended videos from various apps (why can't Netflix start recommending videos here?! :( ).

They seem to recommend videos that are from my subscriptions, or at least related to my subscriptions, or watch history. But YouTube... they don't get.

YouTube keeps recommending videos (in the LeanBack launcher recommendations row) that they "think" I should watch based on what everybody else likes or based on them being super popular. I had to disable YouTube from showing up in my recommendations bar due to inappropriate thumbnails I don't want my kids seeing, or excessive amounts of annoying liberal-left late-night show clips. I don't have anything in my subscriptions or YouTube watch history to justify their showing up (and if I happened to watch a video that I don't want to modify my YouTube recommendations on the actual website, I purposely delete it from the history). But yet these dumb videos keep showing up that I don't care for.

Hopefully YouTube will get it and change how they recommend videos in the recommendations row.

I'd like to use the color buttons or some other keys to launch youtube / twitch / archos video player.

Can I do this somehow?

App in question Google live channels app.

The problem I am experiencing is this wierd Humming or Buzzing sound when I change channels threw live channels app it comes threw my speakers on my TV and idk what it is or how to stop it . Sound fades away after channel is tuned in but comes back after tuning into a new channel.

I know that this can be a noob question, but can the 2017 Nvidia Shield TV play 1080p on Netflix even if I have 1.4 HDCP? And also, how to know which HDCP my TV supports? Thanks

I used to be a big tech geek who didn't mind extra work for the best possible results. That led me to build a gaming/media pc that is paired with my suround sound and projector in my room.

For the past 4 years this setup has been perfect for my needs but now that im in college and in serious need of an upgrade I am clueless. I need something that I can just hit power on my remote and have my media ready for me.

this is my check list that I am trying to fill

• supports suround sound

• non ir remote or strong enough emitor so that placement of device is not an issue

• compatible/compatability with xfinity live tv app

• popcorn time support (i have had issues in the past with firesticks and the remote not working in the app)

• expandable storage would be a plus aswell

• im broke so sub $100 aswell

i know it sounds like I am asking to be spoon fed here but no amount of reviews have led me to find anything that satisfys what I am looking for on the software end (xfinity and popcorn time compatability) so I am looking for people who have used the device they are suggesting and can attest to its usability

Has anyone got this to work on their AndroidTV box or TV? Anytime I try to play a movie it errors and says try again later(which hasn't worked yet).

Is there any workaround to use my google home with my sony bravia android TV? Would love to be able to turn on my tv with my voice.

Nothing has changed in my setup in the last 6 months and it's always worked perfectly as far as CEC goes. Turn TV on, Shield comes on, sound bar comes on. A few weeks ago the Shield stopped turning on with the TV. The only way to turn it on was with the power button or the Shield remote.

Then I got a software update for the Shield and it now if will turn on if I turn the TV on and switch inputs, then switch back to the input the Shield is on. So that's better than it was, but still not right.

Now what has been happening is sometimes I do this and I cannot control the Shield via CEC or when I switch to that input the Shield will turn on but I will have no video until I manually turn the Shield off and back on.

TV is last year's Vizio and the sound bar is a few years old LG, the Shield is a first gen Shield.

Just curious if anyone is having issues like these, not sure if it's the TV or the Shield that is causing issues.

Specific to Shield TV version 6.0.

I have for the past 4 months been using VUDU without issue on my Nvidia Shield TV. Since updating to Shield Experience 6.0, the VUDU app keeps being removed. I have all location settings off.

This did not happen once until the update. I am in the UK.

I have other geolocked apps, which have not been removed (FandangoNow).

Vudu works once I reinstall it, but as soon as I restart the shield or leave it for an extended period of time, it disappears again.

I notice VUDU is listed as a system app, not a downloaded app on my shield too. Not sure why.

Any ideas? Gen 1 16GB Nvidia Shield TV on experience 6.0, UK based.

Is it the best media streamer? With 4k hdr blueray support does it beat the competition for best value for buck?

I've been looking for a box and ultimately it seems the nvidia shield is the best but the price is a bit much higher since I need at least 3-4 boxes. The alternative most suggest seems to be the xiaomi mi box. But I would like a box with more things like an ethernet port.

I've googled a bunch and see things like skystream one, minix, droidbox, etc....

How come these aren't really recommended here? Basically I'm asking for a recommendation of a box that lies in between the shield and the mi. Any good ones?

Guys does the mi box support screen mirroring from my smartphone android, and my windows 10 laptop? I want to mirror video playback to it and connect my bluetooth headphones to it to enjoy a movie. Is it possible? I have a galaxy s8 does the smart view button work?

My friend wants to cut the cord and keep prices down to a minimum. So, essentially it's either a Shield or a MiBox. I only have experience with my Shield and HDHomerun Connect, and it's been pretty good.

I'm just wondering how the Mi Box does with Plex and Live Channels? Should I just advise her to go for a Shield instead? With Live Channels if she makes a recording on one Mi Box can she play it back on a different Mi Box in another room or are the recordings locked to a single box?

Basically as an extra for the spare room so my in-laws can have their own space when the grand kids get too much and another for my technically incompetent mother who wants Netflix.

It seems like it is a get what you pay for type of thing, I run an older NUC as the front end of our Plex server in the lounge, but as we have a 4k tv (I won it in a competition - lucky me right!) so I am interested to see if it performs. My NUC is old and won't support 4k h.265 so I may swap them between the lounge and spare room if it turns out ok. The NUC is windows 10 so all applications we want, Spotify, etc are there. I am upgrading to gigabit fibre so expect to get around 600mb down on wifi (flash new routers and wifi AP's) so not worried about the lack of Ethernet.

Now my questions are: is it easy to update from Android 6.0? (I have not read up on XDA yet sorry) and is the Play Store localised? I read that it's a cut down version? I am getting the international version but I want to access the local streaming apps in my country (NZ), especially TVNZ so my FIL can watch the news at the volume he likes i.e ear screamingly loud. I understand that you can sideload if not immediately available but rather plug and play rather than faffing around.

Any thoughts? Cheers

I've been having some problems with my Mi box 3 lately. Not sure if it started recently or if I've just missed it before. I get popping/static noises from my speakers when watching netflix, youtube etc on my Mibox, anyone else having these problems? Might it even be a androidtv fault? My Mi box is connected to my onkyo 5.1 av reciever which works perfectly fine (no popping/static from other sources so the av reciever is not the problem) . I've tested different HDMI-cables, tried swapping the hdmi port on my AV reciever, tried moving the mibox in case it was picking up some static from something close by but nothing seem to help. Fauly Mibox or anyone else having this problem aswell? Best regards Johan

Could anyone give me the address for the Android TV update server(s)? I’m trying to block updates, due to one causing errors while installing. If these servers are also the ones responsible for Android Phone updates, please give me a heads up when replying because I don’t want to block phone updates.
